Description
This OST leans towards ambient-trance. I envisioned a short visual novel to accompany the soundtrack, to which each track represents different areas/points of my characters' journey back home. This was all composed in FL Studio, and the art was drawn in Clip Studio Paint.

This was my very first ambient-trance album and I'm quite happy with how it turned out despite the time constraint!

I remember around 2 years ago, I joined my first ever composing Jam. Was feeling very excited and inspired by all the amazing music that came out of it, and Carrot's music was no exception. Back then and now, your music remains exceptional to my ears. Imagine my surprise, after being burnt out on music due to majoring in it in university, finally getting on my feet, joined the composing jam again, and saw that the same artist who inspired me also joined again. Now imagine my surprise again, when the same artist who inspired me, who made orchestral sort of oriental music last time i joined, suddenly made ambiance-trance electronic music for the first time ever and that it sounds flawless to my 4 years of music univ ears. Genuinely, I cannot begin to fathom the amount of hard work and effort you've put in into learning art. You've genuinely inspired me to learn to draw, to learn to love music again, and to just, appreciate art. Maybe I'm biased towards the person who inspired me to push through univ, but I genuinely wish you win this one!!! I wish you the best of luck on this jam and life in general :D

Wow, I’m mind-blown!!! There are so many things to love about this track, it’s so varied and visceral, but strangely comfortable and smooth to listen to. I really love the way you use sound textures, the way you vary the rhythm, panning, and timbre so seamlessly and just at the right times is absolutely fantastic, I learned a lot from listening to this. Awesome job and thanks so much for sharing!
This is a delightful work, the variation in types of sounds and your ability to keep coherent flow amidst all of it was a treat to listen to.
What an eclectic soundtrack, the diversity of sounds featured was impressive. Electronic and acoustic instruments, noise, distortion, glitches all wrapped up into one journey. Each of the tracks have quite a clear musical blueprint and contrasts extremely well with the previous track, it felt like an expertly crafted album with excellent tension and release. CONTAMINATION was the standout track to me, the chopped up dissonant samples coupled with the pulsing beat gave it a sinister drive. Probably the most technically advanced production that I've listened to in this jam and very musically executed. Bravo.
I liked this soundtrack a whole lot. I was unfamiliar with the genre before listening to it, but I think I fell in love... The thing I loved the most about it was your flexibility when it comes to the sound palette you chose: Calm tracks and more energetic ones feel like they're coming from the same place despite also being extremely different, I'm not really sure how to explain it... And of course, making each track lead into the next in a satisfying way was pretty impressive, considering the time limitations. The one I liked most was the transition between the last 2 tracks: The way the "Beep" (which was a bit reminiscent of a heart monitor, girl coma theory???) started on the CHARLOTTE before continuing in COMMEMORATION was astounding, honestly, despite the simplicity of it.
The few and far between orchestral parts throughout the song were pretty reminiscent of your submission from last year, in a good way. They gave the soundtrack a lot of heart, and didn't overstay their welcome.
Convalescence had a solo violin part near the end that sounded really good: It's played really fast, almost unrealistically and I loved that a lot.
Contamination has some very impressive sampling. Even if we ignore the main choir part, the microsounds throughout the track and the heavily distorted amen break near the end were highlights for me. Makes it feel light we're dealing with something beyond our comprehension.
Consolation's orchestral part near the end before the assumed climax in Charlotte was done very well. I enjoyed the story left purposefully vague beyond the initial synopsis as it leaves much to the imagination for how the events transcribed. (i really really wanna know tho)
Charlotte was probably my favourite, really dramatic and heavy and a banger for sure. It's honestly in my top 5 for all the songs I've listened to during this jam. I liked how it sounded similar to Catastrophe with those big, grandiose chords, and how it mellowed out near the end. It kind of had a similar feel to Circumstellar, thinking about it. It appropriately felt like a huge moment in both the world and between the characters, I'm really curious what you had in mind when you made it.
I already pointed out the Beeps in Commemoration, but the piano part was also beautifully played, tugs at the heartstrings.
Unrelated to the soundtrack itself, but the art you made for it is really cool, the eyeball-looking thing in the distance is really ominous and the whole thing's rendered really well, hats off.
I honestly don't have any complaints or grievances about this soundtrack (i don't like looking like I'm just showering a submission in meaningless compliments lol), it captivated me from start to finish and you're obviously confident in your abilities compositionally and technically. Wouldn't be surprised if this won, 5s across the board from me. Awesome fucking job.

I had so much fun reading through your interpretation 🥹🙏🙏 i actually have a pretty decently solid story for this ost but decided to keep it vague as i always want my ost jams to have open interpretations! Though if you're interested i can definitely try to summarize what i had outlined HAHAH
What i had in mind was actually pretty simple: girl wakes up with mild amnesia in a strange, almost dangerous world where her only key to escaping is a fantastical creature who out of presumable kindness of its heart offered her a ride home with one condition being an object she will have to relent at the end of the journey. The journey itself started off smooth sailing with the dragon soaring through the broken sky, which we get to witness the strange wonders of this seemingly abandoned world. We get inevitable tumult and dangers, with a major roadblock being conveyed in "CONTAMINATION" to which such a crisis somehow triggered a few memories in the girl. She would eventually be carried to safety and the two wanderers would face their final obstacle (the eye looming in the background of the art cover!) and here I imagined them to have come out victorious. The dragon lets her off on a platform carrying the aforementioned door to her home. Before she could ask about the object, the dragon would inform her that it has already managed to obtain it and that she should go towards the door before it closes. As she steps into this bright light glowing out of the doorframe, she could've sworn she heard somebody saying her name... (and that would be Charlotte LOL)
As you could probably tell, the beeps throughout the latter 3 tracks were indeed intended to be a heart monitor! Charlotte wakes in a hospital bed, her consciousness quickly alerts the nurses around her. There's a strange sense of tranquility resting in her chest, and the bandages covering her appendages seemed more like an accessory than its intended purpose. Her dad would eventually regretfully tell her that her sister had succumbed to her injuries. They were both on their way back from school with Charlotte's sister driving when a drunk driver had crashed into them mid intersection, straight into the driver's side. Rose unfortunately died on impact, leaving her little sister in a coma. Charlotte understandably became very distraught and they both grieved, though the memories of the adventure seemingly has fizzled from her mind the moment she had awoken. And that's pretty much what i had in mind!!!
I also had in mind a few instruments of note throughout the ost, which would be the violin and the piano! The violin was meant to represent the dragon, while the piano Charlotte. The violin would have these very virtuosic and elegant lines to denote a dragon flying freely and without constraints. The piano is soft in quality, at times loud and intense to represent Charlotte's will to continue living to see the adventure through. It is also the only remaining instrument to the very end, as she ultimately made it out of said godforsaken world. For "CONTAMINATION" specifically, i was envisioning some sort of moment where Charlotte in reality was suffering through a particularly life threatening infection that eventually stabilized. Whether the dragon saving Charlotte contributed to her stabilization or not is up to the listener LOL
Soooo yeah that's what i had in mind pretty much, and you were spot on with girl coma theory LOL 😂😂😂 i'm so sorry if some things aren't as coherent/elegantly put since i admittedly didn't think toooo deep into the story itself, but the general idea itself gave me enough motivation to make the ost anyway! And as always i still really enjoy going through other people's interpretations as well! If you've read until the very end thank you so much!!!!! Admittedly i felt kinda silly typing all this but nevertheless i hope u liked my little story for this ost 🥹🙏
This certainly puts thing into perspective, the dragon telling Charlotte that it already had what it wanted from her at the end is genuinely a really fucking cool idea!!!! Great story overall, better than what I had in mind at least, and you explaining your process and ideas that you tried conveying through the music was pretty great too (The dragon being the violin really improved Convalescence a lot for me). Even if, at the end of the day, open interpretation IS usually the better way to go about it.... BUT I DON'T CARE! I WANT LORE!! SO THANKS!!

CATASTROPHE: wow. This sounds crazy. Love the sound design.
CIRCUMSTELLAR: some really solid edm. I really like that bass.
CONVALESCENCE: the chord hits are so good. And wow that lead was so sweet and expressive.
CONTAMINATION: this is my favorite. I love the glitchy sound. The glitchy vocals in particular are a highlight.
CONSOLATION: some really cool touches here like the tambourine. That string melody is so sweet.
CHARLOTTE: This is epic. I love the way you work the instruments into an EDM style.
COMMEMORATION: I like this piano tone a lot. The use of the major tonic chord (or V/ii depending how you look at it lol) was very pleasant.

It’s really great. Even if I’m not a fan of this genre, it was a pleasure to listen to. At one point, I didn’t even notice that the transitions between some of the tracks were very smooth.
Really fun listen, had to crank the volume so I got really bop along with it! I just liked it more and more as I listened along, storytelling is very good. This soundtrack would without a doubt elevate a game beyond just complementing it, and that is the hallmark of a great soundtrack :) Fantastic job!
That was very pleasant to listen to, really great edm overall. Maybe a little far of the theme ? But not this much, I understand the idea reading the lore. Very original take and well executed.
Yeah, you went insane with this one. Circumstellar was fucking insane. Your percussion on all these and use of panning tickle my ear in all the right ways. You also know how to make "moments" in all of these that make for some truly unforgettable music. This is the first project I've listened to for this jam and also the first full 5 stars I'm giving out lol. Good shit Carrot!
Amazing soundtrack, what an experience !
The instrumentation and arrangements are top-notch, and the video on Youtube with the tracks all flowing into each other is exquisite and very pleasant to listen to.
The different tracks were very very solid throughout.
If I had to pick favourites it would be Catastrophe leading into Circumstellar (love both tracks and the transition between them that gains a lot of energy when arriving to the second track), Contamination (great eery vibe) and Charlotte (very energic and carries a lot of emotions when arriving near the end of the album).

Catastrophe: This wall of synths is insane--made me CRANK up my volume and immerse myself in a sound bath. I love the way it just keeps blossoming outward.
Circumstellar: OH?? So we're at the club now??? Is this a video game soundtrack or a set for a rave? This genuinely made me start dancing in my chair. I love how you blend the choir/chimes into a techno space, connecting it to the ethereal soundworld a lot of us (me especially) have tapped into for this theme.
Convalescence: So delicate while still preserving intensity. I love the bubbling synths coupled with the long, sustained piano. That violin part was clever.
Contamination: if this comes on at the gay bar, I'm shaking ass. Unbelievable work with the manipulation of that choral sample--that thing sounds alive!!! And that unexpected switch to an orchestral vibe was really smart. This track feels the most adventurous, with lots of dramatic shifts and intensity.
Consolation: Loving the distant bells and swarming chimes here, but what's nice is that no matter what the mood is from track to track, there's always a bit of grit surrounding the mix--or it isn't gone for long. When that does finally change in this track, and we have a plain piano, moments before the final track plunges us back in, it's extremely effective, like we've finally arrived at a moment of peace--just to lose it.
Charlotte: Aaaaand we're back to shakin' ass in the club. This is just epic. A part of me wishes I knew more about what was happening story-wise during each section of the song.
Commemoration: Maybe you've told us all we need to know with the bleeping monitor sound... she made it home, but at what cost? Maybe leaving things up to interpretation is just as special.
Well it goes without saying--you've done a magnificent job here, and I hope you're proud. This is stellar for just one week of work! Great work, and keep writing!

Wow, what a journey! I wasn't expecting this when I started listening to the soundtrack, and it was one surprise after another; a musical journey that kept on renewing itself right up until the end. Well done!

Damn this is cool. Makes me feel like I'm playing some really cool Zelda clone like Hyperlight Drifter. COMMEMORATION is my favorite track tho because it's make me feels like im in the save point.
Convalescence melody line with those violins goes craaaazy. Contamination is nasty in the best way. At worlds end is epic and fantastic. Well mixed throughout. This is not typically my genre but I enjoyed it!
