I liked how the assets looks, but I'm not a fan of lane drivers to begin with,  I find it a little repetitive. So I struggled to persevere, and reran just a few times.

But that looked like a proper finished game to me, so congrats to you all ! The music was also pretty nice. Yall also nailed the theme perfectly, I felt like I was experiencing myself drive lately with my lack if sleep due to having two little babies!

I'd be curious to see what more you could do!

Developer

Thanks for playing!! glad to know you liked the feeling of it, and yeah it’s fair it was a safe idea (:

(you betcha we gon do some way cooler stuff)

Great visuals, fitting ost and fun gameplay loop. I just found the danger incoming traffic to be too sudden, i could react. But same thing in my game so touché :D

All the best!

Snappy controls, great art and music. Felt great to play.

Awesome game! The drowsy eyes mechanics doesn't feel thrown in, but rather an integral part of the challenge. It's probably one of the best twists that can be added to a lane driver.

I once got hit by a car coming the other direction while both neighboring lanes were occupied, which did feel a bit unfair. Otherwise the game is perfect!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed it! The impossible situations issue is alr solved in the postjam version but too late ig ): Do come back when we post it tho (; Thanks!

Hahaha wow. The "falling asleep" mechanic makes a fairly lax arcade game into something pretty fun!

I woke up, saw I was close to some cars, and in a panic swerved right into a truck. 10/10 would not replicate IRL.

Developer(+1)

Lolll that’s exactly what we wanted to happen!! (In game xoxo)

Super cool game.  Really captured some of the horror of driving tired.

Such a simple addition to a simple game turns it into a horror on the highway, you even have ghost cars!
This was real fun, I sadly couldn't change my name after I jokingly kept the ''enter your name here:'' name but that's fine! It's really cool that this actually has a high score list that's keeping track on things!
Love that the music build up the further you got! Good joj!

Developer(+1)

Yep we alr solved the name issue in the postjam version but too late! Such a dummy blunder You can always reset ur name by deleting ur cookies though Thanks for playing (:

that was a blast. nitpick reset key , since i crash a lot, first thought black screen, interesting but... then I figured out how it matters and started doing well. Clean art and sfx was excellent and love the dynamic speed but also in the tune, the bass was kicking it :) but the mix stayed solid. The sleepiness causing lead foot was very clever. I think I made sixth not sure ,going to play again for first  , yeah

Developer

Thanks for playing! Reset key, bet, will be in the postjam Glad u liked the music Goodjob on reaching 6th! (No first yet tho (; )

Despite how the gimmick was done, this game felt very very calming, which felt nice and not stress-unducing. It also reminded me of a game that I dont even know the name of but that I clearly played a lot in my childhood (when I was VERY little). The music helped a lot too, was very soothing and nice.

Update: finally reached 5th place in the leaderboard xD

Developer

Saw you!! Goodjobb

Glad you enjoyed the game <3

Nice entry! Tried a few times, unfortunately my best run was ended by 2 cars on either side and a ghjostdriver in the middle :(

Developer

Awesome entry! Played through a couple of times and made it onto the leaderboard (really nice touch btw)
It's a fun game with a really interesting idea, the challenge felt very well balanced and never felt unfair even when I messed up
Cool music too!

Great take on the theme, that was really cool! I enjoyed playing this game. I felt it was a bit unfair when it was game over the moment the screen got bright again, but overall I think the luck element is balanced really well. Great job!

Developer

Mhm! Shouldn’t have closed your eyes while driving frfr

We have fixed all impossible situations for the post jam version, but we are glad you still enjoyed the game as is! Thanks for playing (:

This was a really fun game! I liked your take on the theme and even though the controls were very simple, it was challenging to choose the right lane and avoid a crash - really nice work! :)

Thank you (;

Super cool take the the game jam's theme! I found the gameplay loop really fun and the leaderboard made me want to keep playing to get a better score than everyone else lol. Overall great job!

First of all having the leaderboard actaully track everyone? How? Its so cool! Secondly damn that was hard and addicting! Really fun gameloop even if the falling asleep driving is a bit scary of a concept and how it once blinked as I was surrorunded and a flashing car flew in the middle lane XD I stod no change.

Well done!! Hit the theme spot on!

Developer

Oh sorry I swear I added it to the credits idk where it went!

For this jam we used the godot SilentWolf plugin which has multiple backend stuff including hosting leaderboards.

If you use unity I also vouch for https://danqzq.itch.io/leaderboard-creator as it’s also a very dependable free service for hosting a quick leaderboard.

They do require a small amount of reading docs but they aren’t too hard!

Glad you enjoyed the game <3

This is a really cool take on a classic game.  The graphics are solid, and the music is great (I love the way it builds as you progress).  Having to drive blind was challenge, but the blinks were short enough that it was manageable, and when I messed up I felt like it was my fault and I was never blaming the game -- except that one time when all three lanes were occupied at the same time, right where my car was :P

I had fun with it; played through 3 times, enough to make it into the top 10 (the global leaderboard is another really nice addition).

Nicely done; kudos to everyone involved! :)

Developer

it’s always that one time! we fixed it but welp too late ig (`: congrats on making it to the leaderboard and thanks for playing!

Simple concept yet expertly crafted. The game feels very polished, and I really liked the music and artwork, too. The leaderboard is also a nice addition. Overall a great experience!

Wow, excellent entry! One of my favorites so far for sure, and very polished! I can tell a lot of work went into this one. I played it several times and even managed to get on the leaderboard so well done on making an engaging gameplay loop. I always appreciate when the developers take time to think about how to implement the theme into the gameplay/mechanics itself and not just put a coat of paint on the game, and I think y'all did that well. That being said, I do wish there was a little bit more to do with sleepyness. Maybe there is a drowsiness bar that determines the length and frequency of the blinks, and you can effect this bar by collecting cups of coffee on the road, forcing the players to make decision based on that. Or maybe the blinks are controlled by the player, and by blinking you reduce your drowsiness, letting it fill up all the way makes you crash. Just thinking through it because I think this was a really well made game and I love the game design aspect of making games. The gameplay itself was very simple but engaging and addicting. Being able to see the leaderboard made me want to keep playing. The controls were very tight and responsive which felt great. The art was very nice as well and I liked the little bits like the dice on the side. Song was rockin' of course, compliments to the chef. Repetitive after awhile but that's the nature of game jam music/audio in general so no fault there. Overall, amazing job! Y'all should be proud, thanks for making and sharing it :)

Developer

Congrats on the first place! The devs were quite proud of gatekeeping the first 2 (:

Thanks for the suggestions of mechanics! Yea maybe we will add something to the postjam. And yeeeep.. I’ll def make a second alternative track for th postjam too

Thanks for playing and glad you enjoyed it!!!!

Submitted

ah, so you're Ben the invincible, I take it? xD

Submitted (1 edit)

This game is really solid, simple, and still pretty fun. Trying to be the best tired driver is actually a really fun idea for a game inspired by older driving games. The music and art was great too, and the game worked perfectly. However, games with leaderboards and custom names usually have the custom name field empty so the placeholder text doesn’t get put into the leaderboard.

Developer

Thanks for playing and the feedback!

Yeah true we def should have thought about this, it was a last minute addition so we didn’t get to playtest it much. Thanks!!
