Hey interesting game, I didn't get very far but I appreciate the authenticity and uniqueness. The track definitely felt fitting with the old NES style but I think I would make it a bit longer and have it develop for a minute or two before looping around

How does the game fit the theme?
Although there is no person-to-person interaction in this game that was rapidly made in about 5 days, there are definitely certain scenes that will test whether you should trust or not. For instance, in the third room, should you trust the person who wrote the record? Or the person who recorded it into the computer? (If you can even get there, that is...)

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
None! All by myself, an Indie Developer!

cool game, although im glad others are saying they couldnt get past the first room haha. i assume you've got to line up the missing letters from the words but i couldnt figure out the order
Making a full mystery escape game in Pico-8 for a jam is such an ambitious and bold move, and it really paid off! The minimalist pixel art, audio cohesion, and retro vibe are awesome. The puzzles in the first room can be pretty tough to figure out—especially with font/text readability—so having in-game hints or a small tutorial would help players get unstuck faster. Can't wait to see Chapter 2! I hope you also get a chance to play my game and leave a review: /jam/brackeys-16/rate/4953523
I liked the minimalist pixel-art, but I can't get past the first room. I'm a non native english speaker, so maybe thats it. I understand the three objects are the key, but I don't know the order or if the inscription of the objects has something to do with the puzzle.
Nice going with Pico-8! Unfortunately, i couldnt get past the first room(the one you spawn in). Maybe add a tutorial or smth? idk tho
Pico-8 was a bold pick, and it paid off! The pixel art and the sound set the mood really well, especially for something you made alone. Congrats! Also happy to see that you will keep working on the game!
Hey I still was not able to beat the first room lol, it would be nice maybe if there is a skip or hint option in game for those who get stuck. would be cool to see what else is hidden in the game... it is a mystery for me.
Interesting use of Pico-8! I did find some of the puzzles a little difficult to figure out, but it’s a very cool idea for a game overall.
It was really fun to play once I got the hang of the game! Good job!
I loved it! Especially the visual effects and the puzzles. Really enjoyed it and definitely looking forward to play chapter 2. Keep it up!
really like the ambience but it was a bit reepy (im terrible with creepy games)
I really like pico8 games! and it was a nice little puzzle game. needed to switch browser though, i think OperaGX has a “back” button for Z haha. Nice job!
Really nice game and loved the pixel art and music!
I would appreciate a little hint or a simple tutorial level but that could just be skill issue on my part haha
Overall great entry and well done on doing it all yourself in such a short time period :D
