How does the game fit the theme?
You rely on the three factions for Favor and points, but if you let any one of them become too powerful, they take control and end your run.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Music, ambience, SFX and fonts are third-party and credited in-game. All game code, design and visual assets were made during the jam.

How many people worked on the game?

Interesting idea! I think its too easy to win by playing 2 of each faction each turn. Maybe having them automatically build up power once placed or putting more stringent round win criteria in would have added more weight to the decisions for what to build and where. But nice job regardless!

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback! You're not the first person to point out that the influence system could use a bit more pressure, so that's definitely something I'd revisit. The decisions were meant to feel more tense than they currently do. Glad you liked the idea!

Clever game! There's a lot of potential to expand on this with the puzzle/gameboard elements.

I scored a 45. Love the old-fashioned high-score-based game! WE GOTTA BRING THEM BACK!!

Developer

I just watched the stream recording. Unfortunately, I couldn’t make it live since it was already around 2 AM here in Germany when the stream started. Thanks a lot for playing and showing my game! And yes, a global high score list would be great! 54 is my personal best on this build.

The art and shadows look very appealing.

Developer

Thanks! I kept things deliberately simple visually, so it’s nice to hear that the overall look still landed.

Really fun. I admit I missed having a playable tutorial to get a better grasp of things, but that’s mostly just because I’m a bit dense, haha. I realize that, given the timeframe, it probably wasn't feasible.

I really liked the visuals, too. I can easily picture this project growing, with other categories of buildings. Maybe a 2.5D map view? Very promising.

Developer

Thanks! I actually considered a playable tutorial, but it just wasn’t realistic within the jam timeframe, so I went with the in-game How to Play page instead. I also thought about presenting the map in 2.5D or isometric style, almost like the current game projected onto a tilted board, but that had to stay on the cutting room floor too. Glad you liked the visuals! I’ll see whether I expand on the project after the jam. I have a few ideas. :-)

I really like these kinda game's on game jams because they are always so innovative , and this game is one of those I think the art was clean and nice , the influence mechanic I don't think has a strong "influence" on the game because its kinda easy to just tie the three factions or just space out their influence during the 6 rounds I think maybe there should be more rounds or the influence required for a faction to win decrease from 3 to 2

but yeah , I think the different buildings for each faction was a neat mechanic and I liked the unique function for each of them

also I just checked , you wrote a devlog for every day ? that's awesome , I haven't seen anyone do that in a game jam ! for your first jam this is a wonderful game you've made , keep up the good work and goodluck

Thank you so much for the detailed feedback! I think your point about influence being too easy to balance is very fair. That mechanic is supposed to create tension, so it’s really useful to hear where it currently falls short. I’m glad you liked the faction buildings too! And thanks for checking out the devlogs. I mostly wrote them for myself as a kind of diary of the jam, but it was fun to document the whole process along the way.

I loved the simple visuals! Could’ve use some UI improvements as I had some trouble identifying what I already have on the map, etc. Fun game!

Developer

Thank you! Glad you had fun, and thanks for the feedback!

I think you were very clever with your interpretation of the theme, as the trusting and distrusting are central to the game loop, not just the aesthetic.

It will work amazing as a board game in my opinion.

Developer

Thanks! I’m a huge board game fan myself, so I really appreciate that. I’m also glad the theme worked for you.

Fun game !

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! :-)

Super fun game imo ! Doesn't really fit the theme though.

Developer

Thanks! I went with a slightly more abstract interpretation of the theme. The idea was to rely on all three factions without letting any one of them gain too much power, since that would eventually lead to betrayal and losing the game. Glad you had fun!

I liked the game, the buildings arts are nice. I'm not sure if it fit the theme but great game nonetheless.

Developer

Thanks! Glad you liked the art. :-)

My take on the theme was about balancing the three factions without trusting any one of them too much. I went for a slightly more abstract interpretation of the theme.

I'm usually not very good at these games but this one was kinda fun. Interesting take on the theme

Developer

Thanks! Glad you had fun with it. And nice to hear the theme interpretation worked for you!
