How does the game fit the theme?
The little blotches you hire to help you finish your painting sometimes turn on you. It could be any one of them. It could be all of them. I wouldn't trust any of them, honestly.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?

That was a lot of fun, I really appreciate how satisfying everything felt, from collecting all the paint to squishing rogues to just watching buildings get painted. I'm really impressed that this was done as a team of 1 in a week, fantastic job!!!

Cute little clicker! It was hard reading what the guide was saying, but the game is pretty intuitive, good job!

This is the best way to paint a town i suppose! Calm, warm and captivating game! Well done! Rated 5/5.

And this is our Wolf3D-like narrative game made for this jam if you want to check it out :)

Really liked the game, it's cozy and cute, and yet has a twist! Great idea and great realisation, well done! I won by accident, lol.

Excellent work, very addicting, gobbled it up start to finish.

The biggest criticism I can levy against this game is in its UI. I feel that some information is hidden that should be shown always, and the guide's textboxes always felt underemphasized, going away too quickly, blending in with the background, moving too much, etc. A bit tough to parse when that's your main tutorial. Maybe it could have used a bit more feedback, like clearer animation + some sound?

Other than that though, this is pretty much a perfect jam entry. Great aesthetic, fun gameplay, unique take on the theme. Music was relaxing and sound effects were satisfying. Great work.

Game design is very well and it makes a good clicker game.

This is a really clean and well executed clicker game. Very innovative.

What an awesome game. Love the theme combined with incremental! Really incredible work here.

One small thing, because the workers went rouge they where slowing me down more then helping, so I got rid of all of them and the game become more fun this way. Just as feedback.

Very well done!

Peak game. Very chill. Wanted to destroy the guide halfway through because its repetitive tips covered half of the screen lmao.

Absolutely stunning! While some things annoyed me, they seem to be the way they are by design, and it's fine. I love how joyful, careless, colorful and creative this is! A cute bunch of rascals! The idea of rogue workers was the first one I considered for this jam, too, but I didn't manage to follow through - love what you did with it :) The game also reminds me of Cube and Star in some ways. 5/5, hats off!

One of my favorites this jam! Super fun and visually unique. Thankfully I caught on quickly haha.

Very fun game and satisfying to play. I didn't really have time to read and understand what the guide was saying at first. Especially as they were moving around. But even if I couldn't follow the story, I got a hold of how the painting worked and enjoyed working/making progression. Good job!

It is an awesome game and also the visuals and the chill music are awesome :)

Really neat idea and interesting concept! I did find it a little hard to click on the rogues if they went behind a building, and the Guide talked too much haha.

Thanks for the feedback! I do have some fixes in the works for both of those, when the jam ends. Hopefully it'll address them. It'll definitely shut the guide up a bit if a player wants.

Absolutely amazing! However i felt it was a little long for a jam, Great job though!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. Incrementals tend to be simpler but need more time to pan out, so I get it. Glad you enjoyed it though!

It's a really well made game.

The progression is really smooth without the need of long grind, and all the abilities work quite well.

Visually the game is really pretty. How do you implement the "ink stain" effect?

my only complain was about the dialogue boxes of the guide and the notes. They worked inconsistently.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I've got a fix waiting on the jam to finish that should address the dialog boxes. Just have to wait forever to be allowed to update it, lol.

As for the "ink stain" I assume you mean the little circles that trail the blotches? That's a very similar effect to a fog of war effect from an RTS. The way I've got it is that there's two pictures layered on each other. Blotches get trailed by little distorted circle sprites that a shader uses to basically  erases that circle from the  parchment layer, just like a fog of war you're probably used to in other games, but parchment colored instead of grey or black. However, that same distorted circle get's drawn temporarily on top of the full colored town map, with a shader that darkens it a little, gives it a darker outer edge to mimic watercolor, then fades away. The rogues basically just do an undo of that, reapplying the fog of war effect.

Thanks for playing!
