How does your game meet GBJam's theme
You play as an old goose who lays gilded (golden) eggs. She's pretty cool.

Remove the demo tag and just say I scoped well :P. My first golden goose game props to that and thank you for the flashing warning, really appreciate it! mechanics were neat and varied enough so you had to learn how to punt the eggs, the rhymes were neat, as a lover of childrenbook stories, those are close to my heart!
Graphics wise everything is really cool, except he blockyness of the stages but I just assume it is this way due to the “demo” stage of the project. Everything else was neat!
SFX and music were great, well done on those!
Overall a super neat entry, I wish for more! Well done!
The demo tag is mostly for comparisons with my other works; I have some jam entries I consider more outright complete! The blocks in the levels are an "ascended placeholder" of sorts.
I try to have at least a blanket visual warning for the high-contrast pixel art (it can be intrinsically overstimulating) but it was the flapping of the wings that pushed it into full "this is probably outright flashing" territory.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for playing!
Not very long, but cute and clever. The graphics were really solid for a game jam game. (The thumbnail is why I clicked on it)
hi clark, i always look forward to seeing your game for gbjam every year. this one was particularly charming. echoing some of the other comments, i agree that egg laying/throwing can take a little bit to get used to. the guidance throughout the game is helpful but i don't think the controls are super intuitive since both down and B lead to egg laying. i think if down was used for something else, that would help a lot. excited for what you come up with next :)
I really enjoyed playing this! I think the mechanics you introduce in just a few screens already have a lot of potential for a much bigger game. Old Marygold’s physics feel fun, and the different ways you can throw the eggs add a surprising amount of variety. Combined with unlocking new areas, the small puzzles, and the platforming with Marygold’s slow fall/flapping mechanic, there’s a lot here that could be expanded into some really creative level design.
The concept is also genuinely funny and charming, and the art fits it really well. The animations and overall presentation give the game a lot of personality. Great job, I’d definitely be interested in seeing what this could become with more levels and polish!
Really fun and cool interpretation of the theme! The egg laying mechanics are quite amusing too. There is this weird glitch where the game covers only the lower left side of the allocated screen, but it does get fixed when going into full screen.
Still, pretty solid entry!
Really cute game! The goose is awesome and the egg kicking mechanic is super fun and satisfying. The art and music fit the Game Boy style really well too. Great job!
(pls play my game)
This game was an absolute pleasure to play. I love geese so much, and I really enjoyed the rhyming that you had going on. Soundtrack was really pleasant also.
This is the second game I've seen have am exterior with the actual buttons, it's a cool little thing to add! Well done.
Marygold is precious. <3
played smooth. felt good! i like that the abilities take a bit to master.
Really clever! Kicking the egg and dropping the egg from midair both made sense to me, and then the A+B action to launch the egg really knocked my socks off. Great potential - I hope you keep working on this! Maybe future iterations can take inspiration from soccer keep up tricks.
Such a fun concept - credit to Joyce! :D And credit to yourself for bringing it to life with such charm. I had a great time playing!
Honestly a pretty cool platformer with a nice main mechanic! The level design is an assembly of many fun ideas around the egg throwing mechanic, and feels a bit like yoshi island!
One of the more original interpretations of this jam's theme for sure, great work on the submission :)
This game is full of whimsy in its art and music, and even the "console" layer which I had to give a try on my phone. I've got to learn how to do touch controls like this for my mobile D-Pad. The shading of the block tiles create a nice optical result when I'm not focused on it. The flapping glide is very satisfying and reminded me also of Yoshi's Island. Heartwarming credits that could be felt throughout.
Well hey, this is so neat! I love a nice little game that has a core mechanic and lays it out nicely across a complete experience, with well thought out challenges that build on each other. Very lovely presentation, very cute, the goose is pretty cool indeed.
The experience is admittedly coarse around the edges --- aiming eggs is finicky --- but it's built on a solid concept that maintains its high level of quirkiness when translated into game form, and an inspired interpretation of the jam's secondary theme.
