This is very well done. The design language is deliberate, the story is thought-through and the use of colors (red for the phone, monochromatic grey for the environment) make the game visually appealing and unique. In addition the light shining onto the desk emphasizing where you’ll be spending your time is good.
The unique art and font used for the documents is also well done and blends together nicely. No-one document reads the same.
The game feels simple in nature, yet deliberate in execution. I am in awe, there’s a lot I can learn from this.
Thank you for playing our game. And yes! We wanted to provide you with the ability to control the map, potentially stationing your monsters near pillars or points of interests. However play-tests have proven that players stick their monsters around the altar or make the monsters follow them depending on play-style.
We had the same issue during our playtests! Our solution was to adjust the difficulty based on the players’ ability. It’s still not there yet and our game still needs further balancing, but I think it solves the issue of having players of all skill levels play your game; rather than tweaking numbers until you find the perfect balance.
The character designs are incredibly fun and immediately stood out to me. The design language is consistent and the color use is good. Unfortunately the character art is not well complemented by the background art, which I believe was either an afterthought, made by someone else or you simply lacked the time.
The calming music fits the mood of the game well, it calms you down while you enjoy a narrative experience in world with fun looking characters.
The narrative is good and is complemented by the environment, no complaints on that aspect.
Gameplay wise it’s okay. It was mostly polished with the exception of clicking to move. I found my way around easily without needing guidance or a tutorial. Clicking the ground sometimes made me feel like I wasn’t moving or I accidentally made the character move.
The story might’ve been better suited as a full animation or could’ve included more things to interact with.
Regardless, I think you should have more ratings than 0. Kudos for finishing a game with art that quite frankly inspired me. 8 minutes before the deadline no less, it’s not an easy process.
Good job :)
A very nice game with fun visuals and an addictive loop. I enjoyed playing it and the style keeps you sticking around. The core gameplay loop is well established and the mechanics are well refined and balanced. This is an impressive piece of work to hand in 3 days before the deadline considering how polished it is.
Well done :)
