How does your game fit the theme?
Literal "Countdowns" are a core element of the experience. The game explores the juxtaposition between a mortality countdown and the mundane, everyday "countdowns" endured (microwave, bus, phone battery, computer updates, etc).

The cinematic quality of this game is immaculate! I immediately forgot that I was playing a game made in just 4 days; it was just so captivating. Loved the sound design and the graphics; they were just wonderful!
I just faced a bit of an issue: on the first try, I accidentally exited the game while trying to pause it. The second time, the game was in a weird boot loop; I could play the game, but every few seconds I would get the wake-up cinematic. But I am still gonna attempt a third time. STRAYFOX, you have made an absolute banger!
Thank you so much for the feedback! I really appreciate the kind words and I'm glad you were able to give it a couple of tries despite the unclear exit button and boot loop bug. I'm so sorry I am replying so late, and even more sorry that I didn't get a chance to play yours during the voting period. The page design and art style looks really impressive, if I get a chance I will have a quick play!
I really tried cause it has some amazing visuals and looks great, but i was looking at the same 3 scenes for 3 minutes and really didnt understood what should i do :(
I'm sorry for the late reply! Thank you so much for giving it a go. It is very slow paced, by design. Which is not for everyone and I totally get that!
Its so amazing work! Art, audio, animations and gameplay is so good, and as i read mostly all done by u - its brilliant work.
Also i checked the trailer u made - its awesome <3
Can u give me advice how reach such a good result? What should i use or do to make some experience? U said that tried to create something that stood out, so how long do u study for such result?
You did a great job, good luck with this project!
Nope, i would not deleting cat pics...
Thank you for playing and for leaving such a kind comment! I knew from the start that I needed a trailer just because Windows downloads often get less attention, and it’s larger in file size too. Very glad that you liked it!
To be honest I am not sure what to say when it comes to advice. There is no real secret, just more practice and more exposure to things like this jam and improvement will naturally come. I think you have to work with what you’re most passionate about and what you’re best at, and lean into them as much as possible. My programming skills aren’t as strong for example, so I try to make up for it in other areas. I think your game had lots going for it. You should definitely be proud of what you made and not compare it too hard against others.
There are so so so many great games in this jam. The best part is seeing everyone’s own unique creative flair expressed through each game. There are obviously some objective quality metrics which are mostly textbook and technical, but there’s a lot of subjectivity too, especially in the time constraints of a jam, which is the beauty of it.
Yeah, I felt it on me one time, when very little count of reviewers was on my game with PC version, that's why I always try to make WebGL version and add touchpad/gamepad support to bring more different players.
Also about trailer - yours is awesome, I even left a comment on your video. I tried to make something that present my game on this jam and published it on YouTube, too. It's interesting experience, always loved to video editing, but never did this with material from my game.
And I 100% agree about how talented people on this jam, so much interesting and beautiful games. It's my first so big gamejame, and I reviewed already a lot games and happy to talk with every developer.
Also wanted to know - what do u use for editing? I use Premier Pro recently, I used After Effects long time ago, don't know if I should remember again it to bring more quality in trailers.
Also wanted to how is ur genre calls? Im talking about genre of gameplay and style of graphics (it reminds me ps1 style, but you have a lot more quality then ps1).
I think u did a great job and it also very hard as for me to do it on Unreal Engine.
Apologies for the late reply!
I really appreciate the feedback on the trailer! I have a slight advantage here as I work with many Adobe CC software for my actual day job, including After Effects which is what I used to make the trailer. But After Effects is pretty overkill for what I made. It could have been done in much simpler software. There's a lot of choice for software nowadays for video editing/motion graphics - not just the expensive Adobe suite. Being creative and executing even the smallest of ideas is far more valuable than software knowledge in my opinion.
This is my second game jam, and whilst I really enjoyed making the game, I preferred the community of the first game jam I entered, which was much smaller. There are just too many games in this one! I see you have entered a new game jam already (and the page looks awesome)!! Huge respect, I am still worn out from this one, you will definitely go far with that attitude!
It's hard to say what genre I'd define my game as. PS1 style is a pretty good guess and I have a lot of inspiration from that era. It is all done in post processing, I was just experimenting with something that I felt fit the narrative of the game so I'm glad it got some good feedback!
Really appreciate your comments and this conversation, thank you!
More of a narrative experience, but it's pretty interesting. The aesthetic was neat and felt pretty cohesive. The use of the theme was cool; I liked how it was not just central to the narrative, but also a recurring visual motif.
Each scene contributed well to the atmosphere. The microwave scene specifically did it quite well I think. The sporadic timer pop-ups showing up as you use the microwave did well to emphasize the main character's imminent fate. I do think it could've been a little shorter though.
Very cool entry overall.
Thank you for playing and for leaving such a nice comment with some very fair feedback, I really appreciate it!
This is really good! Surreal in a weird way but I love it a lot. The artstyle is great, the audio is clean, the scenes were really cinematic. Does hit you a certain way, and the symbolism of the countdown chained to you like time is a burden on you, constantly dragging you down(?) Very good job!
Thank you for playing, and thank you for the kind comments too! I’m glad to hear that it left an impression!
Nice art, I really like the style.
Thank you for playing!
WOW. this felt more like an interactive media project than a game made for a 4-day game jam and i mean that in the best way possible. it felt like a short film i'd see in a film festival and discuss with someone else afterwards. usually, i value a bigger focus on gameplay in games, but with the kind of story this game tries to tell, i can definitely see why you went with the narrative/interactive media approach.
with that said, i did feel that the microwave section dragged on for too long, even with the fun minigame on the side (though i have to admit the music was fire). if i could add one note, i would have liked to see more diversity in the inputs required to finish the sequences; more things like the Door OS sequence requiring you to use the mouse to drag and drop folders instead of all sequences requiring a simple button input. but i do understand if that couldn't have been achieved due to the time constraints (especially because you also made a trailer?????? wow)
also as someone who loves these kinds of visual effects/shaders i'd love to ask how you were able to achieve such a pixelated look for the game. overall really really well done and i truly wish you all the best!!
Thank you for playing and for taking the time to leave such an amazing comment!
For the microwave scene, I totally understand your perspective. It was a big risk to force players to sit through it for a whole minute. I really wanted it to stand out for many reasons. For one, this was the only countdown scene in the entire game that started and ended without a hard cut away, which can be interpreted in many ways. Though ultimately, I understand this is a “game” medium first and foremost. The paper ball throwing interaction was a very late addition to try to balance this a little more, but I definitely could have done better.
I played a game called INDIKA shortly before the jam started, and there’s a scene near the beginning where you have to carry a bucket to a well, fill it up with water, carry it to a barrel the other side of the village, empty the water into the barrel, and repeat this 5 times, whilst walking painfully slowly. Only for the barrel to be emptied of all its water immediately after that scene was over. For some reason it was a really big inspiration (said no one, ever!) for the direction of this jam game. It communicated so much meta context to the overall theme and narrative of the game in a way that felt really bold, intentional and unique - a style of creative direction that I really wanted to explore myself!
For the shader graphics, I am unfamiliar with Unity, but in Unreal you can create Post Process materials that applies after the scene natively renders to create various bespoke looks very cheaply. For this it was getting the screen uvs and multiplying by a “fake resolution” which was 320x240 in this case, which just crunches it to look pixelated and stylised. It also leans into and compliments FXAA anti aliasing which is also very performant. You can also mask anything from these effects with custom depths which I tried to do for some things like the timers for better clarity.
Incredible.
The shots are beautifully made and the pixel filter aesthetic really enhances them.
Made me feel stuff, not quite sure what yet, I think I still need some time to process it.
Thank you for playing, so glad it had its intended impact on you!
This has the best narrative I’ve experienced so far. It feels like watching a complete film and left a deep impression on me.
Thank you for playing! That means a lot, so glad you enjoyed it!
very good liminal space feel you created here! the prompt for input could appear sooner in my opinion and maybe more of them. it felt more of a interactable movie than a game (but keep the cinematic pls thats great!) definitely created a cool vibe here. great work!
Thank you for playing and for leaving honest feedback! I’m really glad you resonated with the overall vibe as that was the main goal. It certainly lacks in interactivity and is something I tried hard to get right. Ultimately, a combination of obvious time restraints, as well as the overall narrative leaning against it in many ways (which is a hard sell, especially in a game jam!), made it a tricky balance to strike between exaggerating the stillness and the mundane, and gameplay stings that served a narrative/thematic purpose.
Nice job!! You did a great job with the story aspect and it was very real!!
Thank you for playing!
Really good narrative!! There are such a few games that focus on storytelling, you sir really did a good work on that. I dont really like to download games from windows but with this one I have no regrets :) The jokes are certantly a plus, and the graphics are lovely. Really good game ;)
I totally get the windows download apprehension. Thank you for giving it a chance and for the great feedback!
This need a Warning label , creeped me out , didn't know mundane could be dreadful . The countdown made it suspenseful. Like the retro shader usage. Works well here. The game made me sad and a little hooked even though I was thinking it might be boring . Not at all. At one point though I hit escape and it kicked me out. Not ideal but rather than just frustrated added to my anxiety and was anxious to get back. (I got kicked out at the microwave start)
Very cool.
Thank you for playing! "This needs a warning label" is the highest praise I could get, haha. Fair comment on the escape button quitting out of the game without knowledge!
I don’t often like downloading windows builds, but the screenshots intrigued me. What I got was a thought provoking narrative, with some amazing cinematics. The microwave sound was a real surprise and was kinda a banger. Deleting all the files left a lump in my throat as it really felt final. The shader work was great, and it will stick with me for quite a while. Great job.
Thank you for playing! This was such a lovely comment, really appreciate the kind words and I’m glad it resonated with you!
Really good storytelling, love it !
Thank you for playing!

Nice Game!
Thank you for playing and for leaving such detailed feedback! I’m sorry to hear you encountered a bug with the “Shutdown” UI. This is not something I encountered in my (limited) testing but I’ll be sure to investigate and fix post-jam!
Really beautiful. Had me thinking alot. I spend alot of time doing nothing. Very rare for a jam game to do something like that
Thank you for playing, a really nice comment to receive!
