The Player and NPCs take turn placing down cards, but you or another character can lie about what card they’re placing down— can’t trust anyone in this game.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
SFX materials and recordings from Freesound.org and ProSound, edited by team.

Yeah this vibes, the art, the music, the roach shopkeep with his hat, the theme of being dog toys and having the wolf in the corner - terrific!

Cool game I loved the art a lot

It was fun, it's like a simplified version of bullshit which I found interesting :), though I am not sure if it was a glitch but I was confused how you survived or failed was decided?

Submitted(+1)

Omgggg the art, the gameplay, the animations.. all so incredible! D: I felt like I had to do a lot of math though.. I was so confused on calling somebody's bluff and such. I just felt like I should let the other players just battle it out. I still really enjoyed myself though!

I love the art style, I love the combat, the animations are amazing... Sorry, wrong review. But really, great style, sadly the fonts weren´t applied everywhere. Also, I love the idea, but it was difficult to know if you win or lose the challenge and also it´s difficult to notice wich number did the rivals call. Anyway, I had a great time playing it!

First and foremost. YOU DID AWESOME! 17,000 people entered this jam and YOU are one of the 2,200 that ACTUALLY submitted something. (Some of those entries didn't even launch. Some were literally just a single .png!) This means you are EASILY in the top 10% of game devs. You had a vision. You worked it through. YOU SUBMITTED IT. That is an incredible accomplishment in and of itself. And not for nothing, I'm proud of you for that!

Notes:

Sound track - groovy vibe. i make my game's musics and know nothing but you've got drums, call and answer harmonics, arpeggiation like - this is nice. Your composer knows whats up and it loops cleanly too.

Art style, I'm in love from the main menu. Great composition.

No prompt character selection? Hell yeah i'm goin straight carrot.

Ok, no tutorial, i was absolutely lost. I'm gonna go read the tutorial on your page and try and figure it out, but I'll say you will absolutely lose players, especially in a game jam, without a tutorial.

Most players dont read your description. Most people skip cinematics. So communicating gameplay clearly is hella important. Also, that timer was way too short for me to even take in what was on the screen before I got hit with the error buzzer. And i didn't even know why lol

I love the art style, i love the vibe.

But the actual gameplay is a little confusing to read. I didn't realize that there was text at the top of the window saying what that dog doin' (WHAT THA DOG DOIN) until my third play through.

My biggest piece of feedback for this game is as follows:

Feedback and communication to the player. Make sure the player gets onboarded smoothly. Assume nothing. Highlight. Show them where to click. Bold important words. Deliver that message. Even a scripted FIRST round where the wolf tells you what and why would have this game feel SUPER polished.

Thank you so much for the feedback! Glad you enjoy the music, Mya and I did hard work on the audio. We put a little how-to page in the corner on the title screen because we were worried about the time we had left for a tutorial, but definitely a lot of players have missed it was there and we'd love to add a tutorial after the jam.

I'm ngl, the buzzer sound is misleading— right after i finished implementing it I went "oh that's way too aggressive it sounds like you did something wrong rather than just didn't call a bluff" but i haven't gotten to changing it yet. We're working on some fixes and clarifications and updates right now, so i hope you'll try it out again!

Absolutely. Thank you for putting it together - once i figured it out its actually very fun!

okay so, broccoli can take a long walk from a short pier

the game is great, the rules are clear and the controls are pretty intuitive. the art style is great and unique, i wish there was a separate rating for art and visuals because one of the only bits of feedback i have is the text at the top of the screen is not very obvious, took me a few rounds to actually notice thats where the players claimed if it was a 5 or a one.

the only other thing of note is the timer to skip or call seems a little short, this paired with the not very obvious writing made the first few rounds more tricky than they needed to be. i do however love the game overall and both of these critiques are very small and easily fixed.

Developer

Ahhh thank you! we actually have been having a few issues implementing font changes so thats something we're trying to fix! along with text appearing behind the speech bubble jgfhdsjglk but if we cant get it fixed now- we'll have time after the jam :)

I was not expecting a BS simulator this jam, but maybe that's on me. Great implementation, loved the art, music, amazing!

Let's start with the good. I'm a sucker for card games, and especially for good art, so you had me right away. I loved Liar's Bar, and this hits really close to it, so I had a great time. The music is great too, and I loved the SFX.

Now, a few things I ran into.

The first is that the wolf's dialogue sits in front of every UI element, including the text that says which number is being bluffed. That makes it really hard to call a bluff, by the time the speech bubble clears, the timer has already run out, or is closing to running out.

I also found the UI a bit inconsistent. The timer and the bluff / skip buttons are really small, while the wolf's dialogue is pretty big. The turn indicator and the bluffed card are small as well, so it's hard to know where to look.

I also wished I could open up the pile to count how many cards had been played. Though maybe not knowing is part of the game.

Still, the game is fun. If there were an online mode, my friends and I would definitely play it. It also fits the jam theme really well. Congrats!

This is such a uniquely styled game and I love all of the character options. It took me a minute to understand, but once I did it was pretty dang fun :]

This game is amazing! A ton of cool  art, with a nice detrimental (all will be fed to the lord) type style. I like it!

Your music and audio is a straight 10/10! You get 5 stars from me, biased as im a composer sound designer too and i got jealous. Otherwise, the game was a little confusing as to what is happening, but fun  overall!

Developer(+1)

Ahhh yay! our composers have been AMAZING

The rule sheet under the game clarified it for me

The visuals are incredible! Really like the artstyle! The gameplay itself is a bit confusing at first. It was a bit hard to keep track of whose turn it is.   In  my first run it was pretty odd to understand the gameplay as the NPCs were constantly drawing each others cards for some reason and I barely had to do anything to win.

Thank you for playing and feedback!

Thank you!

It was a fun and shortlived experience. The game had a great atmosphere, it was a bit hard to understand the rules at first, but after surviving a few rounds I got the hang of it.  Liked the references on the card images! Music and art style are setting the right mood, especially the wolf looks awesome.

Thank you for playing!
