How does the game fit the theme?
Everything and everyone has turned into a mimic, leaving nothing and no one to trust, not even yourself!

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
All code and assets were made by me in the Pico 8 game engine.

I reused a few bits of code from previous games of mine with some minor changes, namely for things like the dialogue boxes and collision.

How many people worked on the game?

That's such a unique take on the theme. Great game!

Hilarious!

This was super fun, although I found the trial and error part a little annoying and unfair, but makes sense. Short and sweet!

this is the game of all time

Such a fun and cool idea!!

That created some trust issues :D
Nice game, cool concept!

I am a little biased because I love Pico 8, but DANG this is good! This is the closest game I have seen to adhere to the theme. The idea is simple, but executed beautifully. The game is really short, but it makes the absolute most out of it. I also really loved the ending, I thought I knew how it was going to end, but I was wrong. 5/5 stars. Best game I have seen so far.

Such a cool game! Very simple concept but excellently polished! Thankful for the checkpoints otherwise I might've given up long ago.
I wish I could rate higher on visuals because I'm beyond impressed by what you could achieve with the humble PICO-8 engine!

Thanks! I’m happy you enjoyed.

Really well made, love seeing pico-8 games! This was very difficult, in a good way :D

Thanks! I’m glad you liked it.

The narrative works really well in this. I felt tense when I had to rush to the space ship. Great job bulding such an atmosphere! ^^

What a cool game! At first I was a little frustrated and confused, but I really appreciated your walkthrough video to help me get started. Once I realized that it wasn't random each play what was a mimic and what wasn't and that I could learn how to get through each part/level through retries, it became such a fun challenge. And I absolutely loved the twist at the end!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad the walkthrough video was helpful.

Really fun one! I died to the SAME things more times than I'd like to admit due to skill issue, but I loved how simple this was and how it made me come back for more punishment each reset.

I'm realizing now that I unintentionally turned it into a bit of a rage game lol. Thanks for the feedback!

Submitted(+1)

Oh heck yeah! Big fan of some ragebait type action myself ;D

I hope you had a blast making this!

Greetings to you fellow Mimic enjoyer :) Liked the simple presentation and frequent checkpoints :)

Neat entry, really well done. Frequent checkpoints prevent it from getting too frustrating

Yeah, I thought about leaning all the way in to the Groundhog's Day idea, but that would be way too much if you had to play it all the way through again after dying right at the end. It's already enough of a rage game as it is, in my opinion.
