What an absolutely fantastic experience! I love the way you made the instructions and upgrades diegetic, like I was reading a Victorian newspaper. The concept was super fun and I love how you used the theme. Excellent work!

Neat! I had a nice little pile of divers scooped up in the bottom left corner at one point, just getting shocked over and over again haha!
Nice work, a fun lil' game!
For the good of eelkind! Very cool game :) Nice take on the theme and I enjoyed the old-timey style and music. Super easy to pick up and play, and all the upgrades feel significant. Nice job!
This was a lovely experience! i definitely spent more time than I expected to. I loved the theme and overall feel of the game.

The upgrades felt really meaningful, which always feels so much harder to do than I expect. Good job!
Ohhh, the eels were humans all along... nice touch, haha, weird but in a good way! :D
Besides the awesome music in addition to the wholesome art, I found the balancing of your progression really good. It made the game more enjoyable, and around 10 minutes into the game, I could trap multiple divers with my shocks and 'farm' the experience. :D
Congrats on a very solid entry! <3
I think you misread it said turn on the humans not turn into humans 😂 but I guess there's nothing stopping them from being ex-humans too!
Thank you so much, I tried to make it a bit faster progression for the the jam format given that everyone would be playing a lot of games. I wish I had made the music although I did spend a fair amount of time trying to find something I thought was thematic. Making my own music/sfx was a step to far for me as a novice game dev - something I'll work on in future jams.
Interesting wording on the end screen, suggesting that eels turn on humans ;) I liked the game, it was funny, mechanics were simple and engaging, everything was easy to understand, the music was like from a black and white comedy silent movie, the upgrades were differentiated. Had fun till the very end :)
I have never felt much of an eel advocate before. This is such an awesome game. I’m glad that there was an end because I was starting to think that I was going to be playing this all night. It’s so much fun and the entire vibe fits together so well. What an awesome game, great submission!
The "WOW" every time you save an eel is amazing. Thank you for this gift. Also, the upgrades being news reports is genius.
I thoroughly enjoyed playing through this :)
It could have been even more interesting if there were additional reasons not to use your shock, like stunning yourself or damaging the other eels around you, so choosing a bigger shock radius comes with a slight cost. But it was still satisfying to choose to save up your charge to save a bigger group of eels!
Very nice submission, well done!
Really nice idea. I love it!
The instruction at the begging are well done. Great job!
No more eel pies!!! I love the original way they implemented the "charge" theme. It's been very entertaining, visually it's beautiful and the music fits perfectly, the sound of the eels "waaah" is hilarious, I love it. Congrats for your solo game!!
Really pleased you enjoyed the menu as I had a lot of fun making it, I actually wrote more "posters" but I was worried about text size for accessibility so ended up removing them.
I had another run through after your comment and realised that it was more chaotic that I had play-tested, I must've introduced a small bug on one of my last minute changes as it was spawning more divers quicker than I had designed!
This was so much fun! I really enjoyed the chaos that ensues at higher levels, and also appreciate you included an ending or else I may have been playing for hours haha. Those moments where you just manage to save an eel buddy in time are super satisfying.
Great job with the upgrade system, very creative + fleshed out story, and perfect choice of music + SFX too :)
Thanks for taking the time to play! You only get a fraction of the xp for zapping a diver without saving an eel so I thought I would reward the player if they decided they want to use up their charge to continuously zap the same divers for the hell of it! (It does reset the shock timer so there is also a small game advantage too)
eels are cute :sob: the game was a ton of fun, and super unique! I thought the difficulty was good and it ramped appropriately
