How does the game fit the theme?
The game fits the theme because its main mechanic revolves around trust and deception. Every day, an undercover police officer tries to trick you into revealing your illegal candy business, while you must cross-check gossip and information in your notebook to figure out who is lying to you.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
All of the game's code, assets, and sounds were created from scratch during the Jam. The game was developed using Godot, and all of the artwork was drawn using Procreate.

How many people worked on the game?

The game looks great with the hand drawn art style and the UI matches with it well.

I had a hard time figuring out who was bad with the information provided and that might be on me. I think it would be nice to have some kind of note review to see what you've been told and by who, but it seemed mostly like information gathering was handled separately from actually buying/selling. I'm not sure what the point of having to return to restock candy was other than to just pad it out a little to make the timer matter more. From a story standpoint I don't quite get the grandma getting in trouble for selling candy but it does seem like this was originally about selling drugs which would make way more sense. I also noticed I couldn't talk to the kid again to get information once again and as such it felt like information went in one ear and out the other. I tried to play a couple times but I couldn't tell, unless it was just the hint that says rumor, because I think I saw that the rumor was only there for people who were cops actually, I guess I'll try one more time with that as my assumption. Okay so that assumption was wrong but I did do better that time. I see now each person basically says something in relation to something the kid says, so yeah it's hard to remember all the things he says and compare that to what each person is saying.

It feels like each person should be saying 1 or 2 things about other people (the gossip the kid says) and then something about themselves. Then instead of having only a sell and don't sell option we should also have an end conversation button besides the X at the top, basically a 3rd button at the bottom right. Then we should be allowed to reengage in conversation with people to regather intel for comparison OR have some in game notebook that kinda summarizes what was said by who about the person you are talking to. One other thing I noticed in some places the textures are a little transparent, like on the lockers, you can kind of see your character through the top of them as you walk behind. One more thing is it feels like there's a little delay when choosing an option and the game continuing, it seems like it plays a sound before it closes the menu, this results in a slightly less snappy feeling gameplay. On a positive note I like that you can skip the slow appearing text.

Anyway I like the art and concept I just wish it was a little more friendly for the player. Good job on this.

Lovely art style, really love the overall feel of the game. There was quite a few names mentioned by the characters so it was hard to keep track as the game went on. I think it would be great if you added the character's name above the game sprite! Overall great job!

This game has such a unique design - It feels nostalgic and I really love it. I didn’t quite grasp the strategy for determining who to trust but I had fun playing. Kudos to the team!

Great game please rate my game

Really loved how the story details tie together and force you to actually think before making a choice. The atmosphere is awesome. A small fun idea for the future could be visual changes like colors or sizes when upgrading items, but it's already great as is. Great game

the artstyle is amazing, and the gameplay is quite fun, the only problem for me is that it's a bit hard to understand which people you have to sell candy to and which you shouldn't (or maybe i'm just bad at the game). overall tho really amazing game!

Really lovely artwork, lots of characters to interact with, and plenty of dialogue to read too!!

The theme is very well executed, so much so that I found it hard to work out what was true and what was false in what I was learning from the various characters. In the end, I decided to randomly exclude one or two characters from my sales – it worked to a certain extent! What struck me as odd was that I was able to sell sweets to X on day 2, and by day 5, that very same character had become the undercover police officer!

I think I would have liked to be able to read the notes even without interacting with anyone. Well done on this game!

is easily one of the most creative takes on the theme
It could definitely use a slightly clearer tutorial at the start

Awesome job by the team—the vibes and art style are top tier!

Excellent work. Beautiful visuals. For those who don't know English well, the game is too short; you only have time to translate one dialogue, but otherwise, it's awesome!

I had some problems distinguishing who actually wanted candy form the people that didn't but in the end I pulled through for some days. I like the concept and the art very much!

WOW, the art is FANTASTIC and the dialogue is cute too! Such a charming game & cool idea. I also like how each time you play the dialog changes so it stays fresh

Hands down, the most beautiful art style I’ve seen this jam. Absolutely stunning. I really like the setting, and having an elderly person as the main protagonist is refreshing. Well done!

Inspirational visuals, so clean and pollished. Chef's Kiss.

Very fun to play! Maybe explaining the rules in more details in the game would be a good idea.

Yeah, we left it for last and ran out of time, hahaha. Thanks for the comment.

the procreate art is lovely, the hand drawn tutorial page especially, and an illegal candy granny is a great bit. keyboard input didnt reach the game in my browser so i mostly soaked in the vibe, the notebook cross checking sounds like the right kind of deduction

Thanks—do you have a Mac? It’s just that someone else has already mentioned the keys, and I’m not sure if that’s the reason.
