Cool game! It wasn't easy, but it was a lot of fun.

As the person before me said, This is a tough game but also fun. I did figure out the camera controls with the arrow keys but i took some getting used to.

It is a fun game. I love the shooting sound effect and the bullets themselves also look cool.

nice work :)

Developer

thank you person!

Okay this is a tough game
I don't like the camera control it's hard when I consistently kept getting rotated by walls.
Also might be skill issue but the virus bullets kept interfering my shots and it's so painful killing all of them T_T

But overall this is a pretty nice game
Not bad!

Developer

thanks for the reply!! You can actually rotate using arrow keys

good game man i got tricked in level 2 to 3

Nice start for your first game on itch! Just some constructive criticism - I wasn't sure if the movement was buggy but strafing the whole time made it difficult for a game whose main mechanics is combat. I then discovered that if I hug the wall a certain way, it would rotate my player, but it seemed more random than something I could replicate consistently, so I ended up just moving against a wall whenever I needed to turn and hoped for the best. Also because the projectile spawns behind the character, if I'm backed against the wall, the wall collides with the projectile, negating it.

Edit: I just read that you can rotate with arrow keys... ok that actually makes the gameplay MUCH better! The tank controls actually felt nice (I didn't need to use up or down since the map is pretty level).

Thank you for the feedback!

I really liked the art style, especially the rainbow shader/material of the enemies' lasers! The environment/setting and the idea of losing my edges was reminding me of Flatland: The Movie, which I really enjoyed.

Gameplay-wise I struggled. I got to the level where I looked like a flat plane, or maybe a rectangular pyramid(?). I ended up stopping because I felt that I could not defeat the enemies. I'm not sure if it was intentional or not, but at some point my decoys weren't working anymore (not spawning), and my rate of fire felt slower or equal to the enemies. As a result, I felt like every time I shot at an enemy, my laser would mainly hit their laser or it would hit the enemy and I couldn't tell if it did damage or if it did not work. Some feedback to the player here would be great! And lastly, a couple times I got pushed by multiple enemies and fell through the floor. Every time I died, I appreciated the quick restarts!

Regardless of all my gameplay struggles, I am very interested in the world you created! And I am super curious about the ending and who this mysterious voice is and what their motivations are. I loved the concept of losing my edges, and seeing my character change.

Ooh yeah the levels get progressively harder to the point where you cannot move as much and your abilities begin to fade away (press the keys a lot of times and it'll still work); that was intentional. It is the player getting weaker and weaker until .... wait that's spoilers. Just spam and memorize the obstacle patterns in your way (I found circling the viruses work to press my lasers enough to eradicate them). I appreciate you pointing out the necessity of feedback to player when enemy is hit; will make note of that for the future. As for falling to the void....yeah that's a bug.

As for the mysterious voice, keep trying the levels to find out who they are! (unless you want me to spoil it; in that case, just reply to me)

Much appreciated for the feedback!

I like it. reminds me of the old starship arcade games.

Cool concept, I like how when the player gets weaker it changes to a different shape. Doing less damage while having more enemies is a little annoying. Maybe different shapes can give you different abilities, if there are some varying mechanics between levels, the gameplay would be more fun, since it gets repetitive towards the end.

Developer

thank you for your feedback! I love to hear from commenters. I will note that the player getting weaker and weaker is part of the design and integrated in the story, and the frustration is intentional.

I like the movement mechanics. It takes a second to get used to, but that's ok. I got passed the first level (after several deaths), but gave up on the second. It's definitely a hard game. or maybe i'm just ... losing my edge hahaha. Anyway, great job! I'm sure it was a lot of work.

lmao nice use of the title. Thank you for the reply!

Very cool concept, it did lag a bit for me due to my potato pc but I liked the game overall with the well written dialogues. the mechanics and all...great work mate !

This is a cool game. I liked the dialogue and the visual variety between each of the different scenes. I was able to skip the last level by walking around the outer wall, I'm not sure if I was intended to be able to do that or not. Also one piece of feedback I would give is that I think some kind of damage indicator for the enemies, such as having them flash red or play a sound, would have made it easier to tell that the enemies had taken damage. At first I thought my shots just weren't registering on the enemies. Overall though, I like your interpretation of the theme, and I think you did a good job.

Developer

thank you for the in depth reply!

nice concept. Camera movement can be improved.

Really fun game!! I really liked the mechanic where you can only change direction after hitting a wall! Once I got the hang of it, the game became really fun to play!

It was really hard to fight back when the enemy balls rushed at me and pinned me against a wall XD I would start panicking and couldn't turn in the direction I wanted at all!!

But overall, it's a really cute and fun game! I'd love to see more levels and more abilities in the future!!

Developer

Thanks for the reply! You can actually change direction using the arrow keys (see main menu for directions).

Cool concept, the graphics feels a bit rough but overall good entry !

Cool and weird game in a good way. I had a bit of a hard time with the controls, mainly because the collision felt a little buggy at times. I think a mouse-pointing control scheme could make the movement feel much smoother and more intuitive. The story was fun though.

Developer(+1)

thank you for the feedback. A lot of people also had issue with the controls; I will make it better for my future games!

Super intriguing story and that ending was definitely worth pushing through for! The camera spinning and wall collisions were pretty janky at times, but really cool depth and concept overall.
