Oooou, ok ok. Took me a second but I really like this game. After a bit I started giving little personalities to the characters and trying to sus people out. I did lose the first time because i was reading the text lol, but i picked up on it quick. A good deduction style game, very cool.

How does the game fit the theme?
You must observe the NPCs carefully. some may be acting suspiciously. Study their behavior, and decide who deserves to die.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Aside from a few free campsite assets (not the trees) and some sound effects everything else was made from scratch during the jam.
How many people worked on the game?2

I like the concept of the game. I was a bit confused what to do and killed the civilians :D I think the atmosphere in the game sets the tone very well. Nice job :)
Why does the lighting effect seem to be rather weak after I press the E key? How can I find the murderer?
The game has incredible atmosphere and a really cool premise, especially with how quickly the art and sound set the spooky mood.
The atmosphere was really great. I think the idea of the sun and the spamming to keep it bright was a fun idea to keep the game engaging. The only problem was that I wasn't really sure about how to identify killers, it took me a couple of tries to win the game. But I really enjoyed the simple game play. Amazing Job
Visually, it's right up my alley! The visual and audio atmosphere is well done, especially "the day to night" transition, which I think is super well done.
Gameplay-wise, it's simple and effective. Contrary to what some comments say, I don't think spamming the sun to skip the night is an issue, but I would've liked some feedback like the sun growing bigger as you spam ( and maybe light the scene a bit) to give the action more feel. The game also starts a bit abruptly before you even finish reading, which makes things a little hard to understand on your first try.
Good job ! :D
Thanks so much! Really glad the day to night transition landed well :D
Interesting to hear a different take on the spamming mechanic. Adding feedback would've been great. Will definitely take a look at that in the future.
About the abrupt start, you're totally right. We just ran out of time to add a buffer before it.
Honest review:
The atmosphere, sound design, mechanics all work well. But, the game play is not great. The idea is there, but spamming E a random number of times every minute gets really tedious and adds nothing in terms of game play. I'd remove it completely. It's just not enjoyable and ruins the rest of the game play.
I really wasn't sure how to identify killers. The text "Listen for killers in the dark" isn't helpful, as I couldn't hear anything of relevance when examining npcs through the scope.
Thanks for the honest feedback, genuinely helpful.
The spamming E, as others have noted too, wasn't the best design choice. removing it makes sense.
As for the audio clues, we underestimated how hard they can be. Unfortunately due to time constraints we couldn't add any visual clues.
Thanks for playing and for the direct feedback!
The game works, spamming is annoying tho.
I also feel like there should have been some more clues to who the killer might be. I initially thought the changing expression on their faces was the clue, that the face would sometimes flicker and give away their intent, but when person making that face was innocent, I didn't know anymore.. Maybe some other behaviour things would be cool to add: someone picks something up and hides it, someone sharpens a stick into a spear etc - so player would have other clues to go off of when deciding the killers.
Good job overall
Thanks for the detailed feedback! The spamming issue is a known design problem. It needs tuning, or might just get removed entirely.
As for the facial expression flicker, that was meant to be more of a red herring, but making it a real tell might've worked better.
Love the other behavior ideas you mentioned, like picking things up. We might add those post-jam!
It is an interesting idea to pray for the sun!
And it looks so good I like the art style and color choices!
I have no complaints the only issue is I must be blind :/ all those innocent people:))))
I was a little lost on what to shoot at first, but not bad for the given time. I think it has decent vibes.
good concept, but execution can be better! I don't think spamming a key a random amount of times as a response to an event (aka QTE) is a good idea. I'd want to listen/look for signs then turn the lights on immediately to look for the killer; right now I'm kinda stuck between wanting to wait longer to determine the source of the sound, or face away from the source and spam at the sun so it turns on before everyone's dead.
This is in addition to other comments tho. With more polish, tThis could be made into a nice game.
Pretty interesting game. I was killing only civilians, lol. When the lights went out, I thought you just messed up the Game Over, but when I accidentally looked at the sun – I saw what needed to be done. The sounds are cool, by the way, and I like the shooting mechanics.
Really cool concept. In my 3rd run instead of playing normally I just started blasting killed 3 civilians , the 3 killers and won xD.
I was lost at first, the mechanic of praying wasn't really obvious to me. The game has potential and I'd like to play it again in the future if some improvements are made to it. Great job!
I can see the vision, although it would be nice if there's more visual representation on who are the killers. Good game though!
at first i was confused as i had no idea how to find and kill the killers, but i found out from one of the screenshots that u can pray to the sun to get sunlight to see again without the fog (please make that more clearer). anyway, i like how u need to shoot the killers among the civils (but i wish that the bullets were way more faster since my aim is buns). anyway, i really like the visuals that foreshadow something will happen in the camp, and i really enjoyed the gameplay but i personally think it needs some changes.
TYSM for the detailed feedback! I completely agree the sun praying mechanic wasn't clear enough. I'll update the Itch page since that's all I can do for now :). I have also noted the speed of the bullets and we'll try to find the perfect speed in the future if we keep building this. Really glad the camp atmosphere came through! Thanks for playing!
I liked the concept, but I felt there wasn't enough visual evidence to show who the killer was. Once the fog rolled in, they would always kill everyone, and I'd lose without being able to do anything about it.
