The game is made perfectly, the gameplay is a little similar to fnaf, but it would be great if there were invaluable controls for mobile devices
This is interesting game design wise. It is a lot more stressful than I expected, almost like an RTS where you have to micro to stay competitive. Though from looking at the comments, a lot of people can relate it to their IRL circumstance!
Charming pixel art. Really like the leaf animations! It's also nice when you have static views of rooms and can do linear perspective with consistent patterns for diagonal lines.
I am very bad about reading instructions, so I didn't understand how to navigate between rooms. Since the use of mouse is already mandatory to open windows, clickable navigation between rooms could help communicate the idea to players with fewer written instructions, with the added bonus of making the game mobile friendly!
Lot of feedback on this page that I agree with and won't repeat, and I've seen lots of quality commentary from the Halfbar account around the other jam games. Good stuff!
Nice concept - and my real house has been a bit hot and stuffy lately so found this very relatable! Lovely art style too. My one small critique is that the thermometer in the lower right didn't read as a health bar to me (especially in visual mode), I naturally thought it was showing me the overall temperature of the house.
The irony of me finding "Comfort" mode to be more stressful mode is not lost on me! I was blissfully unaware in Visual mode and paid the price. The length of time for this matches the frantic back and forth perfectly I think
music:
so nice and calming, it fits the game!
tutorial:
I love that it shows the text one by one with the little animation/sound.
even something as small as that can make reading a screen full of text way more enjoyable. I'm gonna keep this idea in mind because it's very clever, nice!
art:
It fits really nice and feels like there's nothing missing here!
gameplay:
without the green bar and the ui i wouldn't have been able to complete it im 99% sure.
the "green zone" is visually not that obvious only looking at the room tint. but its nice there are 2 modes therefore!
the game could maybe benefit from some randomness or variety. It's a very fun concept for a Jam and I feel like this is enough for now but in the future it'd be fun to see some things like the green area change. maybe even because the seasons change mid-game, making the comfort level different.
I really likes the fnaf vibes too, with the room switching! extra side mechanics you also have to keep track of in later levels could be fun additions maybe!
overall, great jam game guys!
I'd love to see what the future holds for this project if yall decide to continue on it ^^
Fun minigame , but i feel like the game can be kind of easy once u figure out what ur doing. I played with the visuals and ques version and once i figured out there was no desync on room temperture it just became a look at timer and close/open all windows every 5 seconds. I feel like if the game had more mechanics or maybe the rooms would have different behaviors it would solve this issue, but other than that great game!
You did a great job identifying the game's weaknesses! We expected players to point out issues with balance and repetitive gameplay, and we actually considered several ways to address them.
For example, we could have introduced different events affecting individual rooms, rooms with unique characteristics, or different minigames depending on the room. These additions would have made the gameplay more varied, but they would also have required more testing, and testing takes time.
Since this was our first game jam working together as a team of this size, we also had limited experience coordinating development under such tight deadlines. In the end, we decided not to take unnecessary risks, keep our ambitions in check, and release the game in its current form to ensure that the core experience worked properly.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and point out areas where we could improve! Our team really appreciated reading such a thoughtful and informative comment. This kind of feedback helps us understand where we can do better and create higher-quality games in the future.
Thank you! ❤️
Cute pixel art and good concept, i can think such tiny game can perfectly work on mobile.
Fun little game, I really liked the sounds and how chill it was.
Simple loop, easy to pickup and play, lovely visuals and a nice relaxing backing track to go with it all. Well done all!
Interesting idea. Having a health bar felt quite punishing, so I didn't manage to beat it. Likely a skill issue on my end.
Ive been reading about Self-Determination Theory recently and I think this game could give the player more choices. The game gets tedious for its duration as there are only a hand full of decisions the player can do during the game. Since this is a timer game, the challenge is to give the player enough choices of what to do without overwhelming them with too many choices.
Outside of the gameplay, the art is great and I you guys utilized both the theme of Autumn and staying warm really well. Good job :)
The best game I have played so far. You guys definitely killed it in terms of your goal of accomplishing a game as a team within 3 days.
Loved this game!! the gameplay kind of reminds me of fnaf... in a way? like the cameras lmao. Can get hard but thats the fun part about it!
