How does the game fit the theme?
It's in the narrative twist.
Further explanation may spoil the experience.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
The bus sound effect, some complex 3D models used for the backgrounds (Cars, the truck, the weird-looking sketchy machine...) and the text fonts ("Type Machine" and "Vinque")
All other 3D models, Sprites, Code, Music, Writting and Sound effects were made from sratch by our sleep deprived team.

I really enjoyed the story and most things were pretty smooth. The running animation had me gagged. I would've made their stride smaller. Overall, the game was good. Good job devs
good game, but i clicked go to downstairs when nothing happened and i cant click anything
Thank you. We'll see if we can replicate the bug and fix it.
Edit: I was able to identify the cause and managed to fix it. Thanks a lot.
The changes won't be public until the rating period is over, since modifying the game during the rating period would go against the spirit of the jam, but it will be fixed in the post-jam build.
Wow this is very impressive and I can see an incredible amount of work was put into this project, I don't usually play these full on puzzle/story focused games but this was a pleasant surprise! The unique blend of 2d hand drawn visuals in a 3d scene made for an interesting audio-visual experience!
Great looking game! Really good character art. Didn't really understand how the twist worked but maybe I'm just a dumbdumb...
SPOILERS AHEAD.
If you are reading this and haven't played the game, stop reading and go play it. It takes 10 minutes.

When you read the case report, you find out that your father was found dead from a gunshot wound and he had a gun in his hand. The report also mentions that, according to the marks on the projectile, the bullet that killed him seemed to have been shot with the very same gun he was holding, however, when they found him, no bullets were missing. So the case seems impossible.
When you are asked to go pick up your father's belongings, that same gun is given to you. You end up going back in time with a machine that your father had (If you read the obituary in the game's cover image, it says your father was a "brilliant quantum physicist"). When he finds out that you found out about the machine he aims his gun at you to protect his secrets. That's the moment that you shoot him with that same gun brought from the future, thus becoming the cause of the crime that you have been investigating from the beginning.
Thank you for playing.
Amazing how much art there is in this game. The backgrounds and characters all look incredible. Great work on this!
It's hard to ask this question without spoiling too much, but how is it possible to do the thing at the end if the thing was empty when you first get it?
anyway, loved the story.
Hi! Thank you for playing the game. I'll try to explain it without giving away too much of the story.
But for anyone who hasn't played the game yet: PLEASE STOP READING HERE AND GO PLAY CAUSALITY! It only takes about 5 minutes.

The "thing" you're given at the beginning is unused and fully charged. That's why nobody can solve the mystery. The first time it's ever used is when you decide to use it.
The story is really well done, and I loved the title drop at the end! The 3D art was also amazing. Good job!
Super implementation of the theme. The story is short and sweet and the characters really look nice. With more work it could really slap. Congratz on making it!
Awesome experience, very polished game. Loved the style of hand-drawn characters and simple 3D models, really gives the game an unique charm. 10/10 great job!
Very polished and focused game. Loved the animations and models, the music too! I had a great time playing. Had a couple things I didn't like in terms of writing but other than that it's brilliant
I really love the colors, music and overall aesthetics! Nice work! I wish to be that artistic and not only a code guy :D
Fun little adventure game! The dialogue text and mouse cursor took me back to the old lucasarts days.
The character art really stands out, super designs and well animated. Pacing and length felt decent, didn't feel too quick and didn't outstay its welcome. I enjoyed that the narrative was neatly tied up, but still leaves a lot of things for the player to think about and consider outside of the presented story (can she get back? what happens to the her in this timeline? what about the dad in this timeline? what are the time travel rules in this universe?)
Great entry!
I see our inspirations are crystal clear. Alicia and I are big fans of the Monkey Island games.
We owe those beautifully animated characters to Íñigo Arrieta, our lead artist, who also made the 3D backgrounds.
I think there's two main models of time travel. One of them, which I like to call the "Back to the Future" model, implies that whenever one travels back in time it's possible to change the past, thus altering the present. The other one, which I call the "Doraemon" model, implies that if you travel back in time to prevent something, you will inevitably either fail or end up being the reason why it happens. In our story we use the latter. The fact that a character knows about certain event sets up a domino effect that leads to them causing it, hence the title.
Thank you for playing.
nice plot and good art! I like the hand drawn characters. I wish the dialog lines could be skipped -- I read them and feel impatient while I wait for the game to continue on. Also sometimes I click on things by accident and dont want to go through the dialog again (escape kind of works to cancel). One reliable way to skip would go a long way to improve.
Yeah. We had to make dialogue run on timers to sync the last scene to the music and have taht impact. Escape does work, though it's not intended xD
We'll definetely consider adding a click to skip system for a post jam version (the final cut, as our lead artist calls it)
Thanks a lot for the feedback.
