How does the game fit the theme?
In this game the player is navigating a dungeon where EVERYTHING has the chance to be a mimic, including environmental objects like doors, torches and tables. The player literally can not trust anything around them; they must either be paranoid or be eaten!

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
The smoke particle effect and the skybox are from the Unity asset store. Some of the sound effects are sampled/modified from other public domain sounds (i.e. Vine Boom).

How many people worked on the game?

The dark dungeon atmosphere, paranoid prop mimics (especially the door mimic, skittering runaway arrows, and aggressive barrels!), and incredible 2D art direction make this entry an absolute standout! The shocking moment where an item eats the shopkeeper, the voice acting, and turning ordinary loot into hazards match the jam's theme brilliantly while keeping players on edge.

A few QoL, audio, and generation tweaks for post-jam updates:

- Audio & Immersion: Add player footstep SFX to deepen the creepy dungeon vibe, and punch up attack sounds so enemy encounters hit harder.

- Death Feedback & Controls: Include a clear death screen (e.g., "Killed by Weeping Angel Mimic") so players understand how they died, and speed up or enlarge the initial controls tutorial text so it isn't missed.

- Procedural Generation & Pathing: Tune corridor generation so mimics or corpses don't block narrow hallways and softlock movement.

Top-tier atmosphere, hilarious details, and stellar 2D art! If you get a free minute, I'd really appreciate your feedback and rating on my solo jam entry as well: /jam/brackeys-16/rate/4953523

I will say that we are intending to update the audio and death-feedback (and lots more!) once the review period ends, but for mimic bodies soft-locking movement, just wait 5 seconds and they'll despawn :)

perfect, I'm going to follow you to be aware of your progress, I would like you to also follow me since as soon as the jam ends I will release an exponential remaster of my game

Honestly, I found your game pretty interesting. Its labyrinthine paths are definitely intriguing. And that dark atmosphere was really well done. Not to mention the art style. It’s a good game, honestly. I’d recommend it.

great game!

Nice art direction, traversing trough the dungeon was creepy, and the mimics managed to scare me sometimes, player footsteps sfx were missing

Large team = large  success at least that how I see it. Your game was really good in fact Id probably recommend.

Really nice game overall, It was spooky and what i  enjoyed the most was the visuals, it's pretty cool and you can see how hard the 2D artist worked on it ! Great job to your team !!!

Submitted(+2)

Cool little game! Just needs a bit of extra polish and it’ll be great

A Door Mimic 🚪! . Really nice design, but I somehow died out of nowhere twice.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing our game! Unfortunately, we didn't have time to add a feature to explain how you died. You likely died from a Weeping Angel mimic that slowly crept up on you or you got ganked by a Counter Train mimic from behind while looting in a room. We plan to update the game to let players know how they died. :D

It's really scary to be walking through a dark dungeon and suddenly some random barrel moves and starts trying to eat you! I have almost no complaints, except that I wish the text that tells you the controls at the start of the game could move a little faster, but that's just a very minor thing and the rest of the game was really well-done!

When the arrow started running away from me I really rofl'd. Although I feel like it should've been possible to still use their dead bodies for your crossbow ammo XD

Well done on the atmosphere, your game managed to jumpscare me a couple times. x)

Developer(+1)

Yeah~ If you run after it and press e to pick up you get the arrow, but if you shoot it it breaks. I love when it skitters away tho. lol

Submitted(+1)

Ah, so it's supposed to work. I tried chasing it the first couple of times, I couldn't catch it, lol. XD So I thought you were supposed to kill it first.

Developer

Yeah, sometimes you have to corner them.

great game! you even added voice acting!

such a creative use of the theme. and also,

spoiler ahead

when an item i sold her ate the shopkeeper... that was so shocking and cool. one of those moments you just don't forget. good job!

Developer(+1)

HELL YEAH. The person who added that is going to be so happy you found it.

Developer(+2)

YESSSSS I knew those hours of coding were worth it!!

Submitted(+2)

they most definitely were, alex, keep it up!

it's small details like those what separates a good game from a memorable one, in my opinion.

Submitted(+2)

I really like the concept of the game and the visual looks really nice. Great work :)

The dark lighting and paranoia of every prop made this a horrifically tense experience for me! Got the hang of it after the first few days, and I enjoyed the various shopkeepers! Really loved the game!

Submitted(+3)

This game is so fun and  super smart! I love the idea of using mimics!

Submitted(+3)

awesome game, good job

One of the best i've played yet in this jam, the way you made the loot become your enemy to match the theme of the jam was really impressive! I would be nice to have more sounds and a bit more aggresive enemies.

Submitted(+3)

The game was interesting and for the first time I was really struggling to play. But, then it was very fun. And also the design, graphics were really nice. I liked it

Submitted(+4)

This game was awesome! The gameplay loop was satisfying and the visuals were great, the only issue for me was that some enemies would block passageways and cause softlocks, and there was no tutorial and I had to figure out what the keys did myself.

Developer(+2)

Hey! thanks for your feedback! The tutorial actually starts when you press play. There's some text that'll pop up explaining what keys to press! Hope this helps!

Submitted(+1)

Thanks, I didn't notice!

Developer(+2)

You're welcome! Also, Mimics should despawn after a few seconds when you kill them.

Developer(+4)

Wow the ONLY 2D ARTIST worked really REALLY hard on this game 10/10 would do it again
