How does the game fit the theme?
Trust no one... thing. It's a rage game where no thing can be trusted.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
I did all the coding. The assets were mostly by Kay Lousberg and Kevin MacLeod. See the game page for full details.

Great concept, I really liked it. Some things started out closed, like the trunk lid, which should start open. I liked it, good work!

Lowkey reminds me of cat mario, I think you did the troll part of the game well because as long as you're cautious you don't die (too) unfairly. Can't say I wasn't already getting baited at floor 2 though. Good game, man.

Playing while dying, truly achieving the feat of looking back three times for each step taken. It's just too crazy. I like this kind of prank.

Found a few bugs:
Prank chest in the first level can be juked to stay open (not sure if intentional but the animation appears to break)
Some pillars/rubble/barrels have no collision
First door trap in the second level doesn't reliably kill you
Falling door trap in level 2 doesn't reliably kill
Falling objects can sometimes kill *after* landing
Falling objects sometimes play their SFX multiple times
Volume setting resets on death
Shield... completely breaks rendering?  Not sure if this is intentional

Couldn't get past the invisible bridge

Finally!! Got to level 3 after 61 deaths.
Really like this game! Trying to remember the traps was fun. they were chosen really well.

Personally not a fan of not being able to touch already fallen objects, but that's more taste than critique.
Out of curiosity, what was the point of the shield? Was that also part of the rage mechanic?

Other than that, great job!

Developer

If you tell me your time, I can post it on the game page.

The shield was another thing you couldn't trust.  It also adds a little variety and mechanics that slow gamers can be especially enraging to those attempting high scores.

Didn't finish level 3, but here's my time for reaching it :D

Developer

Oh, you were so, so close...

Submitted(+1)

I could not get past Level 2 :( any hint?

Developer

Try baiting out the traps.  Get close to them and move away at the right time.  Timing is key.  If you're stuck on the glass tiles, read the hint on the game page.

I don't get it. is it just door falls on you? I never made it past either door.

Developer

It's a rage game.  It's meant to be challenging and tough.  You have to bait the traps out.  Try moving towards the door and quickly run away.  Time it right and you can beat the traps.

I believe in you!!

My rage has been numbed a long time ago, this feels like a pattern game to me instead haha. enjoyable and fun

I have made a rage unfair platformer but this is actually cool even if some assets were not made by you! I like the visuals and the rage baiting in the game!! I will post my score once I get back home for playing again.

Submitted(+1)

not a shabby rage bait. I’m still not sure I understand the shield (just makes you blind for a few seconds?) but it was satisfying learning to navigate the patterns

Did not enjoy but well done

I died 54 times before finally finishing the game. I think you should try our game!

Never played many rage games before, but my instinct has always been: if I can reproduce the traps consistently, then it’s fair. Which I feel this game has done well of. It was surprisingly fun; the level lengths were just right that it saves my progress before it starts becoming an annoyance to repeat all the known traps, but not short enough to spark some anger inside me. Great game!

5:41 with 5 deaths (I've played Trees Hate You lol) Loved it. Really fun interpretation of the theme. Good entry!

Fun rage game, had a good couple laughs, i was timing when to  pick up the book like an idiot until i realised the spikes just go down when you step on them, really really nice, good job!

Gameplay felt clean and pretty responsive! Great job especially by yourself

Great game, I really enjoyed it. I have some feedback to make:

  • I feel like the spikes under the spellbooks are unnecessary, as they have no real effect, except making the player take a bit longer before walking on them.
  • After the platform falls in the bridge, there's no indication of when the  path is safe to cross again, so I felt stuck even if I wasn't.
  • The room with the second spellbook in the second level has no visual indication of which spikes are safe to cross, so it's just a matter of trying over and over which is pretty boring in my opinion.
