Description
--- PROJECT DESCRIPTION ---
In the midst of the 70s, touring magician Kasandra Klaidi struggles to gather an audience, as her stage fright and general lack of showmanship overshadows her otherwise impressive knowledge of the illusionary arts. One night, returning home after a particularly disastrous show, she finds and picks up an odd leaf with peculiar spirals outside her motel room, thinking she could use it as a prop.
Unbeknownst to her, this leaf is actually a highly sought remanent of an ancient world, that lets whoever interacts with it channel their soul and will in mystical, unbelievable ways... She finds out pretty quickly, however, after getting attacked by cultists in green robes during one of her spectacles!
With her props gaining otherwordly properties, she somehow fends them off, and it proves to be a huge success with the public!
Out of options (and cash), and with the help of runaway cultist, she settles on a plan: Get public acclaim by fending off her attackers during shows, and (in exchange for assisting you during your violent endeavors) help the runaway seal remnants of the old world, so they can save their own.

GENRES: I decided to go for 70s progressive rock as my primary genre and inspiration. While I would've gone with something more medieval-inspired had the jam been set like weeks prior (especially when looking at the themes), by the time it started I was already into a very long medieval phase and I kinda wanted a break from it... Plus, prog rock is a very good genre for fantasy-like tracks anyway, so it's a win win! Other genres include orchestras for a more movie like quality, and some punk and jazz here and there. Prog Rock is one of my favourite genres ever so it was fun to work with in this album.

I must warn you, it's *very* wordy, and the soundtrack's very long anyway, so I wouldn't blame if you skimmed through or even ignored it. If you wish to leave a comment, you don't have to do the thing I tend to do where I leave a small description about how you felt with every track, or you might be here all day! You can still do it if you want to, I'd highly appreciate it, but I will completely understand if you don't.
It took me quiet a while to come up with the story this time around, it's bit less simplistic than what I did last time with Sinclair (my project from last year) so I hope you won't mind my poor storytelling *too* much.
DAW: I used cubase 5, my daw of choice ever since I started composing like 6 years ago (i do not recommend). Used mostly freeware instruments as well, the only paid one I have is Xpand!2, which I got for free a while ago from a promotion. I was heavily carried by SINE orchestral instruments and some nifty kontakt stuff this time around, as well as the magical 1970s drums by labs.
PROCESS: put each note individually with my mouse like some kind of musical pervert until it sounds good
Kidding, it's just that I saw someone describe it like that on twitter once and I thought it was funny, you're not a "musical pervert" if you do that, I don't make an enemy out of the tracker community...
I tend to get sound ideas more when I'm walking outide, doing anything other than using my computer. I also often get heavily inspired by songs I listen to at the time

Theme
How does it fit the theme?
The game's dungeons feature tracks that are meant to emulate folk songs from a very distant time... However, they've been remixed to correspond more to those who dwell in them. As such, it's almost impossible to know what the original could've sounded like... Songs of forgotten world. (also prog rock is like fantasy-ish and i kinda got that vibe from the theme)
