How does the game fit the theme?
The cameras were sold as protection - BIRD FEED is about exposing them as a leash. Trust is broken. Birds aren't real.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
We used some Kenney assets (shout out!), our controller and parts of an experimental UI that we created. Everything else is fresh for the jam.

How many people worked on the game?

The game itself is fun if it wasn't so laggy. Another thing that was bugging me, was that there was no tutorial and you were tossed in cold water. It was rather difficult but still enjoyable to figure out the flow of the game.
But otherwise great game, keep up the good work and maybe it will get big soon!

it was very difficult and laggy and there was no tutorial. good concept meh execution

At first i didn't have a clue about the objective until i read the comments, i was only able to pass 1st wave, but after many tries i was finally able to clear 2nd wave, it was difficult to navigate the level due to the small center screen size and sensitive controls, it's a good game concept tho.

Thank you for playing LionBLAISE and for the great feedback. We hope to improve much. We really like your game by the way :)

One of the more unique games I have played in this jam. The art style is pretty good and the game was fun to play. Great work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you LazyMaid. That is high praise coming from you. It was fun hanging out and playing your game on stream! One of the coolest investigation games we have played.

Submitted(+1)

Design and concept is really cool you could take this in many directions :)

Developer

Thank you for playing Sinplea! And for your kind words!

Cool style, it's not often when i see a graffiti themed game for a jam!
The presentation is cool and it's got personality and the track is a banger!
Like everyone else said the muse sensitivity is a bit whack, but once I got used to it I found the game to be pretty fun I played a few times to memorize the layout and where everything is placed. the one thing that I found somewhat frustrating is that physics are turned on things like the crates or the trashcans so sometimes I would accidentally knock them over which made it impossible to reach some of the posters. I think it would have been helpful in general if jump on some props instead of me having to figure out these things entirely on

Hi Tetracold! Thank you for playing and for the feedback! We totally meant to include a tutorial for these reasons as the controls are somewhat complex in some areas of the game. The objects that tip over can be manipulated using grab so you can push and pull them around to your liking. I am thinking maybe we will add some way to adjust their rotation as well when push pulling for this reason perhaps. Thanks again Tetracold!

Submitted(+1)

It was hard for me to determine what my objective really was. it always seemed like the cameras were out of reach and the posters were also sometimes out of reach. I liked the layout where you have to figure out where the cameras are based on their feed, that was cool

Developer

Hi gearbutter! I wonder if maybe the inputs were an issue on your end as well. If you use the grab button you are able to climb on ladders/poles/ledges to climb up and reach things. Thank you for the playing and for the kind words & feedback. Cheers!

Banger music. The game is really fun, and the broken glass camera is cool but It's kind of hard to see the main screen. I think the camera detection should have infinite range, so at least you know you have LOS with cam.

Developer

Thanks Okasn! Happy you had fun! Thank you for the feedback as well. I intend on adding a couple of refinements to the player UI so that it adjusts its size and location based on the current shape/size of the player's feed.

Also, currently the cam detection does have infinite range. Or at least its range is equal to the camera's far view plane so if it can see you then it can detect you. There are still a couple issues with only detecting within the shape of the camera feed on screen and with losing accuracy after feed rebuilds. So, I am guessing somewhere in those inaccuracies is where the issue you are describing lies.

Thank you again!

Really unique idea having the players viewport taken up by the camera feeds and I love that you related it to real life. Great job on this! If you kept refining this, I think it could be pretty popular.

Developer(+1)

Thank you MrTech! I am so glad you enjoyed playing. We totally intend to continue to refine this and make a more complete experience! Thanks again for checking it out.

Submitted(+1)

Good luck with refinement, I will keep an eye out!

Such an interesting idea. Havent seen any graffiti games on the jam yet. Though it would be really nice to have  a mouse sensitivity setting in the game. The game  controls are really hard atleast on the mouse. Other than that the idea is quite unique and the visuals are good. Really liked how the cameras are split on the screen. Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks Vurik! Yes, input systems were our main struggle! (Up until 3am on deadline night!) Happy you like the idea and where it's headed. Hoping to beef it up and make a full release one day.

Submitted(+1)

i really liked the concept of your game! Unfortunately I had to watch a friend playing it coz the mouse sensitivity is really high and I have severe motion sickness </3

Developer(+1)

Thanks for checking it out. Yes, the mouse sensitivity is annoying and something we plan to fix!

I really enjoy graffiti games like Jet Grind Radio and Marc Ecko’s Getting Up. I felt like you tapped into those simple spray painting mechanics but gave them a Backyard Sports kind of cartoon charm. I had a hard time with the camera controls at first, but once I got the hang of them I had a really good time. Good job on the game, and thanks for sharing it!

Developer

Thanks Sunday Drive and it was fun hanging out on stream! We too are huge fans of Jet Grind Radio especially. That soundtrack makes it into my playlists to this day. Thanks for taking the time to play and give such awesome feedback :)

Cool concept; the graphics and SFX are really well done. It would be great to refine a couple of things:
1. If there's no stamina mechanic, the running feels a bit redundant—players just hold down Shift non-stop, and their finger gets cramped :D

2. Right now, you just left-click to apply paint; there’s no stealth element—you just run around spraying paint, so there’s no sense of tension.

Overall, excellent work! Keep it up!

The default music/sfx sounds are loud, maybe set it to the middle/50%  + on mouse and keyboard the mouse sensitivity is high.

Othervise good game, gave me GTA SA vibes.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback and checking it out. Glad you enjoyed. :D

Very cool concept and execution! The mechanics are cool, I had fun looking for the cameras while using the feeds. The control scheme may need a little work, I tried using the mouse, which was too sensitive, and an xbox controller, which the camera was very slow, but better while sprinting. The big problem for me was, as time went on, the game got framier and framier, and eventually it even froze my pc and I had to restart.. If it helps, I'm playing in Firefox. Really cool and unique take on the theme though!

Developer

Really happy to hear you liked it and very much appreciate the feedback. Yeah, there's a lot to tinker with going forward to get stuff optimized. Thanks again! :D

good job, also goodn streams :)

was kinda hgard to control the intensity of mosue movement, but else great

Developer

Thank you for joining us FlipWIthDrip and for checking out Bird Feed! Also thanks for the feedback and sorry about the input issue.

Submitted(+1)

Nice Game! I would like a way to adjust mouse sensitivity in the settings but overall I had alot of fun! It gets really intense once you got a bunch of cameras to deal with!

Developer

Thanks for checking it! Yes, we ran into so many input problems right at the end there but hope to clean those up before a full release (if we do that!) :D

Submitted(+1)

I like the idea, takes some time to understand the controls, but it's a fun game :)

Developer

Thanks! Hoping an eventual tutorial will help with this. :D

Submitted(+1)

I loved the spray mechanics really cool idea. The game needs some polish but the overall eastetic is really coherent. The movement needs some tune , especially the jump. Overall , great work , keep going !

Developer(+1)

Thanks WhatIdoToday, a pleasure to hang out with you today on stream.

Submitted(+1)

Takes quite a few attempts to get the hang of but once you do its a really fun game! Great job!

Developer

Hey thanks! Yes, this one needs some fine-tuning which we're planning to do more on. Thanks gain for checking it out. :D
