Thanks for playing :)

Thanks for playing. Will update everyone once multiplayer is ready :)

Haha, thanks for playing!

Planning to prepare a multiplayer version, will let you know!

Power ups are listed in the description, btw

Will let you know when I take it further, thanks!

I had an idea for a game with the exact same title, I think your turned out better than mine would, so I'm glad I went a different direction ;)

Countdown within countdowns, super fun and creative! Clean minimalistic art.

Simple and fun, exactly what the scope of Jam game should be! I agree that the UI could use some work with exposing the countdown theme even more!

Cool game and cool name :) Kind of off topic but if you want to try a similar experience check out my game from Junipers Game Jam ("Keep the Wheels Turning") - I have yet to see anyone complete that one ;)

Name checks out :) The UI „juice” was incredibly simple to implement, I’m glad you liked it. Just shows that the feel of the game can be improved at almost no cost.

Will definitely give multiplayer a shot in the future! Thanks :)

Thanks, will let you know when multiplayer is available :)

Yeah, the bots do feel cheaty at times - too little time to balance properly, sorry :)

The hitches tend occur only the first time something new loads in. Again - I didn’t have enough time to optimize.

Thanks for playing!

I got really attached to the torch throw, but that’s actually a neat idea for a second mode!

Kamikaze can also be used by the bots - I had an idea for bot personalities and a „deathwish” bot would always self destruct near someone; that got cut because I ran out of time. Now the bots just use it when low on fuse.

Thank you for the comment!

Click to charge the throw and aim at another player - once he is highlighted, release the button. There's a GIF in the description as well :)

Thanks for playing!

I plan to expand it in the future into a fully online game. For now, I barely made this build work :)

Thanks for the comment!

Yeah with the limited time of the Jam I couldn’t really test and optimize the web build of the game :/

And you don’t dodge the torch (well, maybe with some power-ups you can) - you just fling it back at someone else :)

Thanks for the comment!

Thank you! You are a legend for Detention Bums :)

Thank you for playing!

I learned a bit about publishing a browser game on itch - never put it in fixed 1920x1080 ;) Also implemented Leaderboards which turned out to be pretty straightforward.  I also validated that my ideas work - got a lot of positive comments on my game. Finally, I saw that I can make the player feel certain emotions thanks to proper design, which was also reflected in the feedback.

Overall, even though I was quite late to the party I'm glad I joined this as my first Game Jam!

I want to play (and rate) your games that have a Leaderboard!

You can try mine if you want as well: /jam/theveryseriousjuniperdevgamejam/rate/4713527

It's the first time I've implemented a leaderboard in a game and I was surprised how easy it was (SilentWolf).

I don't have any specific ideas - all I can tell you that once I descended into the mine it felt like an empty area. After some time I felt like I spent more time searching for resources rather than mining them - maybe that was your design but I just didn't like that. The mining itself also felt shallow - it was essentialy just 'press X to mine'.  Maybe it gets better later on thanks to upgrades, but after the first few I just wasn't hooked enough :/

Now, I think that it's not my place as a player to tell you HOW to fix this, I can just tell you my feelings and what was going on in my head. I hope that maybe some of my comments will let you improve on the game - or make it appeal to a broader audience.

I liked it, however I feel that the presentation is stronger than the gameplay itself. The actual mining is not up to par and feels a bit shallow.

/jam/theveryseriousjuniperdevgamejam/rate/4713527 Have a go :)

This is so creative and fun! I was rooting for Rick sooo hard! Great presentation as well. 5/5 no notes :)

I loved Mr. Spinnington!!Too bad I had to make him explode so many times :/

My first all 5/5 btw!

Wow, this game is criminally under-reviewed for how good it is. It's sooo creative and there's so much going on, when you introduced the phone it blew my mind - this is the true detenetion experience I guess (don't know, didn't have phones in my time at schools... come to think of it we didn't have detention as well :)) The presentation and audio is top notch! Whoever visits this page and is wondering whether it's worth a download - YES IT IS!

Also if you like pressing A and D you should try my game ;)

Great game. Ideal scope for a Game Jam entry. GO PJOTR!

This made my day!

I clicked on it for the visuals but stayed for the gameplay which was really fun while it lasted. Then I drowned in coins and my fps went to 1. Would really love for you to expand on this, great potential. Also - make the enemies do stuff!

https://fighterjettiger.itch.io/keep-the-wheels-turning give it a go :)

https://fighterjettiger.itch.io/keep-the-wheels-turning Have fun!

Thanks, opinions like that do mean a lot - I did something right :)

Wow, attempting this on a trackpad is next level torture! And don't worry, cause the game is like real life where no one pays attention to their boss' ramblings :)

That's the intended progression path ;)

Glad you liked the sound design, I fiddled around with it for a bit, but then found a combination that felt like a perfect balance of anxiety and motivation :) Thank you for the comment!

I really wanted for people not to bounce off after the first 10 seconds as it can be a bit slow. But then it picks up as you fall deeper into the corporate machine ;) Thanks for your comment!

It's actually wild for me that some jobs kinda look like this game, but not in a fun way...

Thanks for playing!

Sadly, no. But since I made the game I started incorporating those grunts in my everyday life as well :)
