How does the game fit the theme?
Authorized Unknown is a psychological horror game set during a night shift where you can’t trust anyone on the other end of the line. You will receive messages from SYSTEM, COMMAND and UNKNOWN, and they won’t always match each other. Cameras and your screen might deceive you, putting you in charge of choosing which orders to follow, with uncertain consequences if you make a mistake.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Some shaders and the base top-down movement system were adapted from a previous game I made

The art is beautiful and so nice to look at. And the audio is well done too. I just had no idea how to play or what to do. And reading the messages was difficult because they kept getting interrupted by other ones. I think the concept is cool, bit it definitely needs so work. But good job on your submission!

The visuals were so polished and I really liked the feedback each time I interacted with something (UI/audio)! Super cool and I love the concept.

I did get a bit lost but the visuals are really cool, I love the glitch effect when you walk around

There is a lot of potential with this game. The biggest improvement it needs is leading the player towards "what's next" - guiding them towards what to do and where to go. This is crucial right away to introduce the player to the whole of the game. The visuals and the audio are great at setting the mood you're going for.

the artwork and the vibe of the game are done really well. The music sounds like it fits it well but getting cuts and static, maybe caused by playing web version. I struggled to easily figure out what the main game loop was but i liked how it looked and felt so tried for a while going back and forth doing what it told me and talking to random things. i struggle with too much exposition before i get to start making decisions. solid game.

I like the idea of the game. Having to do a FNAF shift while being gaslit by radio sounds like a lot of fun.

I feel like there are some things are holding the game back however. The radio text moves too fast and gets interupted way too quickly; I often had to re-read the same message 3 or 4 time because it kept getting interupted by other, more recent messages. It makes it really hard to piece together what's happening.

What's happening itself is pretty entertaining though. Moving between the radio and the cameras, banishing hazes before they disconect cameras... I think you have a solid base to polish and itterate upon.

Hi !

Super work on aesthetics, both visual and audio :o The gameplay and narrative are both really good ideas and I like it a lot but it was difficult to play for several reasons in my opinion:

- The tutorial doesn't really explain what your aim is / what you're supposed to do during the gameplay loop, or it was unclear to me. I'm not an English-native speaking so maybe as the dialogues are quite quick and numerous maybe I missed some info on my way from tutorial to actual gameplay. Which brings me to my second point:

- There's a lot to read, it goes very fast for a non-native English speaker ; sometimes when you're reading something in the radio it suddenly deletes itself to write something else, or shifts to another dialogue tab (sometimes in a way that seems buggy to me, like I'm reading the last dialogue and it jumps to a previous dialogue on the top of the list). Hence frustration of not being able to play smoothly.

It's a shame because otherwise I think your game is really good. Again, you did an excellent visual, audio and narrative work ! I know my two "critique" points take  room but it's meant to explain my viewpoint and what I think you should improve next time, not to downgrade your work - I did love everything else in your game and will probably give it another try later now I've understood how things work !

(On the whole it's still a 4/5 stars for me, but would have been 5/5 everywhere without those two things)

Very cool visual style and atmosphere. Really spooky, with lots of untrustworthy messages in the commands too, got a lot to watch out for.  Good job on the design!

The game is soo good !! WELL DONE TEAM IN SUCH A SHORT TIME !! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK ! (was it a bit inspired from fnaf ?) pro tip : never trust the command, always trust the system !

Thank you very much for your positive feedback!

really good game. I found the text to be going past way too quickly at times and got confused but that just might be a skill issue. i will definitely come back to play it once more and read and do everything more carefully!

also just a tip the crt effect can be too much at time so an option to turn it off might be good. really liked the animations and art style too (gave me the spooks fr fr)

Thank you very much! I will definitely think about your feedback

Nice atmosphere and effects in this game, by FAR. I did find the text I was reading to feel a little off sometimes, but thankfully the bottom text tended to point me in the right direction. If you go forward with this, it might be nice to have a settings page that handles audio sliders and disabling like CRT/flash, just for accessibility. I only point this out because the music seemed loud on the main menu for me, but that's not a huge deal, just a tip.  Good job, well done!

Developer

actually there is a music slider in the pause menu , you just have to press esc, i probably needed to write it somewhere😂

thank you for your feedback i appreciate it!!

If atmosphere needed to be redefined, your game would definitely pass the test. I really like the color palette too. The walking effect is really interesting, and I have a feeling I’ll come back to read the messages more carefully
