Art looks really good, overall the game feels extremely polished

Every time I think “fewer colors in the palette = more limitations,” I come across a game like this and think, wow. I was wrong. Bravo. I like this artstyle

This made me chuckle. I ended up giving everyone buzz cuts, skunk hair, one random bang, and the guy who said not to touch the mustache... I touched the mustache. What a great concept, I like the Gameboy aesthetic, the music fit the charming vibes, it was a nice cozy game all around. Scoring the haircuts would have been nice but I see you ran out of time (as I did!) Great entry!

That was such a cool concept! I loved the visuals and the way the haircutting was implemented. It would have been cool to have some sort of score for how well I did, but I imagine it would be really hard to figure out an effective way to implement that. Little touches like the TV were really nice. The spooky girl at the end was great.

Dang straight from the Shifty wigglers themselves! Loved your game! It was my first 5 stars on everything this jam.  We had a reference image system where the final look would have to match the same cut areas.  But we barely submitted the game with 2 minutes to spare. Big plans for the future!

Oh nice, really happy you enjoyed our game!! It's great to hear you'll be developing the idea further, it has a lot of potential!

Submitted(+1)

very very nice game and well executed game with a great art style and polish, wish we had some sort of feedback on how well we did the haircuts, it was funny having to lock in to do decent haircuts or just losing it and doing something completely crazy. the drunk effect could probably be enhanced with other stuff like blurrynes and dizyness portrayed by the camera or stuff like that.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for playing! Yeah we had a bunch of core mechanics we had to give up because of time, we will 100% include client feedback in the future amongst other things.

Awesome visuals, awesome audio, awesome gameplay idea; by far the best game Ive played this jam!

Developer

That's awesome! Thank you for the support, really!

Very funny game.

I wish I could cut the back part of the hair too

Developer(+1)

Hello, you can you just need to use the right click to target the back hair. And while holding a tool you can press the Z button to zoom in.Thank you for the comment

Just added a banner above the game with all the controls you need. It should clarify the gameplay better, wish I had done that before.

Best game I've played so far gg

Developer

Dang what a great thing to read. Thank you potato.

Submitted(+1)

A brilliant idea for a game. I found that I wasn't really getting feedback on how good of a haircut I did to their specifications. Otherwise, very enjoyable and the art is amazing!

Developer (1 edit)

Yeah we couldn't fit all the mechanics we wanted T_T

for now it's just a feel good (bad) sim experience. Thank you for cutting!

One of the best-looking games I’ve seen in the game jam so far. I absolutely LOVE the art style and the overall vibe. After each client, I genuinely wanted to keep playing just to see what curious face would show up next (although they probably won’t be coming back after the haircuts I gave them :P)

Really enjoyed this one. Simple, polished, and full of personality!

Developer(+1)

I'm sure they'll be back, it's the only barbershop in the area! Thank you for the support, really.  This is such a nice game jam!

Submitted(+1)

I love the way the theme is incorporated, I love the polish, the visuals, the UI, everything feels smooth and cohesive, very nice job!! Love the option to also save/share the haircuts, feels pretty fun for a jam!

Developer

Ty ty ty! Music to our ears! We wanted a game that was just a nice cool experience. Although some ratings at the end of each customer cut would have been great to add had we had the time...

This game is one of the prettiest I have seen throughout this jam so far. And to use the core anxiety of a barber that is not getting or doing what you want as a customer made it feel way to close to home. I don't know why but I had a crash twice on the second customer after cutting there hair a bunch. Maybe something you want to look into. I used chrome on windows if that helps to find the problem. Anyway this is a really creative idea and a gorgeous looking and sounding game.

Developer

I think it may be happening when we click a lot very fast,  especially the Right click. We haven't figured out the problem yet. But thanks for the heads up!

Thanks for the nice review it really made my day!

This is a really creative use of the theme. Good job at it. The art and the music are greatt..!!! Really enjoyable piece lol.

It was really cool! I loved the colors, sound design, and the atmosphere of the game.

Developer

this is so good thank you for creating this masterpiece i think i will go to my barbers at night now

Developer

Make sure he's not drinking on the job! Thank you!!

Submitted(+1)

Wow! Great game! I don't know why I kept crashing during the second client but I had fun!

Developer

Oop! I hope you were able to progress past that... Thanks for playing!

A super creative direction for the theme! But your propaganda failed, still have complete faith in my barber.

Congrats to the team, this one is now on my list of favorites!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you so much! We’re really happy you enjoyed it and honored to be on your favorites list :>

We will aim our next propaganda towards your barber, there's no way we can allow them to derail the empire.

I really liked this! It's a very nice and relaxing, yet simultaneously stressful, game. I got lost in the random haircut art XD

Well done!

Developer(+1)

Relaxing for us, definitely not for the customers, lol.
Thank you so much for playing and commenting!  We're really glad you enjoyed it!

This has been the best submission to Brackey's I've played so far. Original take on the theme, awesome aesthetics and audio. Few pointers for your enhanced "cut" version in the prep. Streamed here:

I just watched your stream, and I really can’t thank you enough! It was so nice to see the player experience firsthand, and your haircuts were honestly pretty good... much better than mine!

We’ll definitely implement the control instructions in-game and add more ways to manage the drunk level, etc. You can also press the save button on the Polaroid screen to download the actual Polaroid to your PC and share it if you’d like. Like you said, it would be really cool to have all of them displayed on a wall at the end, so you can look back and see how everything went.

Thanks again! you genuinely made my day!

The art is absolutely stunning! I loved the concept and mechanics as well, spent more time than I'm proud to admit on some haircuts and they still ended up awful hahah

Absolutely amazing job! I'm looking forward to see where you take this game in the future. I'm already hooked with the story, just looking at the warnings on the TV.

Developer

What I’ve learned is that the less time you spend on them, the better. I keep accidentally shaving half their head after a while
Really appreciate the support, thanks! Hopefully, in the future, we can flesh out the story and add more mechanics and things to do.
