Great idea + the game looks absolutely great!

Try my game if you want.

I really like the core concept! the idea that what you grow becomes your enemy is a clever twist. My only critique is that the crop attacks felt  a bit repetitive after a while. I think adding more variety in how different crops attack would make the combat feel better. That said, I think this game has a lot of potential. Great work guys!

Nice work! I like premise and style. The hunger mechanic is a good one.  I was planting lots of veggies thinking to myself-- what does this have to do with the theme... then I found out the hard way. lol

Developer

Thank you for sharing your experience.I am happy you liked it !

I just HAD to try if I'm able to escape the map an well: I made it! XD

Anyways, this was just for fun and I think the game is innovative and fun, cool idea going great with the theme. Great submission 🐞

Developer

Hahah at first I thought hmm what spot would that be then when i tested I realized you can scale the walls easily xD. I only briefly tested if you can get stuck in the walls just by walking the perimeter and was like should be fine never thought of trying to escape the map. Thanks for you kind words glad you enjoyed it!

hehe yeah it's a weird habit of mine to just test all these fun things when trying new games. And it's actually a GOOD thing to me, I always am very pleased if i manage to do so XD

Great game….. I rate it

This game has a lot of potential. I think the concept of growing your own enemies to defeat them and gain points is really cool, but like other commenters said it could have been fleshed out a bit more (though with the 7 day time limit it's totally understandable)

The visuals are nice and the way the crops run at you is pretty fun, the music is also nice although some sound effects would have done wonders to the combat

A really cool entry, kudos to the team!

Developer

Thank you for trying out the game and for the advice. it was supposed to be better, but we didn't have enough time to finish it.

Farming your own waves of aggressive vegetable monsters is such a hilariously chaotic twist on the theme! The gloomy aesthetic and gloomy music set a fantastic vibe....Adding basic hit-markers, enemy damage SFX would make the fist combat feel way punchier and easier to jump into.

Submitted(+1)

I liked the concept of the game! I think you can juice the game more like what the other comments have said below.

Submitted(+1)

Great concept! I think this concept could be expanded on quite a lot and make for a pretty fun game. I also like the music and art style. The punches might need a bit more indication on when they actually hit the enemy, and maybe the stamina drain should be just a bit slower. But overall pretty solid game!

I was just wondering what those hands for until the plants grew up and immediately chose violence. Can't trust those plants.

Submitted(+1)

Really cool mechanics when you grow plants that will fight you! The game loop has potential, but it's a bit hard for me. The audio are nice, and the visuals are the best! Great game!

Submitted(+1)

I'll admit I got a bit of a fright when the plants started coming after me, and I thought it was really interesting. It's a very cool mechanic, growing your own enemies and building your own waves that way.

I'd love to see you take the idea of different enemies further, each with their own characteristics, and also improve the overall feel of the combat. One thing that would help tremendously is some kind of hit indication, like the character flashing white. I also missed having a few sound effects to reinforce the combat side of things.

Overall, I think the game has potential! You should definitely keep working on it!

Great game, i thought the idea was very unique. one think that i think could improve the game is that the map was very big and from where i got to in the game there was no use for that part of the map, but still just a very tiny thing. Great work!

Really nice game, I got jump scared when the first veggies became monsters xD

The good:

1. Lovely background music

2. The world feels very gloomy, fits the vibe of the zombie plants

3. The hunger at first seemed too harsh but as I played more I got better and managed to keep surviving, so great job making the ceiling of skill needed requiring playing more and mastering it, while still not feeling so frustrating at first to put you off

4. Nice variety of plants, makes you feel like you have a choice

What I would personally like to see:

1. more sound effects, when punching, walking and when getting damaged to allow audio feedback and not only visual

2. try to play with the anchoring of the UI, unless playing in full screen the tutorial is not visible and you can't see your tools

3. when planting/watering if you change tools too fast you get locked in that tool for a while, get release either by waiting and switching tools around or doing another planting/watering action

Overall great entry and really keeping the theme in mind, I definitely enjoyed it.

Thanks for the amazing feedback. I am very happy you liked the balancing of the game. I agree without fullscreen it's unplayble I will research the UI anchoring thanks for this tip. About the getting locked part I noticed that when you play fast and water or plant many different stuff its like the animation triggers are stacking and the item you hold isn't the one that is displayed but I think the item still is usable for example you can be watering while seemingly holding the seed bag and also punch xD

Growing and fighting your own enemy vegetables is a fun idea! I agree with the feedback others have given, especially about giving more visual and audio feedback when the veggies take damage.

Submitted(+1)

Nice idea, I had fun too, although I'd have a few suggestions to improve the experience: the hunger bar drops too fast, maybe, and also I'd add a sound when the vegetable takes damage to give some audio feedback, since the health bar is out of the POV. Other than that, great job :) <3

Developer

Glad you had fun. Thank you for the feedback I appreciate it :D

okay so the game is great, gave grunn vibes and the whole setting is nice, music suits the style very well but i do have some feedback.

the gameplay loop is not very clear, tutorial would be nice. there is no noise from the enemy's, turned around and got mobbed by 7 carrots i didnt hear coming. the combat isnt intuitive, is there weapons or is it all fists?

the concept is great and i think after building on this there will be a great little gameplay loop

Developer

Thanks for the feedback I am glad you enjoyed it. Yeah i am really sad we didn't manage to add more sound effects nor a tutorial. Only weapon is fists yes. You stagger your enemies so that helps a bit and you can also try to use the trees for them to get blocked a bit.

Submitted(+2)

nice gameeee! though, wish there was a tutorial in the game that taught me how to play, as the webpage makes the text very hard to read

Developer

Thank you for the feedback I really appreciate it. Sadly we weren't able to make a tutorial in time. In my next game jams i will make this a priority.

I can't even trust my food :( haha I hope you're not promoting not eating vegetables. It was fun, I feel like the water scroll isn't necessary, but it's a minor detail. Great game.

Check mine out when you can :)

Developer

Hahaha we are promoting not getting eaten by vegetables actually. When you say water scroll what do you mean ? the watercan ?

Submitted(+1)

Yeah, since after you plant the seeds, you need to water them with E. But if you don't scroll to select the item first, it doesn't work. It's more of a usability improvement: maybe plant with E and water with F could work, since they're part of the same action. I don't know, I'm probably just being picky 😅 I did love the idea behind the game a lot!

Developer(+1)

Yeah I get what you mean I didn't think of it cause in my playtests I usually planted all the seeds first and then started the watering process. Also sometimes I water less seeds than the ones I planted to get fewer enemies. One last thing while kitting the enemies to recover stamina you can go water so the next wave is getting ready.

Don't forget to checkout my game as well :)

its a really interesting concept
