So many wilderness imprints left... and I wasn't even optimal with cleaning up Bestiary...

"Some of the writing works perfectly well on its own but becomes noticeably repetitive when you read enough of it together, so that has meant going back through a fairly large amount of existing content."

This mostly seems to be case for guild reports beyond Outer layer, and Wilderness imprint for Dual Wilderness, where a bunch of the narration falls into, for lack of a better word, "fill in the blanks" kind of repetition.

For example, there's a few of "You recover fragments of a cultivator's implement from [place X], each piece polished differently by a route that [does Y thing]. The surviving geometry shows that [elements 1 and 2] [do their characteristic thing]. You cannot restore the implement and do not try."

...Now obviously, there's hundreds upon hundreds of these, so it's a lot of text to review, and if you just play Act 1 normally, you won't really have enough to compare against.

There's also stuff like "Two enormous beasts meet beyond a ridge. You cannot survive either of them. So you watch."

If it rolls early on when you're still only in Outer layer (since imprints are shared between the 3 depths unlike enemies), then it makes sense, cause you're still pretty weak. But if you get this while cleaning up before Act 2, then it does become kinda funny given All-Ten Confluence has the "ultra-apex" of each element and basically you're kinda powerful compared to most of the Mortal Realm.

Oh huh, it seems like the elemental checks were one of the choke points, because the speedup's working a good bit faster now for me.

Since I am cleaning up the bestiary, I just realized there's a confusing line when you go to Outer Dual wilderness from the main screen.

"A known dual pressure does not resolve into a substitute element. The search either reaches that paired wilderness or ends with the life."

I don't remember ever having anything but success on the dual wilderness search, so idk what the "ends with the life" part is supposed mean. Might have forgotten something from earlier parts of the game, though, so take this with a pinch of salt.

I just realized that the "Hunt difficulty" in Wilderness Travel doesn't seem to do anything...? Out of habit I click the options after ending up in the new wilderness, but regardless of what you have set for hunt difficulty, you arrive at new wilderness with "No action selected".

Also, Wilderness filter in record doesn't hide Bond Beast even when you have rank 100 in every single-element form and deep balance in all 45 dual-element forms.

I remember there being a comment (or was it an update post) where the dev said that the game only rolls for technique on imprints 4-18 and 20

hitting 100 gives multipliers to health, body, power and Qi, but they're pretty finy

you have two streams, 1 2 3 4 5, A B C D E

they are sorted into 1 A 2 B 3 C 4 D 5 E order

You can use the Imperial Core option for Wilderness as that lets you go, but if you misclick or choose a different point, you are in fact stuck in city.

Source: I did this once and had to basically immediately end that incarnation.

(1 edit)

Inner Mono Wildernesses at the very least seem to use a somewhat different template, so if you updated something somewhere else, they might have fallen through.

For example, they're the only ones that list their enemies on the main page. They're also in a different elemental order in the Bestiary compared to Outer and Deep Mono.

...Also can't imagine how much text there is to go through on the dev side at this point. It's just something I've noticed since I was going through multiple of the guild report flavor text each day.

(1 edit)

I got done with all the guild reports a while ago and it's funny how some of them have specific descriptions of you helping the surveyors find the thing, and then a bunch of them are just like "yeah no you missed this landmark", "might be this way but I can't be 100% sure" "those maps are way too big bro, you're just gonna go nowhere"

...Also am I going crazy or do the enemies show up slightly less in the Inner Mono Wildernesses??? I swear the number of defeated monsters grows slower there than anywhere else.

oh good, I am not going crazy

You can observe the inheritance in Explore tab

Tide outcome is mostly related to how much Qi you have

From my experience, it takes roughly 800 years to get 10k on a monster, since it's divided among three.

i got to 10k on all 6 monsters in like 90 wildernesses right now and I am still not even one third way done with the wilderness imprints

unless you don't have that many imprints left I think you could clean up bestiary and still be missing them

"You can't find your way to Returning Cave" erroneously displays each time you exit the minimal interface if you have clicked Cave in Wilderness that incarnation.

Also, something's eating the game after the update.

I could get like 1600-ish in Wilderness before last update, but now it struggles to get above 500x. Sometimes it just crashes back to double digit values. If I had absolutely nothing else open but the game, it only would rise to roughly 800x.Tried refreshing the game or restarting the browser, but it didn't work. Minimal interface doesn't really increase speed either, even though it did kinda stabilize speed before if it suddenly went down. Hell, if its display is anything to by, I think the game crashes to like 10-50x when the tab isn't active.

Other speeds to note:

- If I am doing nothing in the Imperial City it hovers around like 1000-1300x but if I do anything it goes to like 500-800x (even Hall of Zenith where last time I checked it was running faster than everywhere else in the game for no reason)

- The Wilderness travel screen seems to hover at 900-1100x because why not (at least there isn't much to do there).

- Willowbrook is at 400-500x??? why is it the lowest in the starting area???

- Harmonized Settlement is like 500-600x

- Dual-element and paragon settlements are like 1000-1300 if I do nothing but 600-800 if I am doing something.

- The Wilderness Margin is around 800-900x

For reference I have been doing nothing but grinding bestiary numbers, finding wilderness imprints and giving field reports to Guild for the past dozens of incarnations before the update.

did you manage to get out of willowbrook

you should be able to with the headstart you get for getting 10 talismans

I just noticed, but if you refresh the game once your current incarnation dies from old age, the game will put your current occupation as "Work the Dirt", aka the very first job in the game. Regardless of where you are.

It's purely visual but it's still funny.

Do you have the completionist filter on? It seems to hide the entries after 25k kills (even though all Wilderness except the last one show all information after 10k)

The initial versions did give an increase to imprint chance when you were in the Inner Wilderness, but that ran into the issue of only triggering at the start of the Wilderness life, so it was a one chance (whereas now you can get multiple imprints; once I was lucky and got three) and the bonus was irrelevant for Inner Dual, since you couldn't enter them directly.

the funniest thing is that at one point I realized that the answers are always presented in the correct order (except for the one where it's just two elements) so you just need to find the starting point and then click the next two answers after that one

100k is when the bestiary entry for Ten-All enemy is completed so I guess.

"all wilderness apex relics, techniques, imprints"

I got all the apex relics and I am currently doing the Guild reports, but techniques and imprints feels like a very long grind.

1. Spend 10 years with the given dual form in the matching Inner Dual wilderness

2. Do the 200-year study in Hall of Zenith unlocked after beating the apex in the matching Deep Dual wilderness.

This place still erroneously lists a value despite there being nothing left to gain.

Now this one is completely on me, as I missed that Chronicle log says this.

Also I am not 100% sure how the "hide completed" works for bestiaries? I have wildernesses with 10k defeats on all 6 monsters and apex relic obtained, but the only ones it hides are the Settled Roads and All-Ten Wilderness (100k on every monster hahaha). Does it only filter it out if you did that for all the locations in that section (which for Dual Wilderness is 45)???

Edit: Okay it does filter out some specific entries but it seems to be higher than 10k, even though for most Wilderness entries that's when it's going to say "No carried equipment or ordinary item drops are recorded from this creature."

Edit 2: It seems like it's set for 25k, which would be correct for Settled Roads, but not for the wilderness.

Heed Tea Master's advice. It should be kinda obvious what to do from there.

...Getting enough Qi without doing that first is uh, a long-ass grind.

Hello, I am still doing Act 1 cleanup, and have things to report.

The Core grounds and Palace Qi wells say "0 / year" and "0 condensed Qi / year" after you refine Zenith to max, even though Inner Imperial City grounds properly say "Condensation is currently dormant."

Changing actions in the Inner Mono Wilderness does not have relevant text show up in Chronicle log, so I thought the battle buttons were bugged, since they have the same action name.

Not sure if intentional or not, but all wilderness discoveries use the entire body text for the milestone summary, except for "You have absorbed the imprint left by this place. You will never see it again." This is not as problematic as it was with the Paragon Arm scenes, since those are just like 2 small windows worth of text, but I am just mentioning for reference.

For some reason, in the Records it says "7 / 0 Annals phases" for the Zenith multi-life research.

The remaining things I have noticed all fall under 'narration/descriptors not accounting for future growth' category:

- "The outer dual wildernesses carry denser Qi suited to the Refined Core band and stronger permanent discoveries than the outer mono regions. Deeper wilderness exists beyond both, but is not yet survivable." from the Beyond the Maintained Roads page does not change, which is funny once you can access it from Imperial Core, cause at that point you're strong enough for Deep Wilderness. Similarly, the button in Harmonized Settlement never stops saying "Search the outer mono-element wilderness for cultivation, combat, affinity, and rare permanent imprints." even once you unlock later parts.

- The mini text for Imperial Core entrance still says "Your Heaven-Bearing Core qualifies for the inward registry." after you become Zenith, and the Chronicle log when this is clicked similarly says "Your Heaven-Bearing Core is entered into the inward registry and the Imperial Core opens beyond the Inner City."

- The way to access Inner Mono wilderness at Paragon Arms city has the mini-text "Living Core can now survive the deeper mono-element country beyond the managed frontier." Probably should say something like "Living Core or higher can survive"

- If you use the direct buttons to Outer-Dual settlements, the message for travelling is "You follow places where [element 1] + [element 2] pressure crosses without becoming one current. Tenfold Weave is the only reason the route remains cultivable." Even when you're far past Tenfold Weave.

Also, a suggestion: In Wilderness clicking Cave silently fails, but it might be worth having the game actually say "You are unable to find way back to the cave from the wilderness."

Since going to Emperor is a plot tunnel without a way back for now, I decided to basically grind out other things.

"the middle kingdom still matters" it says; turns out when you're High Zenith, you can master two dual-town jobs per incarnation... and that's WHEN you're starting the grind, because then catch-up XP bonus becomes more and more relevant, and eventually you can do 3, and then 4... When I had less than 10 left, I could probably just barely fit in a fifth one too, but decided to spend remaining years on wilderness instead.

Doing this, I discovered that some of the dual-town events seem to have part of their body text as title, so you get things like this.

The recent update did increase my speed ceiling to around 1600x in Wilderness and 2400x in some other places. The setup is way too old to ever push 5000x (except maybe whenever I was grinding the beast studies in Hall of Zenith; it was somehow peaking around 3600x there???), but hey, it's something! The minimal UI mode also helps when something's suddenly choking the speed, although it seems to have issues at times maintaining the speed if the game isn't in focus (i.e. its window isn't visible)

As a suggestion, once you are ready for the point of no return in Act 1, perhaps give the player ability to start in the Imperial City to reduce amount of clicks for the clean-ups?

(1 edit)

For reference on Core 3 back when I was at that part of the gamel personally I was hitting roughly mid 200s Qi with what I had at the point of getting all 10 paragon relics, and was forced to spend several incarnations defaulting to cultivating in Harmonized Settlement, as it gives affinity to everything, so it could auto the harmony bands to give more starting Qi (on top of the Affinity bonuses) so that I could actually get to 370

Not sure about the person who reported this balance issue, they don't seem to mention any specific numbers but I did feel like "wait, did I miss something to push Qi faster?"

I am aware you get it at 1000 years, the joke is "the game runs above 1000x?"

You guys get to 5000x speed?

Take your time man; the game isn't a hare, it ain't running away anywhere

(1 edit)

oh boy time to crashtest the new update and leave no one alive:

- Since the outer mono-element settlements are once again accessible, it might be worth putting a warning because I was like "oh what's this" and then basically got locked out of progressing into later cities in that incarnation, cause they don't have "embark on a caravan towards this city" or "go to wilderness" buttons and you can only choose one in a given incarnation.

- "These grounds exist because Heaven-Bearing Core requires quantities of Qi the outer wilderness cannot supply on a useful timescale." not sure if a mistake, since at this point you have access to Deep Mono wilderness (and then Deep Dual once you do become Core 8)

- Speaking of which, Deep Dual wilderness has the "this is Outer Dual wilderness, stronger than Mono wilderness but still just first depth" text, and its enemies are classified as Outer Dual on their bestiary entry (but NOT the bestiary list itself).

- The people encounters for Inner City records are mixed up, in sense that the initial encounter and later encounter are not always stored next to each other (at first I thought they were missing but no, they're just separated).

- Actions in the Imperial Core show up as "Unknown action". Oh yeah also Willowbrook somehow managed to re-invent the Instant Transmission market, this time into the Imperial Core. Guys I think Tea Master is pranking us across time and space.

- The shop sections in Market District for Integrated Core and higher don't have the introductory(?) paragraph. Heaven-Bearing items also don't have description.

- All the exact routes to Inner and Deep wilderness got wiped. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

- Choosing Archives at Imperial Core kinda becomes pointless once you complete all logs, cause that's how you earn money there.

- Imperial Core longevity methods are missing from records.

- All-Ten Wilderness seems to be broken, as whatever I click on doesn't change my pursuit from "Crossing the Wilderness" and only meaningful action I can take there is moving to another one after 10 years.

The exact route droplist sorts by first the wilderness depth/type, and then alphabetically by their name, which is weird, since the records, bestiary, and the same page sort wilderness by their elements??? Speaking of which, the "exact route" mechanic seems redundant for Outer Mono/Dual, since you access them normally from that screen anyway.

Anyway, I have finally figured out a quirk that has been bothering me for a long while. So there's a bunch of text that's hidden on certain pages by default (like in the cave) and you have to click to open it. But it kept closing immediately for no reason. Turns out, it does that if the game is not paused, which I don't think is intended??? Speaking of which, as someone else pointed out, Records don't allow you to revisit the Inner Imperial City events unlike with the Outer Imperial City, and they don't show up in Milestones.

There's enough cultivation implements now that that section of inventory is getting a bit crowded. Obviously you don't need to manage them unlike equipment since they're passives, but it might be worth sorting them by the Core level for which they're designed. Oh yeah also the Paragon Arms' cave relics are just sorted under "Other" instead of "Cave Relics"

PS. I just realized that I am being paid to read all these centuries-long research logs in the Great Archive. Nice.

I do agree that some of the things in Explore tab should probably be moved to Life and Shop tabs. Obviously there's all the flavor text that does not fit in either tab, and actions that move you between various places should stay there (it is an exploration tab after all) but some things could probably be moved there, lik

"The shops you know are elsewhere. Return to a settled market before buying from them." bro I am in Market District, did the character suddenly develop selective amnesia?

or how all the actions that are you just basically hanging out in the towns to see the various events are there, when they probably fit better on Life tab under the amptly named Daily Life section

Apex Relics are just rare random drops (with a mercy mechanic). If you get lucky, you can get more than one in a single incarnation by switching wilderness.

imagine not being me and burning your lottery ticket on going through 12 incarnations into wilderness back to back and getting 9 relics (and four were dry so one was a double)

I mean I guess when you can spend 6 centuries hunting in one place, you're approaching "somewhat likely" in one life

Sometimes I wonder how the random events in Outer Imperial City work.

I have found only 2 people in Passage District, and the only one that I have seen again is the one that always shows up. But in Growth District I have 6, and I have seen 3 of them again.

o shit I see it now, thanks

I still don't quite understand how exactly "Two currents advance in parallel through alternating positions." works.
The elements come in pairs; current will move from one half to the other half either diagonally or in a straight line.... or if on edge, it can warp around to the other edge. Feels like I have to guess sometimes how this specifically moves as there are multiple possible pairs from available answers. On Core 4 formation I burned my mistake allowance on that type; thanks I guess, Heaven. If someone can enlighten me (pun intended) on how this actually works, it'd be nice.

The implements you buy in Imperial City do not state their effects in inventory, which is less relevant than for equipment since they're passive effects, but still. ...Cinderpulse Meridian Nail from the Fire Outer settlement somehow got caught up in this, it's the only one out of the ten Outer settlement possessions that doesn't state its effect.

...Oh yeah also the World part of Records is getting stretched thin since it now houses the Imperial City events with all the dual town, wilderness and other things that come in masses, might warrant a sub-tab or something lol

It's a bit confusing, but the auto-beast sorts by your elemental affinities, not the Beast's form's ranks.

One use case for it so far is grinding starting Qi for Core 3, as doing it manually will probably drive you insane, since it requires getting Affinities into two digit numbers
