How does the game fit the theme?
This Game is based around a seemingly normal date which couldn't POSSIBLY go wrong...
... Or could it?
And also...
... Why does she seem so jittery in this weather?
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Got some help from a few peeps on discord for some code like tweens and such.
Music and SFX was taken entirely from https://pixabay.com/
Assets like the character models, house models, pizza model, and small props were taken from free / resources.
How many people worked on the game?1

Yo W obsession ref lol. I think have small braincells to be able to understand this game to its fullest (I'm quite young soo...) but I loved it!
Haha no yeahh it's supposed to be a BIT ambiguous in the end, so it's totally fine if you didn't get it properly.
(Dw, I'm young too haha, teenage's the best lol)
When playing as Matt, the dialogue options seemed so unhinged but then it all made sense lol. Great take on the theme
That was so intentional! Glad you loved it!!
cool game this is my frist date that gone wrong xD
As someone who rarely gets social anxiety (got this from comments), I struggled to understand what she was going through. Still, a really interesting and thought-provoking game, and a nice Obsession reference. I think you can interpret this in many ways, just people being scared of monsters in their head.
Haha yeahh, it IS a bit difficult to relate to the thing if you haven't experienced it much before. This game just tries to provide a lens through the person going through stuff like this. Nothing serious, but just something you'd think about at 2AM, haha
I couldn't play the game in browser, so i downloaded and played it. It has a few visual issues like sudden darkness and dithering, may be it's intentional but I don't know. I can see that lot of hard work put into the game, with some polish this will be a real fun game to play.
congrats on the submission. Hope you will update it after jam, I'll surely give it another try <3
Yeahhh sorry about the browser issues, it DOES work but takes a good few seconds to load.
The sudden darkness I tried to fix but couldn't fight it at all so had to leave as is.
Unfortunately I do NOT plan on working on this one after the jam ends, but thanks for the feedback either way!! Will be doing similar projects in the future tho
The narrative in this was so great! I love the dithering sooo much
Glad you liked the visuals!!
oh this was WILD. Really liked the visuals and the narrative, it specially close home to me because I used to struggle a lot with social anxiety, and that thing of making up monsters and running away from everything is sooo real. I hope you need don't deal with that, and if you, know that things get better!
Besides what other people have said, II'd also shorten the transition screen's time by half. Also, I don't know if it was purposeful to make the dinner tables so big (and make us feel small), but if it was not, it's good practice to keep a scale checker the size of your player in every 3D project you make.
Congrats!
Love the critique!! Yeahh, the scale was something I had fight with quite a bit and just settle w what worked best. And the transition scene is as long because I thought it'd play into the atmosphere and mysteriousness, guess it just became a bit of a slag tho.
Also thanks for checking in!! But thankfully I'm NOT suffering from any severe conditions, it's just I somehow know how to present stories in a decent manner ; P
I like this style of games, its my favorite, and u nailed it, also the the theme with the way u interpreted it... cool stuff
*don't read this if you haven't played the game, and go play it. it's short and cool*
visuals and audio are amazing. that dithering effect was on point. a very polished game, overall. i enjoyed it, well done!
the atmosphere you built is probably what i liked the most about it, along with the very interesting depiction of mental illness.
Thank you, Thank youu!! I appreciate that people are liking the visuals and ambience of the thing!!
Really liked the PS1-style visuals, and the gameplay was fun too. I was honestly waiting for a jumpscare the whole time lol.
Yk you love the wait more than the actual thing! Haha!
Loved the game, just the audio might be waaaay too loud, especially the cellphone one, but the story and visuals are top notch
Yeaaaaaahh I noticed, hence why I updated the game's page earlier to warn about the volume, can't do much else now, so oh well.
The game had great visuals really love the style
Haha ikrrr, love the support!!
This game had tons of atmosphere! please add a volume slider.
Thank Youu!!
Sadly I can't add something like a volume slider, as much as it'd benefit, due to the no edit rule. I did realise the volume issue, but it was a bit too late for that.
Thanks for playing either way!!
Fun narrative game where we didn't know what was going to happen next! Gonna go order some pizza now. :)
I second this being the most uncomfortable date of my life lol. But the #1 jump scare was the text messages! I had my vol at 1 and it was SO loud 😂 - game jams b spook sometime
Haha Thank Youu!!
Idk what's the issue w the dialogue being this loud, but guess I should just add a Loudness Warning at my front page lmaoo
The most uncomfortable date of my life. You did good, dude!
Let's gooooo!! Thanks a bunch!!
I think you went too hard on the theme, I have existential crisis now 😅 Seriously, i'm not sure what happened, other than that, the graphics were really cool; though it would become black sometimes; and the message bubble being empty on the phone or the phone not scrolling automatically when receiving a new message. Overall great submission!
Glad you enjoyed my work!! Although I would be really grateful if you removed the spoiler for others :P
Yeahh, the black screen is just used as a transition screen.
The Phone UI scroll was just something I couldn't get working properly, just had to settle for that in the short jam time. That along w a few small bugs are just the things I couldn't figure the fix for
Oh sorry, haven't seen the answer immediatly. I got you :)
A wild ride, and a great take on the theme!
Much Lovee!!
Amazing experience! I loved the twist, made my mind trippy xd! Congrats on getting this out! I had to lower down my browser volume though, but other than that the story is very engaging!
Thank you! Would've liked if you didn't spoil the thing for others (or edit it to mark for spoiler), but it means alott!!
