How does your game interpret and use the theme?
the theme is the long way home and i basically built the whole game around that
you start only around 4 km away from home and it looks like it should be really easy to get there, but the normal road is blocked so you take a detour
then that detour has another problem, then another one, and it just keeps getting worse
you end up going through a forest, village, quarry, caves, hotel and mountain roads, so instead of around 4 km you travel almost 19 km
i wanted the player to constantly think "okay now im finally going home" and then something else happens and you have to go around again
Devlog Challenge?
Easter Egg Challenge?
Easter Eggs
IF U WANT SHOOT THE CATS U WILL GET A GIFT!!!(Its one of the easter eggs)
there are a lot of hidden cats around the game
some are pretty easy to find and some need you to explore or follow clues like paw prints, little objects and sounds
you can pet them and they get added to the cat book
also maybe a small warning... dont shoot the cats lol
there is also a bigger secret in one of the villages
there is a difficult optional parkour route that leads to a hidden apartment, and inside you can find the golden revolver and some other weird stuff
theres also a message in there saying
"couldve just stayed home"
Did you use Farclip and want to be considered for the Farclip Award? (optional)
If yes, how did you use Farclip?
i used farclip to see how my levels would probably be ranked and what was weak in them
then i changed and improved the levels based on the feedback, while still testing everything myself and choosing what i wanted to keep
Game Engine?
Game Engine / Tools (Other)?
unity 6000.3.23f1, farclip, ai tools
Have you joined a game jam before?
Roughly how much time did you spend developing? (in hours)
135?
Anything else you'd like to share about your game or development process?
this game changed a lot while i was making it
there were a lot of broken things at first, especially roads, ai, performance and the detours, so i spent a lot of time just playing it, finding what felt bad and fixing it
each run to find the problem alone was around 10-30 min
probably the thing i like most is that you can sometimes literally see a road that would get you home much faster, but something gets in the way and you have to go all the way around
also there are a lot of cats (I love cats)
and the bear is annoying on purpose

First of all, I’m always impressed by people who take on a 3D project for a game jam. It seems like there’s a lot more to plan for than with a 2D game. Overall, this one kept me hooked! There were a few performance issues, though. I have a fairly powerful PC, so I doubt the stuttering was caused by my hardware.
I had fun shooting the enemies, although I was a little disappointed that I couldn’t pick up their guns))
The game reminded me of being a kid and getting lost in a good shooter. I think all the time you put into this project was well spent. Great work!
This is impressively ambitious for a game jam.
That being said, and maybe it is a hardware problem, but I played it at like 2 FPS in 2 different browsers, 3 different days, on three different networks, and could never get anything better out of it.
A downloadable build would have helped me root out a hardware versus browser or network issue.
So I’m only speaking from my actual experience based on what I could discern from the slideshow.
I’ve never built a shooting mechanic so I don’t totally know what I’m talking about here, but it seems like there is no variability in accuracy. Regardless of how far away I was with the pistol, if the crosshairs were on them then it was a hit.
There should be some sort of chance that sway, wind, or something else causes a miss in my opinion.
Also, and maybe this is explained later in the game or something, but why am I fighting an army? I get the wildlife, and really like that aspect of things, but I am confused as to why I am fighting an army.
There’s a really cool story baked in here if you take a more COMMANDO/RED DAWN/SHOOTER route with things and a weapon trained by the government is now having to fight the government or a foreign government is invading the states and you are trying to get to your weapon cash back home or something.
This prototype could be a great demo/intro section to the game where you are in town, we get invaded, and you are now trying to get home and your truck is disabled so you have to make it on foot or something.
The truck breaking down and having to walk home makes sense with the wildlife but it didn’t make much sense for a military to fight against.
Also, some stealth and survival mechanics would help a lot as well.
Overall, I thought the game is well put together and quite expansive for a 10-day jam. I didn’t finish all that was there because of the low frame rate and performance issues, but I think I got enough to experience it.
The graphics are solid, the audio is supportive, and the gameplay is well done for what is there. Just wish there were a few more mechanics and some accuracy algorithms involved.
Really solid work. The HUD elements are super clean by the way.
If you have a downloadable build I would love to give it a try and see if it performs better on my machine.
BRO, 4 KM TURNING INTO 19 KM IS THE MOST “LONG WAY HOME” THING EVER! 😂🗺️🔫
This is seriously ambitious for a jam game. I really like how the entire experience is built around the theme instead of just using it as a story detail you can literally see where home is, but something keeps blocking the way and forcing you into another ridiculous detour. The variety of environments, satisfying FPS movement, exploration, relaxing music, and all the little secrets make the world feel surprisingly large. And of course... THE CATS! 🐱❤️ Being able to find and pet them is such a fun addition, and the hidden parkour route with the golden revolver is exactly the kind of optional secret that rewards exploration.
The biggest thing I’d improve is performance and scope. With such a large world, some areas can feel empty and the heavier sections can become demanding on lower-end hardware. More checkpoints along the optional routes would also make exploration less punishing, especially when a long detour ends in a death and sends you all the way back. I’d also consider making the main journey a little shorter or more tightly paced while keeping the best detours and secrets—the amount of content is impressive, but a more compact experience could make every section hit harder.
Overall, this is a massive amount of work for a jam, and you can clearly see the effort in the map, combat, exploration, UX, secrets, and theme integration. The idea of the bear intentionally being an impossible “NOPE, GO THE LONG WAY” obstacle is hilarious too. 😂🐻
REALLY IMPRESSIVE JAM ENTRY! 🏠🗺️🐱🔥 GOOD LUCK WITH THE JAM! 🎮✨
Good job ! i love hte soudn and music of it ! the gameplay was good! the shooting feel good !
My only complain its that when you get out of the path it feel a little bit empty . But that can be fixed easily .
Overall nice game I love it !
I liked the idea, it's a game with really chill music, and you end up wondering why there's a gun in my hand, and then the guerrillas show up and caught me off guard, hahaha. Good game. :D
I have a not so powerful laptop and performance was pretty bad for me.
Sounds are nice. Visuals - a little bit too simplistic for such a setting.
It's good to have lots of features/content but it's also important to make them all play well together to deliver the experience you want to deliver.
Super ambitious experience
Gameplay experience was pretty solid! The game was a pretty standard first person shooter for the most part, which isn't to undermine it, it was very solid in basically all aspects, and the only criticism that I can make about the core of the game is that I wish the slide was a bit faster, but that's really just nitpicking. However there is a much more glaring issue that does hinder the overall experience, being the performance of the game. The framerate was really rough basically throughout the entire game, and the second I got to the town section I had to stop playing because the FPS dropped to unplayable levels. If the game was optimized this game would basically have no faults in terms of gameplay, other than maybe just being simple/standard which to be fair isn't a problem for me.
Visually the game was decent. I enjoyed the art style and the graphics were overall good. The lighting was very pleasant and the colors blended together very well. The main issue here is that appearance of distant terrain is very poor, ex. trees/cliffs/plains in the distance don't look very good. Other than that the game looks great, and the models are very polished.
Audio was good. All the sound effects were solid, and the music was pretty relaxing.
Theme interpretation was fantastic! Definitely among the best in the jam, and was executed super well, with maybe coming at the cost a bit with the gameplay, as the game is extremely long.
Overall, the game is great with just a few hiccups that hold it back a bit, but if fixed this would be a phenomenal game.
This game was very fun! :D
I really like how the environment feels so massive around you, but the path helps you keep on track! As well as the fun little decorations and props sprinkled around across the path. I found the gag of the soldier pushing you off the cliff very funny xD
Unfortunately once I got to the town my performance started dropping quite a bit and I wasn't able to make it past the guards so that's where I had to leave the game, but I had a very good time playing it :D
Cats! 😺
I love the idea of an open world and the "main" path was fun to go through. Of course there are some bugs here and there, but that was an enjoyable experience :)
But then it felt a bit too ambitious and once you go out of the main path, it feels very empty. I went around the first bear and there wasn't any enemy or checkpoints for a few minutes, so when I finally died, I got respawned at the very beginning of the game. It would be cool if you had to make choices like taking the long way or taking the shortcut but it's more difficult. And why can't I kill the bear? It's invincible!! 🐻
Thanks for playing :) And yeah the empty areas outside the main route are fair feedback.
I originally wanted the world to be more open but I just didnt have enough time to fill everything properly. So in the end I focused almost everything on one main route and left the other areas more like optional exploration.
And the bear being invincible is actually intentional I wanted it to basically say "yeah youre NOT going this way" and force you to take the long route around. Hes supposed to be way too strong and pretty much immune to bullets.
The checkpoint thing outside the main path is something I should definitely improve though. Respawning all the way at the beginning after exploring for a few minutes is pretty painful.
Glad you still had fun with it :) And yes cats had to be there 😺
Well done with this game, has some good ideas, a good FPS, nice aim and design level.
Advise, if the game is to Browser avoid the CONTROL, y used to crouch and get close the tab by accident XD
i reach the end of a trip where i get caugth and there get stuck, dont know if there is a bug or thats the end of the game
also maybe there is too mch munition, picking from the enemy fallen and the droped munition you reach easily like 300 bullets
the rest, are very well, nice 3D, good IA for the enemies, are simple but well implemented, the audio effects are good
very good entry.
It really feels like a very smooth game. I think, overall, the game design feels very well put together. In terms of feedback, I think it’s one of the best I’ve played—it feels very well thought out. I’d like the enemies to be more dynamic or for there to be more hazards, though of course, for a game developed for a jam, it’s really good.
This was very ambitious! Great work overall. Other people have already commented a lot of similar things I would have said. Its mostly just polish that it needs - gun sounds are a bit weak, I'd source some better ones. The lighting and textures could do with some work.
But those are nit picks and stuff that can be done with more time. What you managed to do in the gamejam's timeframe is super impressive. There's lots to explore and little secrets to find and I can just tell you had fun making it.
Also, the sneaky guard hiding in the booth waiting to push you off the cliff was my favourite bit haha.
Thanks a lot :) Really nice comment to read. And yeah I agree most of the weaker stuff is polish. I wanted to improve things like the gun sounds and lighting more but just ran out of time. Also yeah thats kinda a spoiler 😭 but Im glad you found that little moment because I really like it too hahaha. Thanks for playing and for checking out the smaller details :)
This was very enjoyable and had a lot of content. Movement and gameplay was satisfying and I found most of the cats!
Glad you enjoyed it :) I put quite a lot into the map so its nice to hear the amount of content didnt go unnoticed.
And nice job finding most of the cats haha. There are a few that are pretty easy to miss 😭
Really happy the movement and gameplay felt satisfying too. Thanks for playing and for leaving a comment!
There were a lot of things in this game for a 7 day game jam, good job, for me it was a bit laggy and I didn't really connect with the visuals.
Thanks for playing :) Im glad you noticed how much stuff I tried to fit into it haha. The lag is something I need to look at more. There are quality settings in the menu so lowering them might help but it should still run better by default. And yeah the visuals are definitely more of a personal style choice so I get that they wont work for everyone. Thanks for being honest about it and for the feedback!
This was a massive game and I commend you for undertaking such a big project for a 10 day jam and you did a really good job with it! I did not make it all the way through (yet) but played till 50% and have pet 1 cat till now haha (even i love cats :)).. The concept is good and full points for theme for sure! Im personally not the biggest fan of FPSs, but the combat in this one was quite forgiving and allowed someone as bad at FPS as me to proceed this far into itwithout getting frustrated. I like that you focused on the ambience and story and adding interesting elements rather than the combat. The world itself was really well designed with so much variety in the buildings roads etc. I was not a big fan of the art.. although i understand that having too many detailed 3d objects for such a large map would have blown the size out of proportion especially a web build, All the features which you implemented including QOL features like map were done well.
One other place i felt which needed a bit of improvement was on the gameplay which felt a bit long and although there was combat periodically, i thought it could have been more compact length wise. Plus i am not a huge fan of this genre, so it wasnt my cup of tea after a certain point. Other than that, i loved the audio and the general ambience of the world you built. Overall really well done :)
Thanks a lot for such a detailed comment :) I really appreciate you taking the time to write all of this.
Also 50% is already quite far haha and Im glad you found at least one cat :)
There are more waiting for you.
Im really happy the combat wasnt too frustrating even though FPS games arent really your thing. I wanted it to be more about the world ambience and little things you find along the way rather than making the shooting super difficult so its nice to hear that came across.
The feedback about the art and the game being a bit too long is fair too. The scope got pretty huge for a 10 day jam and I definitely had to make some compromises because of that. Im also really glad you noticed things like the map and other QOL stuff because I spent quite a bit of time on those.
And thanks for mentioning the audio and ambience too :) Really appreciate all the honest feedback and thanks again for playing this much of the game already.
This game is solid, the gunplay and exploration are solid and there's a lot to see. A lot of effort was made on the UX design and the menus and that's quite rare in jams so it has to be congratulated.
Now in general in jams it might be better to aim for shorter games in runtime, people rating you don't invest much time on each game and the work you put on the end of the game might be seen by a very short amount of people.
Overall great work, and great cats!
Thanks! Really happy you noticed the UX stuff because I spent quite a bit of time on the menus and map so that means a lot :)
And yeah the length is definitely something I learned from this jam 😅 I wanted to make something pretty big but youre right that a lot of people probably wont have time to see the later parts. Next time Ill probably try to keep the scope smaller and spend more time polishing what is there.
Glad the gunplay and exploration worked for you though. And of course the cats had to be there 😂 Thanks for playing!
I LOVE CATS. The game is really cute, and I love the whole concept behind it. Gameplay-wise, everything works pretty well, but I would definitely improve the visuals a lot. I’d also recommend doing some performance optimization, because for some reason the game was lagging quite a bit for me and I could hear my PC fans going crazy.
Haha glad the cats worked for you I had to put them in there.
There actually are graphics settings in the game with low medium high and ultra. I think you probably had it on ultra which could explain the lag and the fans going crazy. I usually played on high myself.
The menu is a bit weird though. For some reason Escape doesnt always open it properly in fullscreen and sometimes just messes with the window instead. If you switch out of fullscreen you should be able to open the menu and go into settings to change the quality. So yeah thats definitely something I should fix too.
And thanks for mentioning the visuals. I wanted to do more with them but the project got pretty big and I ran out of time for some of the polish.
Also thanks for playing and for the feedback :) If you ever try it again on a lower quality setting Id be curious if it runs better for you.
Okay, it’s definitely much better now that I’m playing it on Low settings!
Jumping in here because I had the performance issue too, and pretty severely. In my case I was getting around 2 FPS, and I tried the game in two different browsers, on three different days, and across three different networks, so I was able to rule out quite a few variables.
I didn’t realize there were quality settings though, so that’s one thing I didn’t test. Do you know what quality level the web build defaults to?
Seeing a few other people mention the town specifically also makes me wonder if there’s something happening there beyond just overall graphics quality. If you keep developing this after the jam, that might be an interesting area to profile.
I LOVE CATS. The game is really cute, and I love the whole concept behind it. Gameplay-wise, everything works pretty well, but I would definitely improve the visuals a lot. Very ambitious project, maybe even TOO ambitious! Spoilers for this review- I'll be using the word "uneven" a lot!
Starting with audio. You obviously took care for the audio to be detailed. There are NOT many jam games where sounds of the footsteps vary depending on what you are walking on. From the other hand- the pistol sounds like it had a silencer on, and you cant' hear the enemy shots, unless they are really close.
Graphics are pretty much the same. The cats look cute and the scale of the game is impressive. Blocky guns are ok I guess, but the enemies don't look great.
Gameplay. The guns are VERY accurate, but it worked for me- I just landed my shots from far away :) But I couldn't finish the game, because I couldn't slide under the thing in the quarry.
One of the most important skills in a game jam is time management. You need to know how much you can do in ten days. I'd say, that a game quarter the size of your would be impressive in a game jam. My general rule is to make the game in half the time and then have time for polish and bug fixing.
My advice- check out unity asset store for some assets, or work with an artist (I do!). Check out freesound.org for some good sounding sound effects. Focus on your strengths and don't overscope. I'm looking forward for your next game!
Thanks a lot for the detailed feedback! I really appreciate it
And yeah I definitely agree that I overscoped a bit 😅 There were still a lot of things I wanted to add or fix. Yesterday I literally didnt sleep at all trying to finish everything before the deadline lol. Still Im pretty happy with how much I managed to get done.
About the quarry part. You actually dont have to slide under that thing. You can just go around it. The game is pretty open so you can even go through the grass or forest if you want. I think the normal path is more fun though.
The characters were actually a style choice. I know theyre simple but I kinda like them like that. Thats obviously subjective though so I completely understand if the style didnt work for you.
If you have the time Id REALLY appreciate it if you gave the rest of the game another try. The part you played is still pretty early. Its around 10-15 minutes in total and later you get more weapons like shotguns and sniper rifles. I tried to make the combat satisfying especially with headshots being one hit kills.
Thanks again for the feedback! And if you do finish it Id love to hear what you think about the whole game and get an honest rating + feedback on the later parts too :)
I'll try to find some time to check out the rest.
Btw- I got the shotgun and the rifle. The part I got stuck on was on a narrow bridge, right after riding on a line. Falling from the bridge ended in instant death though :(
Ahh okay I think I know the place you mean now :)
If its the spot Im thinking of then you shouldnt slide there. You need to jump over it and use the climbing mechanic to get across.
And thanks for trying more of the game too. If you manage to find the time Id really appreciate it if you could beat the whole thing. Would be really nice to hear what you think about the later parts too.
Appreciate you giving it another shot :)
I noticed exactly the same thing with the accuracy, although I came away with a slightly different opinion on it. Once I realized the pistol seemed to hit wherever the crosshair was regardless of distance, I stopped having to think much about range.
I think a little spread or some other accuracy penalty over distance could make the weapon progression the developer mentioned more meaningful too. Then getting the rifle later wouldn’t just be “another gun,” it could actually change the distances you’re comfortable engaging from. Definitely subjective though. I can also see why the current accuracy feels good in a jam game where you don’t want the combat getting frustrating.
Cute idea and I love that you can find and pet the cats! I don’t really understand why people were shooting at me though.
The music was peaceful and fit the scenery.
Thanks for the feedback! :)
About the people shooting at you. There was a little cutscene at the beginning showing the bag of money. Basically you got that money from an unknown source and some people are trying to take it from you. Thats why they attack you 😅
Also there are quite a lot of easter eggs besides the cats so if you have some time you can explore a bit more. Id really appreciate that :)
And yeah you can actually shoot pretty much every character and animal in the game. Sometimes something nice can happen or you can get something from them. Just be careful for example because if you shoot the bear he will chase you and probably kill you
Ahh, that makes more sense! I must’ve somehow missed that.
I found the golden revolver, but then hit ctrl-w by accident trying to duck and pet a cat and closed the tab :’(. Will be back to try it again!
This actually answers one of the questions I had in my comment too.
One thing worth noting is that at least a few of us independently came away wondering why everyone was attacking us, even though the explanation is technically there at the beginning. That might be a sign that the story beat just needs a little more reinforcement once the shooting starts.
Even something really small like an objective update, a line of dialogue, or some environmental storytelling around the first encounter could probably connect “I have this mysterious bag of money” to “these people are specifically hunting me for it.”
I actually like that premise quite a bit now that I understand it.
