How does your game meet GBJam's theme
You are an adventurer in search of lost relics! Coins are valuable yes, but artifacts of ages long past are metaphorically gold in their own right!

This made me very nostalgic for old Flash / Flixel games. 💚 Very stylish use of solid color. I like the protagonist's wobbly walk!
In the future, specifically for resolution-restricted jams like GBJAM or low res jam, be mindful that the game resolution isn't higher than the art resolution. The movement of objects isn't restricted to the grid.
The page says this is made in Godot. Assuming you and I are using relatively similar versions of Godot 4: while there is a lot of nuance and a lot of edge cases, the simplest "starting point" to having the correct design resolution is going to Project Settings under [Display > Window] and setting the viewport width / height to 160 x 144 (or desired resolution) and setting the Stretch > Mode to "viewport" instead of "canvas_items" (so the entire view is stretched as-is from the desired resolution, instead of being "enhanced" to a higher one).
All-in-all, great work!
Ah darn! I thought I had it right! I saw someone mention how to fix it on the Discord but I think I misunderstood exactly what was going on. These were the settings I had for the game, but after changing the mode from canvas_items to viewport just now, I see the difference clear as day.
Thanks for the catch, and also the fix! I know I can't go back and fix my issue, so lesson learned.
neat little game! all the mechanics were enjoyable. Loved the music!
Thanks a ton! ^~^
Really liked the music. i would rate the game but i am not allowed to rate i need to like rate randoms games on a list and i dont have the time for doing that.
Awesome use of parallax, explored around a bit, the map is large for a jam game. Could've been nice to have a few in game pointers to direct you towards where to go, perhaps? I swear I walked forever on the rooftops to risk it all for a chest with a dagger in it, and wasn't sure if that actually helped me (fell to my death soon after thinking that was a spot I could jump down.) Good job on the game! Definitely neat visually.
I appreciate it! I had intended on including a sign to go deeper into the mountains, but I ended up just completely forgetting to place it by the time the jam's time limit was up.
Thanks for giving it a try! ^~^
I really liked the visual style in this one, it has a very distinctive look and the parallax effect adds a lot to the atmosphere.
The background music is really nice too and fits the mood well. The gameplay is pretty simple, but visually and atmospherically it definitely stood out to me.
Oh gosh thank you for the compliments! I'm glad you enjoyed the parallax effect, it was definitely something that I enjoyed.
Thanks so much for the feedback! <3
The melancholic monochrome and understated soundtrack are a vibe. The parallax in the rooftop scene is gorgeous. You spend a lot of time walking so it's nice to have so many walk cycle frames. I got a little discouraged from exploring from how easy it was to die, but I did spend some time underground too. Might come back to this when I feel a little more determined.
Appreciate it tons! Admittedly I spent way too much time on the overworld that, once it came time for the rest, I didn't have much time to give it the proper love it could've used.
Thanks so much for trying it out! <3
Nice parallax! It's also a really cool idea to combine it with enemies to hide them. The music is so relaxing, I really enjoy it!
Thanks a ton!~
I like the black and white palette and the parallax looks just so good. I think it's a bit too difficult and punishing, at least for me. Could be fun to watch a streamer get triggered by it though :)
Thank you for the feedback! If I continue this project I'll try to balance it out more.
I genuinely love this, the art style is really cool and everything is well implemented, the game is fun, I get "a boy and his blob" and zelda 2 vibes from this. I died and fell many times. well done
Thank you so much! ^~^
