How does the game fit the theme?
This is an endless runner where every land gives you three clues, but one may be lying. You have to work out which information to trust before you reach it. You do so by scrunching your keyboard to make an Origami shape.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
I made the paper origami by hand, and photoshot them. I made any visual asset, except few stock free to use things. Audios are all or mostly free assets from itch or youtube.

The core mechanic is a really cool idea! Your page was right I had not controlled a game like this before haha. Well done!

Submitted

Heck yeah! Played this on stream and it's one of the most innovative in the jam! Great work. :D

Developer

Thanks man, I really enjoyed watching you play! For anyone reading this, this guy plays jams on his stream and is doing a whole lot of good for this community, check him out he's super underrated and a great watch.

really innovative really great idea

I love the unique controls, even sometimes it gets a little hard to do the shape in time when you are very fast. But probs for trying something new!

The idea is also very good. took me a while to get the hang of it but when it clicked it was a lot of fun.

I would like to see the controls used in some other game, like a platformer or even something like a combat game.

Great work!

Brilliant idea, never would've thought of something like this!

Developer

Thanks friend! Going to try out your game.

I couldn't form the shape i want but the feeling of sprinting my keyboard is very sastifying. Amazing mechanic

Developer(+1)

Hey! Totally understandable, I'm still figuring out the most optimal gestures. Is there any feedback you can give me that can help me improve the input? Like which shapes you struggled most with? Or was it maybe just your keyboard or anything like that.

Submitted

The boat shape took me most time. However, it's not the gesture problem; more like a timing problem. I was so addicted to sprinting my keyboard I couldn't make it in time hahaha

Developer

Ah that makes sense! So you feel the game could be slower, or do you need more time/window to do the gesture (like doing one gesture you feel like needs more time to complete and register)

Submitted (1 edit)

Practicing a bit does help. But as a new player with 0 knowledge of the game, i think i would need more time guessing.
From what i experience, you only get the bonus if the shape is formed before landing. That creates some moment where i actually do the gesture but didn't get the bonus because it lands before changing shape
I'm not saying that you should make it easier, but consider being generous with the clock in the first few rounds so that 1st time players can get used to the mechanic.

However, it's a game JAM . The core loop matters to me more than balancing

Developer(+1)

Understood bro, thanks for the feedback a lot.

That was so clever! I love the feel of scrunching my keyboard! The crumple noise is soooo asmr. It would be nice if there were a few more forms tho. Overall, i loved it!!!

Developer(+1)

Wow! Thanks a lot. Loved your game too!

Submitted

This is what i would call innovation! This is a jam entry that i looked and said ''I wish I'd thought of that!'''.

Developer

sheesh im blushing! You have an awesome game too!

Submitted

Nice Idea! I love the art! Though you could have made such a great loading screen!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot! Also, you're the first to compliment me for the art which is not my strong suit, so I really appreciate it :) Loved your game btw.

Submitted

Such an awesome idea! Really cool game!

Developer

Really appreciate it! I really liked your game too, but I couldn't get past the initial dialogues, but that is probably a me problem.

Submitted

Such a unique idea! I especially loved how the keyboard almost becomes a physical controller here — swiping across the keys to fold the paper is definitely something I’ve never seen before

It takes a little time at first to understand the controls and get used to the gestures, but once it clicks, the mechanic feels really satisfying. I think a slightly smoother introduction to the controls at the beginning could make it even easier to get into. Either way, this is one of the most original mechanics I’ve seen in the jam so far!

Developer

Thanks friend! Liked your game too :)

Submitted

Probably the most unique game I've seen so far and it fits the theme perfectly, really well done

Developer(+1)

<3 Glad you like it, such an awesome compliment. Really liked your game too!

Love this unique input method!Using the keyboard's physical layout to shape shift is such a clever design.

Developer

Thanks a lot! Your game is one of my fav till now.

Submitted

Super unique input as others have said, once I got that down it was fun. I did notice there was some missing icons, I believe these are from the default font in godot.

Developer(+1)

Genuinely appreciate your feedback and your eye for detail! I believe the icons is a mismatch ill fix today I hope, in a shoot rn and not sure if ill be able to change it before the deadline. Hopefully will!

Developer

Gonna try your game when I'm home :)

Developer(+1)

fixed :)

Now I fully understand the value of having an "innovation" criterion in the scoring. With this game, it all makes sense. Congratulation

Developer

Such a big compliment, thanks a lot! Loved your game too!

Submitted

This is the most creative game I have played in this jam!

pb: 66,304m

Developer

66,304 is actually crazy. I never reached that far.

Thanks for playing :) Going to play your game when im home.

Submitted

This is an INSANELY creative idea! Great job on this game!

Developer(+1)

THANKS so much! Going to try your game too, looks interesting :)

Submitted

these controls are SO fun oh my god! felt so good to play but took a little bit to 100% get it. my poor keyboard has been battered but i had a wonderful time abusing it

Developer(+1)

Hahahahah thanks for the compliment. Loved your game super unique artstyle!

Submitted

This is such a creative idea! I’ve honestly never played anything where I had to use my keyboard like this before. Scrunching and swiping across the keys to fold the paper feels weird at first, but once I understood it, it was really fun haha.

Definitely one of the most unique mechanics I’ve seen in this jam. Great job!

Developer

Thanks a lot! Yea, I wanted to add a dedicated section at first, like a mini game where you just scrunch and fold to get used to the mechanic first, unfortunately time was running out. Thanks again for your feedback! Loved your game!

Submitted(+1)

Hard to get at first, but once you do, it's amazing. One of the craziest ideas I've ever seen.

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot! Glad you enjoyed it! Did it run smooth for you?

Submitted

yeah, no problems at all.
