Without spoiling too much, there are many game mechanics that lie to you(but not always).
Also, you are employed by No One.
You can trust No One.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Some sounds are from royalty free websites(namely pixabay.com). The font is VCR OSD Mono. Other than that, all art, code, and sounds were made by me or my teammate.

Well, it seems like an interesting idea and I like the cool retro monitor style, but I didn't really get very far.  🤷‍♂️
I'm a mac user, so I was playing the browser version.

It took me a long time to figure out how to close the map.
When the map is open, 'help' doesn't work.
It says to press ESC, but that just exits full-screen mode.
So I tried 'clear' which seems to stop the game. (I guess that's a bug you already know about)
I spent more time restarting the game than I did actually playing it.   🤣

I like the CRT visual effects, but I ended up turning them off because they were making my computer's fans spin like crazy! LOL.
It would be helpful to be able to toggle these on/off from inside the game.

Thanks for the Feedback! A couple things,

It says how to close the map at the bottom. help doesn't work because you are in the map(so you cant see it). Yeah, that why the windows version is better but I get that you have a Mac. Yes, I have known about clear crashing the game but I couldn't update it in the rating period. The CRT effects can be turned off in options... I don't know why they make older computers freak out but I think the web version is unpotiomized.

This is a very unique game and the sound design is impeccable! I did experience a bug though. When in the map and using the "clear" command, the game crashed. But other then that, good job on your entry!

Thanks for the feedback! I will fix that bug soon.

Edit: I loved your game as well! I just noticed which one you submitted!

Super cool concept for a game! Really nice sound effects and music. Great job!

Developer

Thanks!! I'm glad you liked it!

Very original concept! The sound effects are a big plus, and the terminal-style aesthetic is really cool. The glass breaking, mouse clicking, and computer boot up sound effects really pull you into the experience when you put on headphones. Impressive entry!

Developer

Thank you so much!

So sophisticated! Fascinating visual presentation! The suspenseful music really surprised me 🧡 Welcome to play our game!

Developer

What suspenseful music???? There is not a single track in this game...

Liked the visuals, audio design and the starting boot up sequence! Very old school vibes! One of the best entries that I've played!

Developer

Thanks so much!

Nice game! It seems I scared away the only burglar that ever appeared, lol

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Yes, the earlier shifts, the burglars aren't very smart...

But don't let that fool you.

Very cool and original idea! Love the old school vibes.  I would be into playing like a longer narrative-driven mystery-style game like this.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Our main inspiration for this was Duskers, which has some story elements, but I believe their new game Duskers 2.0 that is coming out later is more narrative focused.

So beautifull and original. A masterclass, well done :)

Developer

A masterclass?? I'm glad you liked it that much!!

I love everything about this. this is super impressive and cool, you should be super proud!

Thank you so much!!!

Really cool DOS vibes and very original idea! Great job making such a complex game within 1 week :D

Visuals and sounds are a match from heaven and both really good!

Developer

Thank you so much!

Damn nice game you got there, reminded me of superhot and fnaf, great work !

Developer

Thanks! Never thought of superhot as a reference, but then I remembered the start of the game. I definitely subconsciously remembered the computer startup from that game.

The terminal interface combined with those ASCII camera feeds creates such an unsettling, tense atmosphere!
Fantastic execution by the duo, easily one of the most atmospheric entries in the jam!

very cool game. Our games share some similarities (even used same old computer startup sound), so maybe I'm a bit biased 👍👍👍👍👍

Thanks! I played your game, and noticed that yeah... Your game is amazing too! (I rated it very highly!)

nice work ngl also this gave a fnaf plus terminal vibe

Thanks!

Really cool thing to have the game be mostly just text! Dont know why but both the web version and the windows heavily lagged for me (Might be from my part) - so I didnt get far - but great idea and visuals! Great job :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks! From what I have seen, the shaders can tank some devices performance. You can disable these in the options menu!

Vibey game with amazing sound. It reminds me of those games where you have to look for anomalies. It took me a while to figure out what to do and where to click, maybe I’m just not made for these kinds of games  :_ )

Developer(+1)

Thank you! There isn't mouse support given that it is based on computer terminals. But I'm glad you enjoyed!

Submitted(+1)

cool!

Developer

Yay!

I have to say, great job with the design, the idea is pretty cool, the visualizations using terminal is really well implemented. I wish there was a way to see the map and know about which rooms have thermal sensors, while you were in the command line, so you wouldn't have to always check the map to see which doors to close or to check if a room has thermal sensor or not. Also, I believe some of the user's input are saved in the input buffer but doesn't show it in the terminal, which makes the right command invalid and I had to write some of the commands twice because the first one was giving me errors. I really appreciate you work, Well Done.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I must say I don't understand what you are referring to with users input... If it's on the browser version it makes sense though, that version is severely undertested.
