So. I'm mad lol. You have managed to make the perfectly addicting game for my ADHD brain! I'm up at 1am right now because I was playing it. It was a very nice experience! Wish you added variations in the wake up animation but I also know it's tricky as I can tell you were a solo dev and you have plenty more things to worry about.
Anywho, I think you're one of the few games that really hooked me from the beginning. Congrats!
I had the idea of items you bought showing in the wake up animation to add variety, and i wouldve done that if i didnt procrastinate working on it lol. Glad you enjoyed it!
This was so much fun! A really nice platforming challenge that felt appropriately difficult without ever feeling unfair. I thought the platforming felt great, the upgrades were well-designed and felt like a natural progression, and the music and sound were also very nice; I love that BWAAAAAAMP when finally reaching the goal :P
The visual effect that limits your FOV is also really, really cool. Just a stylish game all around.
I had a blast playing through this one! My only real critique is that I would have liked to be able to speed up or skip the alarm clock animation after waking up the first time so that I could get back into the next run sooner. That, and I was going to suggest having a "wake up" button instead of having to run out the timer because I had one big fall, but I ended up using that time to collect coins so I could buy the Teddy Bear so I'm fine with it as-is :)
Awesome jam entry; you should be proud of this one! :)
Thanks for the feedback! The wake up works for a transition but i can see how it gets annoying after a few runs lol. The wake up button was planned but i forgot about it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I appreciate the compliments, many things about this game were a first time for me so iI'm glad it turned out pretty good :)
Love the concept, the gameplay, and the upgrade system! The map design though has spaces that you need to be intricate to fit which hinders the gameplay. Nothing wrong to hinder the player, but if the map design is what hinders them, that could be fatal. Either way, I really enjoyed this, unlocked every upgrade but yeah, a bit difficult but that's just skill issue on my part heh.
Thanks for having me a 100 coin dispensed for NOTHING!
Super great game/level design, this is really clever, gg!
I ASSURE you it is what I wanted. THIS TOOK ME LIKE 10 MINUTES. very great game! polished everything cool art cool visual affects cool mechanics good player controller. FINALLY a good twist for rage platformers that it actually feels worth playing. I can see this being at the top.
I hated that there was no insta kill button or something so when you fall knowing you wont continue its 25 seconds of waiting which is the BAD kind of rage. quite silly but I wish interacting with the ui had a little sfx since it was my first interaction with the game I kinda assumed it wont be as good as it turned out to be. and the double jump can often bug and not work. I personally assume this is because there is no coyote time at all which means what I assume is the first jump to the game is actually my double jump: which is not good. but great game, hope it wins something!
LMAO Thanks for the feedback, I planned for a kill button but forgot to implement one in time. The ui sfx is a good point, I didn't quite do enough work with audio, wish I could've done more. As for the buggy jumping, there is actually coyote time but it's a bit undertuned, and I think the real issue is how the game checks if the player is grounded (just a raycast from the center of the player downwards), so standing at the edge of a platform, the game may not realize youre on the ground and can jump, which makes jumping buggy. It was just used as a placeholder but I never bothered to fix it later. Appreciate the kind words, thanks!
Had a lot of fun with this one! The upgrades and learning the level felt super rewarding and enjoyable, it kept me hooked for 'just one more run'. Other than one or two jumps that felt particularly tricky to execute, I found the difficulty enjoyable.
I like the idea of connecting the platforming with upgrades and a time limit, it felt satisfying to progress more and more with each dream.
Loved unlocking all the upgrades, it was very satisfying and was a nice was of staggering game progression.
AMAZING GAME! it took me WAYYY too long to beat, but it was too much fun! Solid platforming with a really good rhythm! And i wanted to get all the unlocks. However i feel so silly for how long it took me to remember i have the E-dash ability unlocked T_T
bug note: you are able to misclick on items you already bought, which i wanted to test of course to see if the game would llet me stack multiple (˵¯͒〰¯͒˵)
I liked how satisfying it was to unlock a new upgrade each run. Great work!
Thanks for playing! Loved watching the video too. Somehow didn't notice the bug you mentioned until after the time was up, I guess I never thought to test it myself lol. I'll have to do a better job of keeping track of what common bugs might be because it seems pretty obvious in hindsight
I liked the game and the cool items in the shop, but I didn't realize you could buy them again, so I wasted some extra coins.
Thanks for playing! Buying items multiple times is a bug I didn't notice in time, I never thought to check myself lol
The game is cool, i like the idea of a dream happening again and again but never getting enough time to finish it, i like the upgrading system with milk and all, its a little hard but its good for what it is
This was fun up until the point where the jumps started to get very challenging (subjective opinion). I liked that this platformer was incremental though, it felt like I was really exploring the dream tower for a few minutes. The sounds and music didn’t bother me at all, it was pretty calming despite the difficulty. Overall, I felt like this game was pretty good :)
Thanks for the feedback! I decided to go with a harder game just because I personally like more challenging games, but given how many comments I've gotten about the difficulty I'm starting to think it wasn't the best decision lol. Glad you liked it!
This is one of my favorites so far! Super cool idea to combine a roguelike with a platformer and it fits this theme perfectly! I got all the upgrades and made it to the top. Thanks for making and sharing it :)
Thanks! I got the idea from a browser game I played as a kid called Johnny Upgrade, it uses a similar mechanic of buying upgrades between timed platformer rounds. I thought I could make something similar with the given theme :)
By far the most fun I had between the submsisions! I like the balancing you did. It starts really easy, but it gets increasinly difficult. Nice music as well
Glad you enjoyed it! This was the first time I made my own music so im glad it turned out well. This is also my first game jam so it makes me happy that people are liking my work 🥹
Nice interpretation of the theme, i liked the incremental nature of buying stuff to go further each time. The fog effect is also cool, but sometimes a bit distracting since all the platforms are also same color. The progression is also nice where you need to buy that stuff to get further. I would maybe add an option to skip the wake up animation. Nice job!
I can imagine the wake up animation gets old after awhile. I also could probably have planned out the fog effect a little more. Thanks for the feedback!
Good game here. I have fun playing the entry, so the gameplay is really good. I hated the alarm clock, so the game is giving a good vibe hehe. Graphics are appropiate to the game but sound can be more varied. In general, very good job :)
Yeah i put very little thought into the sound design, definitely something I can work on. Thanks for the feedback!
The Reddy Bear is definitely the most useful item 🔥
The mechanics are cool! I really liked the fade style in the dream with the cubes.
The adrenaline as the clock runs down is really fun! :)
Keep up the great work!
I had some ideas for the teddy bear, one idea was to make checkpoints appear when you bought it. Just ran out of time so couldn't do anything cool with it 🥲Thanks for playing!
It was really a nice touch tho
It added a cool humor to the game :)
Actually loved the game so far... I wish there was something more interesting at the top, but I guess that's it... I really love the color palette the game used; the controls are good, but the only flaw was with the dash keyframing. Pressing E precisely with WASD is kinda hard; the sound design helped hook me till the end of the game.... But still, a Great Game...
Only had 5 hours left when I started on the ending, I had better ideas but no time to make them 🫠Thanks for the feedback!
I love the mechanics and how simple it is to play, great game overall :D
simple but fun! although i do wish there was some sort of quick reset button, falling to the bottom when you're so close to the top almost guarantees that there won't be enough time left to climb back up, so you're stuck waiting for the alarm to go off. but otherwise, i felt like the progression was great, and it was super satisfying once i reached the top
A reset button is something I planned to have, but I honestly just forgot to make it lol. Thanks for the feedback!
