OMGGG I LOVED IT!!

The story, dialogues, visuals and sound design all worked together like a charm, you guys were able to create something wonderful and soooo cute! I laughed so much at the end LOL only thing I missed was a way to reach in the conclusion with the evidences or something like that, I needed to replay it because I thought the end was fake lmao

Amazing work guys :D

this was really cool! the art is beautiful and i really enjoyed the charming dialogues. i did figure out who the perpetrator is, but didn't really feel like it was conclusive from the evidence? might just be me though. great game regardless

Very personal art style and well drawn game! The music also swings. I like the combination of the childish style, the child telling the story so to say and how the detective aspect is quite casual in combination with those elements.

There were some problems:

  • The kitchen table’s size and placement made me involuntary exit the kitchen more than once due to not wanting to walk into the chairs.
  • There’s a UI bug in how the exclamation mark gets removed if you have two overlapping or close trigger areas and you walk from one to the other (discussed/shown in video)
  • I couldn’t trigger the “who dunnit” part for quite a while and was about to give up until I accidentally said “never mind” to Eugene, I think, and that triggered it.

But over all I’m quite sure this is my favorite game so far. So well done!

LOVE the characters; all of them are so delightful!! additionally, everything about the game was incredibly cohesive, especially the color palettes, character design, and even the menu design. also big shout out to the music.  i also had a mouse detective character in my game by chance so once i saw the screenshots i had to play. had a great time figuring out the mystery :)

The game looks, sounds and feels beautiful, very good job there. Characters are charming.

On the other hand, probably it’s just me but I never figured out what do I have to do. Spent like around 10 minutes or so wandering around the house speaking with characters but had no idea of my goal is and how to achieve it.

Hi, thanks for giving the game a chance and for the feedback! Right now, there is a little booklet in the corner that fills up with clues as you explore. Objects should have a little '!' next to them to show you can inspect them. Find all the clues to figure out the cake killer!

We will probably take a look and see if we can make any changes for it to be more obvious in the future.

I really like it! it a has a comforting feeling, where it doesn't take itself to seriously, and has real feeling people

Developer

Wow, thank you! Glad you liked it!

Very nice art direction!

Beautifully drawn! The combination of blue and pink looks really striking. The story is interesting, although the text is a bit difficult to read in this font. Great job!

Very cute theme! Cool implementation and a fun story for such short time.

Loved the visuals, sound effects, music, and the hidden twist :)

This was an adorable take on the theme. The visuals, audio, and writing were all so delightful. I think the interactive objects could be conveyed a bit more clearly (maybe with an outline difference or a little twinkle). I did have a minor issue where Cheesey would interrogate characters about clues I hadn't actually found yet, which could probably be fixed with some flags in the script. But overall, I was extremely charmed by this cast and world. If you decide to develop this further I would happily spend more time here.

I found the concept interesting, but uncle Jack seems really supicious lol

Developer

Oh yeah, he's an interesting character for sure.  He could very well be guilty... the evil mastermind behind the whole thing...

Thanks for playing!

Loved the graphics, the introduction and the staging. The format is perfect for a game jam : eventually a game i finished succesfully :)

Developer

Glad you enjoyed! We really appreciate the support!

the visuals look SO GOOD! easily the best part of the game for me. The gameplay itself I enjoyed tho there wasnt much puzzling to do in order to figure out who ate the cake. I enjoyed how the characters were written as well! however pausing the game during the opening cutscene doesnt stop the dialogue which leads to the book obscuring the opening which is rather onfurtunate ^^'

The visuals of the game are absolutely adorable! The characters and their dialogues were also quite charming <3

I do think the game was a bit too big for what it actually used.  A smaller space could have led to more utilization of the objects around the house for the investigation. I wish there was more thinking and putting the pieces together for the player since I was intrigued by the cake murder!

A couple of additional comments:

  • I found a bug pre-investigation that lets Dad's dialogue option to activate when I'm no where around him in and it even came up when I was talking to Mom.
  • When I change direction really quickly, the music glitches a bit
  • Holy slippery player
  • UI/Text Boxes cover up the artwork
  • Space doesn't work for interaction TT
  • Text can be a bit hard to read

I really like this game and I hope you guys can polish it further!

Hi, thank you for checking out our game! We did have to cut a good chunk of the game due to time constraints, unfortunately leaving the place a bit barren. Thanks for all the bug feedback too! We knew about some of them, but, y'know, time constraints forced us to prioritize other things. We definitely plan on polishing the game to completion, and maybe adding back cut content too with future updates!
