This has been my favorite game of the Jam so far

Developer

Thank you, that's wonderful thing to hear!

Submitted

Funny! Great idea and clear game loop! I got hooked until I get all achievements

Developer

That's awesome! Thank you very much!

Submitted

Wow, got really hooked up by gameplay, also character and general style of pawnshop is great - such a freaky place, amazing work!

Developer

Thank you! Having two people work on the art really helped!

Submitted

This is so addicting to play, also fun take on the theme! Great job!

Developer

That's great to hear! We were aiming for the ol' arcade style with the visuals and focus on highscore, and the game being addicting is certainly a part of that too!

Submitted

How could you make scamming people this fun... is it this thrilling in real life? o.o

Developer

Unfortunately you'll just have to find out yourself!

Submitted

I wanted to keep playing and had to stop lol. This is really polished, fun, and fits the theme super well. I really liked how fleshed out all the different customers were and enjoyed figuring out what each would prefer etc.. really nicely done!

Developer

I'm glad to hear you had a good time with it! Keeping the gameplay loop simple allowed us to focus on things like the characters, their looks, descriptions and item preferences.

The name is funny lmfao. This is so polished. Gameplay is so fun and I want to keep on playing!

Developer

Thank you! We created a list of possible names and Pawn Hub won out pretty handily!

Definitely one of the best games I've played so far at a game jam, I "wasted" about an hour, playing trying to reach top 1!

Developer

That's amazing! I hope you had fun all the way through (and made a good profit!)

This game is great dude! Definately one of the best ive played this Jam, It fits the theme so well with the whole pawn idea and the gameplay loop is actually really good, found myself getting immersed into it trying to maximize my offers haha.

Developer

Thank you very much! That's wonderful to hear :>

Great game! It felt really complete for a jam game!

Developer

Thank you for the nice feedback.

A solid jam entry this one! Congratulations!

Some critique:

  • There is no clear goal at the game start, or at least I missed it (played several times).
  • It is not clear which customers are selling and which are buying stuff.

Thank you so much for the constructive feedback from a fellow pawn shop lover :). We didn't want to push to hard in the direction that the player has to complete the achievements. It was more important for us that the core gameplay loop of scamming the customers and feeling the scam yourself works. the achievements and therefore end goal of the game was supposed to feel optional for player who really liked the core and wanted to keep playing.

Also every customer that has an item is selling that item and every customer can be sold every item in theory but of course some will try to scam you and therefore not agree to every deal offered.

Yeah, your intent is clear, but the bitter thing is that without the goal players would usually play with less engagement. We are just made this way, it is always easier to commit self to something if you have a clear goal, it work in games and in life in general. So consider adding some goal, it could be anything really, a number would work, or getting all achievements, or buying some specific item.

Developer (2 edits) (+1)

well something will happen if you get all achievements and the end screen to each in-game day hints at goals like "trusted customers" and 3star-customers. we just didn't want to force people to engage with these parts. they are there for the curious player to find. :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your feedback! As far as goals are concerned tastes differ of course. Personally, I like them, and I did enjoy the clear goal your game presented! We also considered spelling out a goal (starting off in debt) but went the open-ended route that's more reminiscent of arcade games.

This is soooo polishedddd!! I love how complete the game feels and I love how there's so much details (even with each characters). The game mechanic is also SUPERR addicting. Like I feel like I could play for hours just trying to get all of the achievements and fill up the pawn bible. Audio was simple but veryyy impactful! Hoenstly, I love everything about this game, not much complaints! Awesome work!!!

Thank you very much.  We are grateful for such high praise. Making the core game play loop as fun and addicting as it feels for you was our main goal. Also a personally thank you for noticing the details in the different characters. It brought a lot of joy to us to make them feel distinct, fun and apply some pop culture references as well ;)

WOW i kept getting scammed lol very cool and fun though, super polished and playable, genuinely really fun and well paced

Developer

Thank you very much for the nice feedback. As long as it felt still fun after being scammed over and over again, we did our job right :)

Submitted

Developer

Really fun and clever concept, and INCREDIBLY polished. A real standout. Great work!

Developer

Thank you so much for the kind words. We took the last 36 hours only for polishing things and we are glad to see it payed off :)

Feels like a lot of love was put into this game. The art is on point and the gameplay is fun. I ended up getting a perfect shop on day 10. I couldn't really tell when people were trying to scam me without the use of the security camera, but game was super fun and addicting. nice job!

Developer

Thank you for your nice and helpful feedback. Yeah the scamming  is more of a vibe with our game. You only realize very clearly you've been scammed with time spent in the game and when people not at all pay you close to what you payed for an item :).  But than again there is always the next trade around the corner so we are happy it feels addicting to continue playing.

Stylish and addictive and well thought with different characters
Napoleon D. is my favourite

Developer

Hehe yeah we have a lot of pop culture reference in our characters and even the main character is visually inspired by something. Thank you very much for the kind words.

Submitted

SUPER ADDICTIVE WOW. I'm definitely going to come back to this. Will you develop this game further after the jam?

Developer

Thanks so much for playing! None of us do gamedev for a living; we jump into jams purely for fun, bonding, and our love of gaming. A full release is unlikely (never say never, though!), but right now we’re just focusing on playing and rating the other entries over the next two weeks.
