How does the game fit the theme?
The game is set in a pawn shop, and people will try and lie to you constantly about the stuff they want you to buy.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Only what's on the credits of the game, on its itch.io page, which is some textures, sound effects, music, and the comic sans font.

I would play more of this if you continued to work on it. It's really well made and the gameplay felt flowed very well. Not to mention the interactions with sellers were really great. I like that you get multiple chances to reconsider the bargain price based on the sellers rebuttals. Great job!
This one got me hooked! AND I MANAGED TO SURVIVE! It was a really great experience. I’m glad I played this one! Great work! :)
This was really fun! I really enjoyed all the dialogue when trying to barter with people, it was very charming!
thank you very much <3 :D
Love the characters! The dialogues and items were well-done. I didn't manage to figure out how to sell stuff, but I was able to win anyways!
thank you for playing!
selling stuff isn't strictly required to win, actually, as your playthrough demonstrated. it's only really necessary if you need more money, cause when the debt collector shows up at the end of the game, he takes into account the price of everything you have in stock, and not just what you have in cash.
however, i surely could have added some sort of small tutorial to make sure everyone figured out how to sell stuff from the get-go, that's totally on me! thank you for the honest feedback!
Was fun either way!
the dialogue is quite nice! man tried to sell me some doodoo. nice you can hold the mouse to speed up the selection. might be funny to have a text blabber mouth you can hold the mouse down to speed up the blabber text haha. the radio should have been on by default, I went through a few customers before I even noticed it! can I get me one of those t shirts haha. oh I got shot haha... i thought this was fun and a vibe. nice! fits the theme very well.
hey! thanks a lot for playing and for the feedback!
i'm glad you had fun playing.
about the radio, deciding if it should be on by default was actually a tough decision. on the one hand, i thought maybe people wouldn't notice it right away (like what happened to you), but i also thought it would be more cool for players if i gave them some sense of discovery by rewarding them for walking around and exploring (even if it's just a tiny bit of exploration that's needed to find the radio).
i also think having it be off by default helps make clear that you can turn off the music at any time, just in case anyone was so bothered by it they couldn't even finish the game!
but even with all of that, thank you for pointing it out! i'll try and find an even better solution in the future!
We added your game in our post mortem, i hope this is okay (itch.io somehow messed up the links to the games)
it's not only okay, but also very appreciated! thanks a lot for going through the trouble of doing that :D
Fun game to say the least. Simple and fun w unique characters.
The game obviously could do with a bit more music tho, but other than that's nice nice!
thanks! and that's totally fair. maybe adding more music in the form of some other radio stations would be a cool concept, to kind of let players choose which kind of music they want to listen to.
An amazing game to play. Was a very nice and short experience. All the characters are very unique and interactions charming, which is the best quality of this game.
i'm so glad to hear that! cause i really wanted to make every character feel unique. thank you for playing, and for this comment.
Really cool concept and art style for the game! I feel like it has a lot of potential if you decide to make this into a bigger project!
i wouldn't mind expanding this game, honestly, i had a lot of fun making it.
thank you for playing and for this supportive comment!
Realizing now I should have bought the poop :D
The haggling system was really well implemented, the characters were quite interesting and the dialogue was fun!
thank you for all the praise! and don't worry about the poop thing.
actually, you're supposed to not buy it thinking it's an obvious scam (or at least that's what i thought most people would do). selling it is not required to win, and it's just a funny little detail for people who decide to go out of their way to buy the poop and hold it till the end of the game.
well I didn't buy it (thinking it was a scam) so your intent worked!
I recently discovered my love for pawn shop games, so this was right up my alley! ;-)
The game runs super smoothly in the browser, and the minimalist graphics hit the perfect sweet spot for a game jam. A good haggling mechanic is tricky to implement (we know it!), but here it actually feels authentic. I also loved the little details, like the background music coming from the radio.
It took me a minute to figure out how to sell items, but then Martha bought my poop, and I am completely out of words
oh, thanks a lot, man! very glad to hear that coming from such a powerhouse in the pawn shop niche.
the haggling system was the toughest challenge, yes, but also probably the most fun i had, along with writing the characters. i also think the haggle system in your game came out amazing too, by the way.
it's not mandatory to sell items unless you need cash (the debt collector even takes into account the prices of stuff you haven't sold yet when determining if you can pay your debt), though it's very likely that a small tutorial could have helped clarify that 100%. thanks for the honest feedback.
also you're officially the first person to discover the poop thing by themselves (or the first person to disclose it publicly at least)!
i enjoyed the game really fun
tysm for playing 🙏
liked the game a lot
thank you!!
We really enjoyed this game! Probably our favourite that we played so far. Laughed out loud at the shirt. See what you did there with having the customers look like pawns ;)
thanks so much for that!!! i'm really glad it got a laugh out of you :D
Real fun game! I like the personality and the dialog when haggling
thank you! i'm so glad you enjoyed the haggling! making every character have a distinct personality and react accordingly to your offers was my main goal with the game.
