aaaaaaaaaa add diagonal movement aaaaaaaaaaaaa

Other than that the game was really great, I could see it being turned into a commercial project with a bit more polish

Love the game! I had fun playing it since it felt so stardew valley esque, only thing that didn't feel quite right was the fact we could'nt move diagonally.

Love the color palette (was it Hidden Library, if I am not mistaken) and the overall idea you had going. I also encountered the bug where the items sometimes overlap and "compete" for a slot, as well as an audio bug that occurred if I chopped multiple pumpkins and gathered them all at once. I do think that with some more polish, though, this can turn into something really fun. Keep at it!

chill and cute game, trying to move diagonally just makes you slower and sometimes i glitched out the items to sort of compete for an inventory slot, like picking up 2 items at once, idk how to explain it, it goes away once you drop the item. Still, really nice game just needs some sorting out and polishing. Good Job!

Haha, this game has so much charm!!! The mechanics are very stardew valley like (a game I spent at least 200 hours in) and it gave the whole brewing thing so much depth, the music was cozy. I had a bit of problem with the movement,,, it did feel pretty slow and restrictive, and having labels on the items wouldve helped me without guessing. Other than that, a pretty solid entry!!!

I liked the game for its genre as I love Stardew Valley and similar games. The art and music was nice and the atmosphere was good and fitting for the Jam!

The idea of it is nice to invest in so from a fan of the concept here are the top 5 things that would be a priority for me which I'd love to see:

  • Add diagonal movement
  • Add a way to see what the items in your inventory are (if there are I'm sorry I didn't see it)
  • Tune down the sound of steps/soundeffects. They felt a bit overtuned and you have solid music to fill the void.

Overall a good idea and fun concept and I'd love to see it being further developed! :)

Nice pixel art; I thought the tavern scene was really fun! The audio was great too. I think you've got a lot of interesting systems here, but I'd be curious how your game would play differently if there were fewer of them but each done with more depth and polish. I'd focus on iterating your player controller, too, as the lack of diagonal movement and overly eager camera movement (camera seemed to peek ahead of the player and then settle down after releasing input) held back your controls.

Wow, the pixel art in this was great! I loved all the little details in the tavern, especially the goblins getting rowdy and the kid swinging from the chandelier XD. The place felt really alive! The environments were really nicely done, and I liked all the little animations too. The brewing process was pretty neat as well, with all the different steps and ingredients involved. I found the whole game really relaxing, and the music and sfx were great. Everything was gentle on the ears and fit the cozy atmosphere nicely. Really liked the vibe of this game; great stuff!

Thanks so much for the kind words! I'm glad you were able to experience the game mostly as intended without all the bugs alot of others seem to have experienced!

I really like the art and overall goblin theme! Music is great too. But I ran into soft lock maybe, because I coildn't find barley in the forest at all. Also, I like detailed cooking/brewing mechanics with so many tools you can use for that.

This game was really solid and I really liked the art direction! The movement felt a bit slow so a faster one or a sprint feature could be nice, also diagonal movement could have improved it since without it it felt a bit tedious to walk around. Other than that great game!

Submitted

Liked the music and the not looking mechanic (Let those goblins go wild!). Overall a relaxing game, would have loved a way to change settings when playing and maybe the movement not only on the 4 directions.

I like the visuals and the theme a lot. It would be nice to walk a bit faster because while exploring there isn't really much else to do besides walking. Also I went into the tavern building and items reappeared outside but I couldn't pick them up that time again which felt a little weird.
The music makes it relaxing and it was a nice and short experience overall that could be polished with a bit more UX improvements.
Good job!

Great concept and solid visuals! Overall, it's good work. The 'Autumn' theme works perfectly, though the limitation feels missing. For gameplay, adding diagonal movement is a must for a better feel, and it would be great to support left-clicking items or using the mouse scroll to cycle through the hotbar. Briefly displaying the selected item's name would also help players know what they are holding. Additionally, the mission text in the corner is a bit hard to read; ideally, goals could be communicated visually.

Had a bit of a problem with mouse inputs in the web, but other than that a very cool and fun entry once you get used to the movement!

Nice choice of art and music which made for an overall comfy vibe. It was a bit confusing both input-wise (I kept trying to scroll to move through my inventory) and it was hard to know what was in my inventory at any given time. Good work on the game though!

The overall art is cute. Funny how the goblins are getting rowdy in the tavern lol, that definitely feels very like a tavern full of goblins. Both the farming gameplay and music is very cozy! Though I did spent a bit of time trying to find the cellar and figuring out everything in it, personally it might be better if there’s some ways to indicate the intractable objects/locations etc. Also the collision can sometimes be a little confusing. Still overall that’s a pretty impressive game.

My partner and I enjoyed this one - it's a very ambitious project. Well done on implementing so many features!
We ran into a bug where we tried to pick up two types of items at once and the the pickup sound effect looped for eternity, - we had to close the game and restart to get rid of it. We also ran into the bug described in the itch page.

Things we liked:
- The overall concept of the game was well thought out and fit the autumn theme well
- The music and cozy aesthetics
- The goblins fighting and getting up to shenanigans inside the building
- The stardew-like farming system

Things that could be improved:
- The controls. They could be more intuitive - LMB and E actions could probably be combined into one input and we kept trying to scroll through the inventory or click on it with the mouse like in stardew (we realize this is probably harder to implement though in two weeks)
- It would be nice if there was a label shown when hovering over items in the inventory or if it showed a picture of the item you need for quests so you knew what to look for.

Overall this is an awesome entry and a creative idea and we enjoyed playing through it!

Great relaxing game. The soundtrack is awesome, art style as well. The game does have depth which i truly enjoyed. And the use of the limitation was very funny and creative. As others already mentioned, diagonal movement is really necessary. That plus also names for the items you pick up, same as the other guy commenting, I had no idea what was I picking up. But still really nice game :)

Yes the movement choice seems to be the most annoying part for most people. And I did add a legend to the pause menu that shows the player what items are what, but I’m guessing not many people found that. A name above the item you’re holding would have been the play!

Thanks for playing, and the feedback!

I'm afraid I'm one of those people who can't add ingredients, so I couldn't finish the game.

Nevertheless, the concept is good and everything visual seems to be properly implemented. There are some visual artifacts between the tiles when you move, but minor things.

I feel that the autumn theme is good, but the "things change when you look away" is missing. I thought it was something about growing outside screen, but a pumpkin advanced in grow state when I was in the same screen watching it.

Some comments about the gameplay:

  • The diagonal move should be a must, since it feels bad not to be able to
  • I would give it an second check to the UI. Would be good to be able to click with the LMB the item and also circle the items bar with the mouse scroll
  • On the other hand, when you have an item selected it should pop up its name permanently or for a couple of seconds. Otherwise I don't know what I'm holding.
  • The mission text in the corner makes it hard to read and that's rough since the game is hard to play without it. The goal should be to be able to play without text.
  • Also, sometimes I already had an item a new mission asked me to collect, so I had to toss it and pick it back, instead of the system checking if I already had it.
  • On the other hand, it is possible that the stack of items is bugged. I holded 5 items with a 2 leaves sprite, then tossed them and tried to pick them back and the game only allowed me to gather 1. While other items I can pick up to 10.

Anyways, good work and I hope you, the team, enjoyed developing it :)

Thank you for the detailed feedback and trying out our game! Yes unfortunately we didn’t have enough time to catch some of these annoying and game breaking bugs ahead of time as time got away from us.

Technically the tasks don’t limit the player from progressing through the game if they knew what to do as it acts more as a guide to teach the player.

And I did add a legend for the items in the pause menu however I’m guessing not many people found that without any guidance. Hindsight I would’ve liked to put icons of the items you’re looking for in the task description. Or pop up the name above the item like you suggested!

Thanks again :)

Art was nice, and I liked the settings and the environment. I noticed that you get teleported to the door instead of the cellar entrance when you leave the cellar. I think adding sound variations to footsteps would help as well, like random pitch changes.

Hey thanks for playing and we appreciate the feedback! Unfortunately time was not on our side to do the amount of testing and bug fixing that we would have liked.

Of course! You guys did well despite the time limitations.
