How does the game fit the theme?
Trust none of the temple objects. But I'm certain your cat warlock friend is TOTALLY trustworthy ;3

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
All audio is free third party - one music track from Kevin Mcleod (incompetech) and the rest from freesounds.org

How many people worked on the game?

The graphics in this game are really well done!  The music and sound effects are charming, plus the controls are satisfying.  I appreciate the player acceleration and grip feel for a simple game like this.

I wish the text were faster/skippable, and I didn't particularly enjoy the backtracking aspect, as it was mostly repetitive without adding too much to the game other than artificial length, in my opinion.

I was hoping there would be something to actually spend the money on, but overall this game is super polished!

I love how you made a game with such a simple mechanic of just opening chests and touching boulders! Lowkey stealing how you used the signs at the start to explain to the player how to play. Cute art, fitting music, well thought out game design.

Only gripe is the acceleration felt off when moving diagonally. It felt slower than it should be, but it could just be i'm dumb.

It’s an interesting game.

It has a certain appeal that makes you want to dive into the dungeon again and again.

If you could spend money to upgrade the protagonist, I might get even more hooked!

The mimics sound so funny and the treasure box mimic is so evil…It chased me like 10 floors I think X w X

Developer

Haha, yeah they are tenacious! Thanks for checking us out!

On top of its lovely pixel art and sense of humour, I love how this game is all about risk vs reward by making all objects untrustworthy and the difficulty increases the further you go. Let me tell you, the enemies following you throughout floors caught me off guard.

I think my only couple of issues are that the runup feels a bit too sluggish, (especially when slightly touching objects kills your speed) and the results and cutscenes are unskippable. Also, maybe I'd put in shortcut steps that skip a few floors in case you go down too deep.

But other than that, Great job!

Developer

Thanks so much for the feedback!

Yeah, hard agree on the need to skip the cutscenes - we ran out of time on our tutorialization ):

We did have plans for an in-game shop run by your friendly and completely trust worthy cat-warlock friend, that would have included skips as a purchasable item (surely no catches right?) but alas jam time crunch got us to prioritize other things. It's a great suggestion though, so if we do add some more stuff in a post jam patch I'll push for implementing it.

pretty art and visuals, i like it and the game can get hard prettyyyy quickly, i like it well done

Developer

Thank-you! Yeah our team thinks it ramps up a bit too quick haha. We'll spend a little time post jam balancing it a bit more maybe!

Lovely art, super cute vibe! Audio is crisp and the game is really juicy. Downside: steep difficulty curve and unskippable dialogue at the start. Overall great work, loved it.

Developer

Thanks so much!

Yes hard agree on the difficulty and the unskippable dialogue. We literally ran out of time to implement it (we really cut this submission close haha). We're planning to add it post jam, and maybe do a bit of a balance pass as well. Thanks for the feedback!

Liked these Zelda-like feelings I got playing the game! Nice visuals and theme representation.

Developer

Thank-you for the kind words. TLoZ games were absolutely something i referenced for the art, so to have hit the vibe is real nice!

I don't trust cats! but this one is a warlock... and nothing ever goes wrong when trusting a warlock...

The game is very funny idea, while I love to be chased by 20 mimics would be cool to have a way to leave them behind somehow.
I also like the visuals and the music.

Very good work!

Haha, thanks for the kind words!

One of my regrets is we didn't have much time for tutorialization, so one of the tricks that we didn't point out enough is that pot mimics only follow you to the next floor if they are spawned into the floor you are on - so if you're fast enough you can escape them by focusing on trying to get to the next floor asap, giving you some breathing room... though they'll be waiting to ambush you on the way back down (and chests do not give up). This isn't super obvious though so hopefully we can make it clearer in a post - jam update.

Again thanks for the feedback!
