How does the game fit the theme?
You start the game without any instruction on how to play. During playthrough the player will encounter many (sometimes inconveniently) placed hints. However, all those hints straight up lie or mislead you. Some even wanna trick you into restarting the game on accident. Who can you trust, if not even the tutorial is trying to help you?

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Character controller was originally based on a free asset, but almost fully rewritten and expanded upon.

Grrr, I'm mad at this game😤😤. Tbh, there is nothing bad I could say, great job.)

Good job! I like the look, and the controls while a little quirky, are consistent and predictable once you get them settled in your mind, which is the most important thing.

I would personally steer away from the 'gag' tricks (especially if they are as rare as in this game) as they just kind of frustrate the player, and stick to the game being fair but challenging.

Overall great effort.

I'd love if you tried this and rated it. I just need a few more for 20.

Nicely done.  I struggle with platformers but I was able to figure out the trick ...mostly.  Nice entry and nice music.

I love the pixel art. I fell for the trap lol, no extra health for me :<. Its a fun Foddian game, its like a mix between jump king and wall kickers if you've ever played those. Really well made, polished and difficult. I love it, good job!

Incredibly made game. The movements felt lovely, I managed to finish the game, for real but it wasn't at all a chore. The gameplay fit the theme very well with the trust no one being the narrator but also the level design fit the theme very well which is very hard to do. Overall a very good game!

I really liked the movement of the player, very responsive and well made for a platformer, i couldn't hear any sound though., either way good job ♡(˃͈ ˂͈ )

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. Sound should work fine as far as we know. Music is a bit loud and hides footsteps and other VFX though if you meant that.
Thanks for taking the time for play and rate ❤️

Great game please rate my game

Great movement and a great game overall!

Developer

Thanks a lot 🫶🏻

I love a good platformer :) I found a couple small bugs like sliding up the moss/gunk by holding left on it, but overall very smooth and satisfying!

Developer

Thank you. We appreciate the kind words ❤️

The movement is really smooth, and the entire concept of the game is really nice. The way you made the tips more about tricking you is actually a really creative idea, but I felt it gets slightly predictable. Really nice game overall!

Developer

Thank you so much for the feedback.
I understand they may get a little predictable, once you start to trust no one haha
We appreciate the time you took for player and rating our game ❤️

I loved the graphics and the smoothness of controls. The concept fits theme and the background becoming obstacles was a nice touch.

Developer(+1)

We really appreciate the feedback. The background touch was a genius move by our lovely artist. I agree!

Thanks for taking the time to play and rate it :)

Really fun idea, combining a game like jump king with misleading hints, but with every hint being misleading you start to tune them out at some point.

Developer

Thank you so much for the feedback.

Who knows if later hints were actually useful? 😉

Thanks for playing it ❤️❤️

The factory concept and upward platforming feel really fun to play. Using the hints to mislead the player is a clever implementation of the theme. Overall, the game flows well and the visuals look solid. Good job.

Developer

Thank you so much for the kind words and for the time you took to play and rate it!  ❤️

I have mixed feelings on this one. I do like a challenging platformer and some rage-game elements, but I feel this became difficult for the wrong reasons. Im not sure if the checkpoint was meant to be fake, or just didnt work, but it is extremely disheartening to get very far up and then clip inside a moving block and have to press r, only to see it takes you all the way back to the start. I also felt like the character controls were extremely unpredictable. Sliding off corners of blocks, air and ground acceleration feeling very different, the low jump height, and fast gravity all lent to a feeling of struggling because my character was janky, not because I could not get the timing or sequence figured out.

That being said the animation and artwork was really great. And suddenly turning background blocks into real walkable surfaces was so unexpected and cool.

Thank you so much for the detailed feedback.

Yes the checkpoints were fake on purpose. Checkpoints were somewhat provided through level design though.
That being said, we never intended players to have to rely on a Reset, except for the one pitfall near the very bottom.
I'm sorry you experienced the clipping issue that forced you to reset. That's on me and I totally understand the frustration. It didn't occur to us in testing, but that's no excuse.

Thanks for taking the time to play and to give such valuable feedback. ♥️♥️

Fun game. works well with the theme but is not the most original concept. Though you don't need to be original for a game jam. As long as you had fun and made a game, you did good. Not trying to say you're game is bad or anything. I've just played a bunch of trap games. Though the additional text is nice. Works well with the theme. Anyways, I had fun with the game and loved the art style.

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much. We did have fun :)

It's extremely fun; the artwork is really good. The troll element is really fun. It's a bit too hard for me lol!

Developer

We're glad you had fun and thanks for the kind words.
We made it somewhat hard on purpose and don't necessarily expect people to be able to finish it right away. It hope the difficulty didn't ruin the vibe.

Thanks so much for trying it out!

This is amazingly, painfully, foddian. I fell for pretty much everything! Great work to the artist as well - very impressive for a jam.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so so much. This means a lot.
The foddian vibe was exactly what we were aiming for!

Sorry (😈) for the many falls and thank you so much for the kind words ♥️♥️

Scarily addicting game, very fun. Movement is a bit janky though, especially the walljump

Developer

Thank you for the nice words ♥️
I do agree on the jankiness and will do better next time :)

Thanks for trying it out!

Fun game! Almost made me ragequit, but I managed to finish it! Like the artsyle!

Developer

"Almost ragequit" fits perfectly with what we were trying to achieve. There's a really hard jump near the end which we purposely kept that hard. Sorry 😂🙌
Thanks for the kind words!

hint signs that lie to you is a clean way to do the theme in a platformer, and the factory tileset looks sharp

Developer

Thanks for the kind words. The tileset is awesome, I agree. Handpainted by the amazing @Lynngr
