How does the game fit the theme?
You can only trust what you see in your scanner beam.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
I reused some audio code from my earlier projects. The rest is vanilla javascript written from scratch.

Simple and fun! Only thing I'd add is some way for the player to actually feel challenged. One idea would be some sort of time limit for the scans? Anyway, good work.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing and for your feedback! The challenge is more rings with increasing score, at 200 or 300 points the free space is so limited that you need sharp focus to avoid collisions. But it takes time to get there, and maybe difficulty rises too slowly - what do you think?

Submitted(+1)

Okay, gave it another try. My initial playthrough was until I reached 20 scorepoints and I truly didn't feel challenged. On this second try, I got until 60 points and it was way more challenging. So I believe that when you guys add your planned leaderboards, the players are going to be motivated on trying the game for longer.

Thanks!

Such a simple game, yet its probably on of the most addicting ones I've played on this jam, good job

Developer

Thank you, this is very kind!

Submitted(+1)

wow, this was actually a super satisfying game! The sound combination was great and made the experience feel very intuitive. The controls felt really good too, especially using the FOV control to narrow down, identify enemies, and hit things to score points. The most obvious upgrade would be adding some kind of plot, but overall, it’s a very fun game to play

Developer

Thanks for playing and commenting, I'm glad you enjoyed the game!

The game is very satisfying! Try mine if you want

Developer

Thanks!

a simple game, but for some reason I cant put it away? Really engaging, and surprisingly entertaining, You definitely did some witchcraft with the audio though ;)

Developer

Thank you! I'm really glad you like it :)

Submitted(+1)

A pretty basic game, but it is quite satisfying and the performance works well. this could be expanded many ways if you wanted with a story or upgrades, maybe even a chill kind of background track. It is oddly satisfying and unique, I never played something like this. Would be nice to say the controls in the game, I do see they are on the page.

Developer

Thank your for your kind comment! I'm glad you find it satisfying and uncommon. Fully agree about missing in-game controls description.

this feels nice to play likw I zoned out and just kept playing, its probably the audio its like weirdly immersive? Idk but I quit like it, very well done

Developer

Thank you!

Really clean and fun game, the movement feels very nice and tactile. Also the graphic and particle effects felt really satisfying

I would have liked some threat to the player, or maybe some bonuses for keeping momentum, either one would make it much more engaging

Developer

Thank you for playing and for the kind feedback! I'm thinking of a highscore table, making an online leaderboard, and adding the option to start a new game at any 50-point score threshold reached so far. Hope this could help with keeping momentum while leaving the design minimalist. How'd you think that would work for you? :)

Submitted(+1)

Really like the idea & implementation here. Super clean and well done. Great entry.

Developer

Thank you, that's very kind!

A very clever concept! Took me a moment to figure out the controls but I love the audio design touch!

Developer

Thank you, it means a lot!

Submitted(+1)

Had to go check the page for the controls but once I figured out what to do I found it interesting. Feels quite nice to play, and I enjoyed the loop of scanning and lining up traveling to the green dots.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I realize now that it would be kind to the player to display the controls scheme in-game...

Submitted(+1)

yeah i went into it blind so i didnt know i could move at first

Submitted(+1)

This was fun!  I was suspicious about the click-to-move controls, but that actually felt really good.  I love how the acceleration varies with the distance.  Zipping around collecting stuff was really fun.  The way the beamwidth changes also feels really intuitive.  Good work!

Developer

Thank you! Did you also try moving the mouse with LMB pressed? Maybe I should make it clear in the description that it's an option too.

Submitted(+1)

Yes exactly.  Once I figured that out it felt really good.  Even on my bad trackpad XD

Echoing the same feedback in a few of the other comments, enjoyed it but I just wanted more! If the red circles became hostile at some point, abilities, etc. Would definitely play an expanded version. Would be a great mobile game too, I think. Good job!! A piece of constructive criticism about the audio however, sometimes it got quite jarring when the sounds would "ramp up" in some circumstances, but otherwise the audio was quite satisfying and added a lot to the gameplay.

Developer

Thanks for playing and for the feedback! As for adding variety, I will definitely consider this. However, it will be against my original intent, which was to make the game kind of "meditative", by keeping it simple and requiring gradually more player focus just for avoiding red collisions in really tight spaces, which happens when you get to 200 or 300 points. I agree on the audio becoming annoying at times, it needs improvement.

Submitted(+1)

I really enjoyed the game. Simple, yet highly effective and addictive concept! Added to my collection! Great job!

Developer

Thanks for playing and for your kind feedback!

すごいアイデアだ!とても面白かった! 操作感とソーナーがユニークで楽しい。

目標と、画面外をクリックしてしまって移動が止まってしまうのだけ少し気になりました ナイスゲーム!

Developer

Thank you! I agree that clicking outside the game window is annoying - so I prefer to play fullscreen :)

The sound effects and the visuals are making this Game really smooth to play. I also really liked the radar mechanic it seems quite balanced with the viewing distance and speed the ring moves at.

The Only thing i would criticize is that there is no End or Timer that kind of negates the need to avoid the red rings in my opinion, but it was still fun to play nonetheless.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Colliding with red rings decreases score, and the purpose I meant for the game is to try reaching the highest score you can. What is missing, from my point of view, is that the high score you reach is not recorded, so after your score decreases from collisions, you will not see how high you got.

Submitted(+1)

I played until I reached 100, and things started to get quite crowded after that. It was a lot of fun! Maybe adding a leaderboard could make it even more fun. Nice work!

Developer

Thank you! I'll consider adding a leaderboard after the rating period ends.

Submitted(+1)

Really enjoying the idea that your radar focuses far away and spreads out nearby, as well as the sounds to differentiate green from red!

There should probably be a way to move in a more granular way, as every click needs to be super short if i want to move just a tiny bit. (this is usually done by adding a very subtle acceleration to movement)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and for your feedback! There actually is some acceleration - maybe it's too subtle ;) When moving in tight spaces, I just kept LMB pressed all the time and made tiny mouse movements. More apparent acceleration, when I tested it, felt like it compromised control too much.

Submitted(+1)

The sounds and visuals in this are insane! Would love an expansion on this after jam.

Developer

Thank you, that's very kind!

Submitted(+1)

This is pretty fun, although it would be cool if there was some more variation. well done!

Developer(+1)

Thank you, I find it both engaging and dull myself... ;)
