Big fan of these kinds of stories! The theme isn't really in the mechanics at all *but* it is nicely used as part of the narrative. The way the narrative is interconnected between the different perspectives is very cool, I wish perhaps some cleaner writing could've prevented a lot of the repeated lines that might be adding a little too much word count, and some of the more fluffy dialogue lines could've been cut to condense the story a little bit, but it was a fantastic experience if you stick with it till the end!

Noted! Thanks for playing it on stream!

Very well-written game! The mini-games play very well as well.

Thank you!

Wow this game is so cinematic! i'm in love with the art and the story, they really complete each other.

Developer

Thank you so much for playing!

This was really great to play! The art style was gorgeous and I enjoyed the variety in gameplay in each section. I found it a little difficult to see the asteroids against the background colours - but managed to get through eventually haha.  Congrats on a great game jam game!

Developer

I assume you played the web version. For some reason the asteroid scene becomes dark (The space scenes are where I had to remove things to stop lag). The PC version is much brighter and better looking and even has lights around the spaceship. Thanks for spearheading through and seeing it to the end.

Yeah I played the web version :)

Amazing story, played the whole thing when I meant to stay 5 minutes. Would like to see the art and gameplay expanded but I appreciate that was not the focus! Streamed the game here: https://www.twitch.tv/nebsterlive

Loved the stream! Thanks for playing!

"Where is the sun?" is quite the horrifying sentence. The narrative was neat and I like how you get to see all the perspectives.

Thank you for playing!

I can’t believe there’s not more cosmic horrors in this jam. It fits the count down theme so well.

This one executed the idea properly, amazing job!

Developer

Thank you!

Daaaammmn. One of the most creative takes of the theme, and you nailled the narrative. If I could give one game 6 in narrative it would be you,
Also congratz for the visuals, the game is actually really beautiful, really nice choices in art direction.
Awesome !

Developer

Thank you!

That was such a unique experience in this jam, awesome story and twist on the countdown theme! Great work guys c:

This was such a weird, otherworldly story shown in an artistically intrinsic way. It's very beautiful, and you've done a really good job with it all!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing it on Stream!

Why so many MINES IN THE OPEN OCEAN ?? I'm just kidding, this was a really interesting narrative exploration and a clever reuse of mechanics throughout. Great job !

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Had a lot to do and not a lot of time so reusing mechanics was the only way to get this done.

The story was actually captivating and I really enjoyed it! The visuals were great too. Great Job!

That ending sure was creepy. I really liked the atmosphere through the entire game, especially because the music felt very eerie. Great job!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you! Glad you liked it. Atmosphere to compliment the story was a high priority.

I wasn't expecting cosmic horror in my GMTK Game Jam feed that was so sick. I almost wish it had gone even further with the horror at the end even though I'm not usually great with horror. I think the music was a little repetitive, but it is what it is when it comes to making something in this short a timeframe.

Really solid cosmic horror from multiple perspectives I was worried at first that repeating so much information between characters would get grating, but it worked really well in the end.

Great work, felt genuinely freaked out once the ending hit. I was straight up looking at the sky to see if there was a smile where I thought there was looking directly at me.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Initially the plan was to have a smile appear (animation) , but couldn't find the right assets in the right time.

That's fair enough, it was still a good ending anyways and I loved the feeling of dread imbued in the game not quite knowing exactly *what* is going to happen despite the mentions of an impending doom.

Submitted

I mean this as a compliment: The story felt like Baywatch meets Cosmic Horror!

Developer(+1)

Never thought of it that way, but that checks out. Thanks for playing!

Gotta be honest I didn't expect much at first, but the ending got me, it was really spooky and I felt goosebumps on my neck haha! The music really fit this vibe
 Great work!

Developer(+1)

Oh Wow! You don't know how much this comment means to me. The way you described how the ending made you feel is the exact way I pitched my team about how I want the player to feel. It fills me with joy that we succeeded in doing so. And ye my man Windstepper crushed it with the music. Thank you for taking the time to play! Really means a lot!

Developer(+1)

Thank you. I would've composed more music, but I came in late and didn't have much time remaining.

The gameplay wasn't crazy or anything but I was very invested in the narrative so it was totally the play through. Also... the G13 looks kinda familiar LOL it was good to see a tie fighter.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! I did try to focus on the narrative more. The gameplay was to not make it feel like a full visual novel (to hook the non visual novel fans :P) and to still drive the story forward by making it more immersive.

Submitted

Very cool concept! The narrative was amazing

Developer

Thanks for taking the time to play! Glad you enjoyed!

had the opportunity to beta test. well executed in a short time. Music is really soothing as well. good work.

Developer

Ideally I would've composed more music tracks but I got in late and only had a day remaining 🥲
