Theme Interpretation
Charge is ammunition, not energy — power cards load it, weapons spend it, enemies drain it, and the overcharge gauge lets you bank it for one big hit. It cuts both ways too: the cores don't just drain your charge, they charge at you. One enemy intent is literally called CHARGE, and the core lunges across the chamber when it fires.

Very impressive game! The visuals are great and the game feels very polished. At the start it was confusing, but since the mechanics are still simple it didn't took long for me to understand, but I think a more practical tutorial would improve the experience. Other than that, I really liked the game, and I would love to revisit it after the jam ends!

Very well put together game! The visuals are excellent and the feedback when using the UI was a particular highlight for me.

A little too information dense for me on the outset I’m afraid, but I’m also not much of a card/deck user. A little more easing in/onboarding would have been nice to see, just for the dum dums like myself. Perhaps some iconography to go along with the terms like charge/heat etc.

Overall though, i think it's a solid entry. Nice work!

Developer(+1)

As I've said previously in post, I spent a lot of time on the UI side of things to make it more user friendly, and I feel like I achieved that

Next jam I will definitely be putting more work into user icons and more things so people understand them more.

Thank you for playing spoon I really respect that

Thank you for playing

That was very refreshing deck building mix with charge theme. Fun and challenging. Congrats!

Developer

That was my aim, wko. I thank you in playing the game

If i could read, I bet I would have learned how to play the game faster. But at least I can confirm that maxing out every turn by playing every possible card just because you have the heat for it is a losing strategy ;)

As others have said, pulling off a deck builder in a single week is wildly impressive. nice work!

Developer

Well I am glad you played JD, thank you very much 😊

Taking on a deck builder for a jam!? Kudos to you! This turned out really well. Truly impressed with what you’ve managed to achieve. The game is such a vibe, really enjoyed playing. Great work.

And like… It’s not just a jam level entry, you have all the niceties I’ve come to expect from deck builders. Amazing!

Developer(+1)

I have spent the last few years seeing the market get saturated with deck builders, and I would like to try to come out with a game that's different from the narrative of another clone of slay the spire.

So this feedback has really warmed my heart, thank you aiden :)

The game was fun enough, though I think the expiration mechanic is half-baked. Honestly, it probably would have been better without it. Also, I noticed in the description that it describes there being two ticking clocks, which is a little bit misleading. To my knowledge, there is nothing telling you to speed up or slow down. I also think the game would have heavily benefited from a way to control what was/was not in your deck.

This is very impressive for being a 9-day thing! The art is very good, and I could see this concept going far.

Developer

I honestly wish I spent more time on the combat, and cards.

I spent most of my time in the last few days  getting the UI stuff user friendly and it's really annoyed me but thank you for playing

This entry is impressive! I made a deckbuilder for the last GWJ with a team of 5 and it was a nightmare, so the fact that you did this solo blows my mind. Super unique mechanics and really well-polished! Great work!

Developer

I have been learning how to deckbuilders for months now, it's like my niche. I really enjoy them

Thank you for playing my game scumpii

Great game and a very polished expierence. Feels like you got a lot of game dev expierence that went into this game. Looking at sound and visuals, it all comes together. :)

I tried looking for something that can be enhanced. I feel like the difficulty is not there and I never felt pressured to look after my hp/ losing the game.

Developer

I have about 3 years of if experience but I am constantly pushing myself to do better.

As I have said previously in the comments I spent the last couple of days working in the UI so it was user friendly and easy to understand.

Thank you for playing dahrin

I've played it a few times and I still haven't managed to beat it, but I think the amount of work behind this game is amazing.
The music and sound effects are a perfect fit, the visual style is excellent, and the chosen color palette is fantastic. After a few rounds, the card designs become easily understood at a glance, and you quickly get the hang of it. I really like absolutely everything about this game. I'm even more surprised that you did it solo!! Congrats for this amazing game!

Developer

This is honestly amazing feedback!

I spent a fair amount of my time on the UI towards the end of the game, and now i am working towards a post game jam update to correct a lot of things that people have found wrong with the game, so i hope you stick around for that because i have worked very hard on this update! <3

Game looks amazing and the effects are peak, i like how the slime looks and the gameplay with the 4 bars and cards plays nice and is polished, the enemies too look epic, great game

Developer

thank you for the awesome feedback zahir <3

The visuals and the audio go hand in hand, and it works so amazingly. Looks, sounds, and feels very polished, good job! :)

I wish I could carry over the collected stuff to the next run...
For example, prioritizing collecting charges and saving a heavy-damage card would be awesome, it would make it more strategic, I guess. :D

Solid entry, you should be proud of yourself! :)

Developer(+1)

Well thank you for the kind words on visuals and audio!

Also that is a fair thing to say, i have been asked about this multiple times and tbh i wish i spent more time on this mechanic. Most of my time in the last few days were spent on the UI side of things! Thank you for playing

Very cute game an love the overall tech like aesthetic. It does end up being a little confusing at first and did seem like there were some turns where the cards just end up not in my favour and no way to save cards for later turns but I'm also not the smartest in these games

Developer

this seems to be a common issue with the cards, i honestly spent the last 2 days of the jam working on making the in game UI user friendly. I wish i did more work to the card side of things.

There is good news, there will be a post game jam update happening to correct a lot of stuff people have suggested and said to me :)

Thank you for taking the time citers and playing! I really appreciate you <3

This is a well made game! The mechanics feel balanced and I love how you based the game partly around the middle wildcard

Developer

thank you very much Imlg! Glad you enjoyed the game <3

Really interesting ideas though I found the information very front loaded. When I was reading the itch page I felt like I didn’t understand any of the terms to make sense of things. I think what would have helped is if your starting hand could have done two, maybe three things and that is all you had to understand. I never really wrapped my head around things, though was able to survive for 25 rounds. I am not sure how close to the final boss I was though. Apart from that I think you did an amazing job coming up with an original idea and the controls were really easy to pick up.

Developer

I have a fair amount of feedback like this, i spent the last 2 days fully focused on making the UI as understandable as possible for normal players, i could did way more with the cards and made it easier to understand!

Thanks for the amazing feedback! And good luck with the jam Chip <3

Submitted(+1)

well that is a 5 star from me sir. you've managed to make such a polished game in such a short time all by yourself. well done!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you very much lickuid :)

Love the artstyle, the gameplay was super original and very loyal to the theme. My only quarrel is with the cards going stale mechanic - I wish there was a way to refresh them because at the final boss my entire deck had gone stale. However, loved this on the whole, it was sensational!

Developer

I have had this feedback a few times! Thank you for playing! <3

Very cute game! Too few cooler cards it cost me a bit to defeat the last boss.

I love the garffics and the game is very comfy to play, even tho I dont usually like deck games, I had fun with this!

Developer

thank you very much for the awesome feedback Nsup! yeah i will need to push a update after game jam is finished

Submitted(+1)

High polish, deep mechanics and amazing potential. My two bits of feedback (summarized from our discord chat) are around over-complexity (with the best before system) and frontloading. But theres a really solid deckbuilding concept here that you should feel extremely proud of!

Developer

thank you for the amazing feedback!!!

It's so cool, Amazing concept and Addictive : D
