How does the game fit the theme?
You are hunting your target but are also being hunted by a disguised attacker that blends into the crowd just like you
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Everything from scratch, got the carpal tunnel to prove it lol
How many people worked on the game?1

I love the concept, the visuals and the sound. Generally, moving and running were smooth, but the left-click attack did nothing for me and I could not progress in the game.
That's odd! Did you try refreshing the page? Would love to help so I have to ask what hardware you're using?
Tried refreshing, tried different disguises, and played it in Chrome and Firefox. There is no visible animation when I left-click; I'm not sure if I'm looking at a swipe attack or a projectile attack. Mid-tier PC Windows setup, dual-screens, AMD graphics card.
There's no animation on the character just your target when they die with particles
I see what you mean from the instructions that there could be a lot of potential as a multiplayer! I think the only thing lacking in this version is there doesn't seem to be much punishment for getting caught. Especially because it seems you can get killed in the lul after a successful assassination but before the next round?
A life system to get the 10 targets before dying 4 or so times would have been ideal!
Also at first I was very careful to wait until there was an opening in the crowd so I wouldn't hit someone innocent by mistake. After realising only the target can be hit I started running full speed everywhere and spamming attack like crazy lol.
Meanwhile I loved the presentation, all the little dudes have great design capturing different assassin tropes, the extra room that fades into existence was great and the 'dong' sound that plays when you get a hit somehow works beautifully with the eerie music, it always felt right. Well done!
Thanks so much, glad you liked it! Going to be inviting a few people from the jam here to a closed alpha multiplayer in a bit so stay posted!!
I like the concept but I think it's too easy for now, you can pretty much just walk towards the arrow and spam left click. Staying off the path away from everyone seems like the best option for me instead of trying to blend in with everyone. But I can see where the idea is going towards, keep it up!
Thanks for playing!
Interesting game! I think as it stands its too easy to stand in the courtyard and wait. Gives you tons of heads up for any killers coming towards you. Giving some sort of tool to help identify potential killers at the cost of alerting your target might have been a fun addition. Otherwise it seems pretty random if a killer is going to get you while you are killing another target. But neat game regardless, I think the idea is good for sure!
Thanks for playing!
I really like this premise and the style, and I really wanted to play it, but it kept freezing for me like 10 seconds in. :-(
Oh no! You're the first to mention this so I just want to do a little troubleshooting for future builds. Have you had similar problems with any other games in the jam?
It follows! this is a really fun idea
Lol! Thanks was fun to make it, though challenging as heck
I bet! congrats on finishing the complicated system (especially within the timeframe)
Going to be inviting a few people from the jam to a closed alpha for multiplayer so stay posted!
This instantly reminded me of the multiplayer mode from Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, which I used to love. The whole hunting while also being hunted mechanic works really well here. Also caught the Hunter x Hunter references, nice touch haha. Really fun concept overall, great job!
Thanks for playing, appreciate your kind words! Super inspired by that multiplayer and it kills me that we can't play it anymore (through traditional means) Went through a few ideas but thought it could fit the theme hopefully well! Glad you had fun!
This is a very fun and easy-to-grasp gameplay, I had a lot of fun ! I think it could even be a multiplayer / online / mmo game where you play with a bunch of other players.
The visuals are simple yet efficient and work well with this mechanic. The music fits well too. Great jam game and very original mechanic !
Thanks so much! Very very very excited to push it into multiplayer so thanks for the interest in further development! Focused on art and music during the jam but the loop has serious potential! Hopefully a new genre even - want to play more games like that!
Hahaha let me know if you do it, I'd love to play it with friends / my partner and chase each other !
To me it's a bit like a battle-royal but without the FPS + realistic dimension. So it's more casual friendly, yet you'd have to be strategic and adapt to how other players behave to earn points if it's multiplayer. It's also more friendly than 3D battle-royals to all the players who can't buy RAM / good computers due to the global economic context. So it could work very well <3
Appreciate the encouragement!!
Really interesting core gameplay loop, don't know if I've seen this exact concept before. Everything worked well once I got the hang of it and it was fun madly running away from enemies and chasing my targets. I especially liked the cool 80s synth-y music and the way it changes as you progressed. Great work!
Thanks for noticing the music progresses as you get more targets, nice job! Glad you enjoyed the game!! There's a sneaky bit of morse code in the menu screen song as well ;)
Nice concept, good to see you intend on developing it further. I liked the different pixel characters and creepy music!
Thanks very much! The pixel characters were my favorite part probably!
After many characters were already done I can remember deciding the mime would be too much extra work. Wasn't able to stop myself from just kinda doing it anyway lol. Same with the jester
