Really nice racing game! Reminded me of "Road Redemption".
Audio and Music were good, but engine sounds were too loud for my liking.
Loved the variety in maps and motos.
That's great feedback, thanks!
Great gameplay, super nostalgic! Impressive amount of detail for a game with this resolution. Congrats on finishing the project!
Thanks so much!
Really cool game. Retro feel, nice music and sfx. It was a bit hard on the eyes though, some of the details are just too tiny and with all the movement, it gets really muddy.
Yeah absolutely, I think this pseudo 3d style quickly sees its limits within such a small resolution. Glad you enjoyed it though! :)
Great game and so faithful to the retro style!
Thanks! Glad you liked it!!
Superb job! This brought back amazing memories of classic arcade games. That little animation where you have to go back and pick up your motorbike after a crash is such a wonderful detail! Incredible retro vibes all around—fantastic work on this entry!
Thanks so much! Your game is on my to-play list, I was following your progress on discord and am super excited to try it out!!
I enjoyed every minute of this, really well done!
Thank you so much for playing!
Love a Road Rash homage and you nailed it very well, it is very satisfying! :D
I think that was the most recent "serious" game that still featured pseudo-3D rendering (correct me on that one if I am wrong), which sometimes resulted in somewhat trippy geometry (buildings seemed to "flow" due to being "rotated" in Galilean metric instead of Euclidean metric (which then makes me wonder if anyone made a game in Minkowski space, but I digress XD)).
Great job, this is really fun to play! :D
Haha you're spot on!
Really enjoyed kicking those bikers.
Don't we all lol
Sweet memories activated...
Really like the vibe of this. I'm really bad at such games, but I enjoyed it quite a lot =)
What about having distinct buttons/keys you can punch specifically left & right?
I also like the fact that you were able to do several different locations. So cool!
Awesome game jam entry!
thank you so much! for the attack direction, if there are no enemies nearby, it is the direction the player is leaning. Whenever there are enemies to the side, the attack automatically goes to the nearest of those without needing to steer. I've gone back and forth between several systems here (it gets tricky if you need to punch an opponent while turning the opposite direction), but still unsure if this is the most intuitive for the players.
I see, thanks for the explanation!
It works fine. I was just confused at first that the X and C keys on my keyboard were not bound to the corresponding directions.
Really great demake. And the environments are spot on! I really enjoyed riding through Egypt. And the pico8 palette while using Godot is absolutely brilliant. Well scoped and well executed!
Thanks so much, glad you liked it!
Love the music in this one, and everything else really. Only thing I could say is that the blur when looking add sprites close up is a bit odd. But overall I had a lot of fun! Oh, and the silly walk back after falling of your bike is amazing lol.
Thanks so much for playing! Yes running back to the bike is also called the walk of shame lol :)
btw I loved your sandcastle game <3
Thanks, means a lot coming from the person that made this game! Oh, btw your music has been stuck in my head for almost 2 days now and I am not even mad cause it very enjoyable lol.
Really good music and visuals. Wonderful gameplay, liked the risk/reward aspect of trying to push others out of the road while trying to stay inside it myself.
My only gripe is that it seems to me that the green (ninja) bike is somewhat of a glass cannon, as it does not turn very quickly, therefore, if I wanted to stay on the road I had to stop pressing the gas, making it overall worse than the yellow bike. (lol I'm complaining bc I have bad reflexes and tend to drive on the side of the road :P)
thanks so much for the review! Indeed the green bike is the hardest one to handle and one of the fastest rides - making that combo pretty dangerous lol I should probably tone those stats down :)
The artwork and sprites in this are fantastic, great job! I particularly liked the animation for running back to the bike after you fall off, that was a really nice touch rather than just respawning.
The sense of speed is great too, the addition of speedlines and obstacles wizzing past works really well and isn't too distracting at such a low resolution. It all feels great to play, especially punching and kicking the other riders and launching them into a tree! :D
Thanks for the kind review! I played your game a ton before ratings had started and just absolutely loved it! I will leave a review as well. I love all of your games, I have fond memories of playing Beat of the Bard and A Pond Beyond during other jams we did together :)
I really appreciate the warning about obstacles! Very nice graphics, a great color palette, and nice animations.
thank you so much!
The number of mechanics, choices, and overall variety in the game is simply astonishing—it’s really cool!
glad you enjoyed it! :)
Very impressive graphics!
thank you! all credits to Momonga!
I’m super good at running back to my bike lol, gg!
haha yes I know that feeling lol
Loved it! I went back years on my head. I used to play a similar one with my dad. xD
Glad you liked it!!
Great work. You nailed the feeling of the impacts and made a racing game that felt quite compelling to play. And the final vehicle was a fun reward!
Thanks so much!
Very fun game.
I’m still kinda bad at it though since I haven’t been able to unlock any new rides yet haha.
The graphics is really well done.
Gameplay-wise, I found it intuitive to pick up. It’s easy to tell the direction of the road even with the limited resolution. I found the handling a bit frustrating though. Not sure if it’s just because of the starting ride, but I found that the bike not turning a lot more when you slow down is in contrast to many other racing games so I haven’t been able to get used to it yet.
The music is quite fun. I would have liked to have the attacking sounds more heavy and “meaty” to sell the impact better. The sound effects in the menu is also too quiet compared to the music.
For me it’s kinda hard to play it continuously for a long stretch of time though, there’s a lot of fast moving pixels, but very fun game otherwise ☺️
Thanks so much for the detailed review <3
The first ride is a bit tough to manipulate! You can unlock another bike by destroying 10 enemies, which will make handling a lot easier! :)
