How does the game fit the theme?
!!Spoilers!!
The game constantly tricks you by lying about the rules of mini-games you are playing, making it an untrustworthy entity. However your exit depends on the said untrustworthy entity so you have to find your way through it.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Assets not made from scratch:
Background Music & SFX

Finally a game that actual subvert expectations without being a ragebait platformer type of game! Love the art style and writing as well OuO. The ability to fast forward text was nice addition but I would have liked if the game would have advanced as well. But other then that a hidden gem entry in my books!

Ps. Mahtava nimi myös! Yleensä tuntuu että sen keksiminen on vaikeampaa kuin itse idean kehittäminen ;_;

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, means a lot. We were really in a time crunch to finish everything up (spent first 2 days planning). Looking at the responses we might update the game with all the feedbacks and leftover ideas we had. But I am happy you enjoyed our game.

I know there was a game here and all, buuuuuut, I could play around with that background shader for days, lol.

Developer

HAHAHAHA It did turn out really well, you are not the only one who was stuck playing with it, equally guilty ;p

Wow, good concept and the execution was perfect, WELL DONE!

Developer

Thank you that means a lot!!!

Interesting idea. I would've liked a better background than the purple swirling, but I think the implementation of the theme works well.

Developer

Thanks a lot for playing out game and for the feedback :D

I love the idea of being able to play mini-games in a mainly visual novel game. However, there is a problem with how the game is lying to the players about the game rules. Why in that Pong game after I hit the paddle, I have to get scored on? And then, the spaceship game, why I do shoot a couple of enemies and then do something else that I might not know of?

Don't me wrong, it's a creative way to apply the theme of not trusting anyone. But if the plan was to manipulate the game rules, why not give hints or visual signifiers to the player that they should do something else instead?

Developer(+1)

Oh you bring up a good point. However in our defense there are visual and textual indicators that hints you to do something else.
Simplest example would be pong, where once the rule flips, you get a negative sfx and screen shake on paddle hits which is to indicate a change. However yeah, maybe the indication could've been more obvious. I appreciate the feedback

I LOVE The idea, i had a similar idea where you just make a game that just lies to it's players LOL. And you did a great execution. Copying KindgomPots comment, it's impressive with how many well polished mini games you made, and how they KEPT GETTING ME. I was dozing off at the start but I woke up real quickly after the game started laughing at me. I have no issues with this game :D

Developer

We basically spent around 2 days into planning and then went head first into developing each block and piecing them together. Then of course it was thanks to artist who was able to bring it all together. Also yes the game gets increasingly cocky by each game XD

Some people struggle making just one game and these guys made multiple games in one. Very creative too with interactions.

Developer

Oh it was a struggle, but we got it to the finish line!!! Thank you for playing our game :D

The game was fun! My favourite was the get the flag with the spaceship. Took me a while to realize :p

Developer

HAHAHA yess that part was intentionally left vague.

Pretty cool little game! Reminds me a lot of There Is No Game, which I like. Now I want to go catch some beetles myself...

Developer

There Is No Game was kind off an initial inspiration, you are on point!! Thank you for playing our game :D
