How does the game fit the theme?
You must make decisions to either escort or kill the person in front of you based on what you concluded with your interactions with them, whether they are a parasite or a human.
You must think through how each NPC speaks and not to just trust anyone
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?

very good game, love the vibe and visuals, super rogue game - well done
The psychological roguelite mechanics and CRT aesthetic fit the "Don't Trust" theme incredibly well! Having to balance your sanity points while managing paranoia, finding weapon upgrades, and fighting off fast parasites creates a super tense, immersive atmosphere. Making 90% of those sound effects with your own mouth is honestly hilarious and surprisingly effective!
A few combat, UI shader, and stability polish ideas for a post-jam update:
- CRT Shader & Font Readability: Exclude dialogue and text UI elements from the CRT shader/downscaling pass so player text stays crisp and readable regardless of screen resolution.
- Early Combat Balancing & Hitboxing: Smooth out the early parasite fights by expanding the attack hitboxes, tuning down enemy move speed in tight starting corridors, or adding a quick directional indicator to help players aim.
- Post-Boss Dialogue Bug Fix: Patch the freeze/crash trigger at the end of the boss fight so that closing dialogue node triggers properly instead of soft-locking on "what is this now".
Awesome art style, deeply engaging sanity mechanics, and incredible effort for your first time programming combat! If you get a free minute, I'd really appreciate your feedback and rating on my solo jam entry as well: /jam/brackeys-16/rate/4953523
Wow! i have no idea how you managed to pull it off! the art style is very good and i personally like it so much! the idea is great !
I really like the concept, and it's one of those games where I really genuinely felt like I couldn't trust anyone. I like the level design, but the first/second fight with the parasite was too difficult in my opinion, probably mainly because the room was so small, the enemy was fast, and it was difficult to aim with weapons. Once I got better weapons, the game seemed more balanced. I also had a problem with the game stuttering a lot, especially at the beginning and usually after entering a new level and approaching the parasites. During the boss fight, it froze completely and stayed like that. But I also really liked how many layers went into managing your sanity, having multiple factors affect it was a really valuable addition to the game. The sound design was also a big plus. The entire project is very well-crafted and it's a lot of fun to play, I felt immersed in the story. Good job! ♥
One mistake I did is balancing the beginning part of the game according to my skills... Also when the boss fight ends, its supposed to play a closing dialog but there was a bug appeared after i fixed a different bug, and its too late since the file uploads are locked lol. I'm really glad you got to enjoy the game though! (for the sound design, 90% of it were sounds from my mouth :sob:)
The font was a little hard to read but I like the concept! The combat was super hard for me though. kept losing at the first monster
Really cool game. I love the artstyle and wanted a crt for my game too xD
I enjoyed your take on the theme and setting, and it was cool finding weapon upgrades
Good game worth playing can you rate mine

Really good game! Really hard though.
nice game! Really liked how you incorporated the theme and liked the art direction and style. Combat was quite tricky though.
I'm glad you enjoyed, I'll work on my combat in the future lol
I really enjoyed this game! I'd say the combat is kinda hard to get used to but once you get it, it's fun. May play this occasionally in my free time. One thing though is that the video effects made the text pretty hard to read. It takes me a bit of effort to understand what everyone's saying.
I only realized after submitting that the text res is scaled to the screen res if i used the CRT shader which is kinda annoying, and it's also my first time making a combat mechanic so I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I like the application of the theme here. Questioning taking your sanity points was a neat mechanic. I'd have liked a little more polish on the combat though, it could get rough trying to face the parasites at times, especially when there were multiple coming at me. Still, neat little game!
It was my first time making a combat mechanic so I definitely need more practice. Thank you for trying my game out!!
I already loved the fact that you made a roguelite in this theme. I’m really glad I got to play your game!
Thank youu!! I'm glad you enjoyed
game looks really really good and the sounds effects are peak took me a while to get the hang of facing the right direction to attack the parasites and then i sadly crashed at presumably the end it just says “what is this now” on my screen :’D
all in all, had fun, might try again to get to the actual end
That happened to me once and Its not really supposed to say that, idk what's causing it, but ty for playing, means a lot!
I liked the art style a lot! I got kinda confused on how to kill the parasites, but that's alright. :)
Thanks a lot, I'll try to do tutorials for my mechanics in future projects lol
