How does the game fit the theme?
TURNCOATS is an autobattler which makes Trust its central mechanic. Every mercenary has a Trust value: paying wages preserves and increases it, while withholding pay and witnessing allies fall reduces it. Low Trust weakens a unit, and critical Trust can cause them to permanently defect to the opposing team. Even enemy mercenaries can switch sides, so no team is ever truly secure.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
We used Godot 4.7.2 and the GUT testing addon. Third-party assets used:
- Tiny Swords (Free Pack) by Pixel Frog: character, terrain, and UI art
- 400 Sounds Pack by ci: sound effects
- Free 25 Fantasy RPG Game Tracks Vol. 3 by alkakrab: music
- Shikashi’s Fantasy Icons Pack: item icons
- Medieval UI User Interface by ToffeeCraft: UI assets
- Weather Elements Freebie by Helton Yan: rain, wind, and thunder sounds

Very solid game! I had fun playing it.
The SFX are satisfying and the visuals look professional. The complexity was not super high but thats actually a good thing in this game jam settings. Would maybe want some more soldier and enemy types with distinct abilities but that might be a bit too much work.
Good job (:
Loved the gameplay it was really a cool auto battler, didn't like how sometimes the detail box of the pact description stays when you go to the payment and inventory screen, Really fits the theme as well, thanks for the good times and even a leaderboard! (˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧
This is a great game, and it's incredibly well-polished! My main critique is that it's a bit too easy; the gold rewards are generous enough that it doesn't offer much of a challenge. On the other hand, I think it would fit the theme better if there was always a tiny chance of betrayal—even when trust is maxed out, because the player shouldn't trust anyone! Still, it's a fantastic game overall, and I'll definitely be jumping back into it later
It's the small touches, like the change-sides pop-ups during the battle that help what might otherwise be difficult to read, very easy to follow. Great work!
very cool game!
Incredible game for a game jam there is so much variety of warriors and supplies I played few rounds but I definetly come back and train again later loved it
So much fun, and super high quality!

Wow, crazy good game! really fun to play
One of the best games I've played here so far. It is well polished and fun!
Very fun game!
this is insanely cool!! i did not expect to get sucked into this for an hour, by far the longest i've spent on a jam game so far! the concept is super fun and fits the theme really well. i cannot believe this was made in a week, the level of polish in the menus, gameplay, ui etc. is amazing. i don't think i found a single thing that was out of place or buggy. i'll definitely be coming back to play this one more!
A really fun auto battler! Great work!
WOW WOW WOW!! one of the best games I played on this jam. ive been playing it for a while now and reached round 56 haha was so much fun. I only wish I had to save my name first to keep it in the leaderboard. apart of that and maybe some balancing with the artifacts and the next wave of enemies (which became very easy after a few rounds haha) the game was super fun and I really enjoyed playing it! very well done job guys!
Wow this is so cool and polished for a 1 week game jam! At first I was a bit intimidated by all the text but it really wasn't that complicated to play and the switching sides mechanic was really interesting! And the game looks and sounds great, too! :)
Great take on the theme and some pretty unique mechanics! I like how a big team can start to become a hindrance as upkeep increases and defections become more likely.
I'd love to see this developed further with more ways to interact with the trust mechanic (or better signposting of it - as is, I had trouble telling what caused a character to lose trust or switch sides)
This is an amazing achievement for a 1 week jam! I love a good auto battler. This reminds of of "How Many Dudes?" that came out recently. You really hit on all the different criteria and tied it all together nicely.
Great visuals and audio! The concept is interesting and it was quite fun to play! I only have minor critique like the round completed audio is slightly clashing with the main battle-track, but this is nothing major. Great game!
very good game! loved how the UI of the pages connects with the game window
