How does the game fit the theme?
The player controls a witch and must sneak around town, talking to townsfolk in hopes of receiving the sage she is looking for to fight restless spirits. Townsfolk do not always give sage, but instead may become suspicious of the witch. It is also important to avoid being seen by the town guards. The player cannot always trust the townsfolk to provide sage, and the townsfolk may eventually become so suspicious of the witch that the guards throw her out of town.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?

The visuals and audio fit together very nicely, and the combat was fun! I felt that the stealth aspect of the game I didn't have to engage with nearly as much as I expected since one sage leaf gives you so much ammo, and sometimes the level arrangement gives you access to a lot of sage leaves without much guard pressure. Since the player gets so many days, maybe if one leaf gave just one ammo and did more damage, that could force the player to try and risk detection more to get leaves and to play more precisely during the combat rounds. Really nice work though overall!
Quite fun shmup/stealth hybrid, and the idea of turning it into a classic Gameboy game on top of that felt very creative. I was a little worried about the day count at first, thinking it might be a level count, but if anything it felt entirely too generous when I beat the game, sage did not feel hard to come by and I was never low enough on it for rousing the guards or villagers suspicion to be a factor. I'd be very interested in seeing this turned into a short, but full, release, maybe with some boss fights after you clear certain threat thresholds and more variety in the guards/villagers. Good work overall.
Great game, the visuals are really good and consistent with the Gameboy feel, you nailed that! The audio fits in good as well. The gameplay loop is simple but fun and the two different stages are a nice change of pace.
As others have said, 100 days is way too long though, I stopped playing after 3 days because I think I saw everything (?) Maybe 5 would have been better with a miniboss at the end (or whatever you had planned for the Ghoul Moon.)
Also, it doesn't really seem to matter if the guards notice you or if the townsfolk is suspicious, maybe one could have explored that idea further (but the game is large enough as it is for a game jam ofc ^^)
Really nice gameplay loop! I did not do all 100 days but I fought all the different enemies. Flying during the combat felt also nice. The enemies felt fair and balanced also! Very much enjoyed my time
Didn't get all the way to the end (100 days seemed a bit long; 10 would've probably been enough in the context of a game jam), but I really liked the setting and the style of the game. Love the idea of playing a witch that has to defend the village while also having to hide her identity from the villagers. Very Peter Parker!
Fun game, enjoyed the feeling of an actual old retro arcade type game!
Also the art when flying about was really cute!

You nailed it on the Gameboy feel! The cycle of switching in between stealth and battle felt nice too. It’s refreshing. And that spirit with wings, was so annoying to hit, and so satisfying to finish! Like a miniboss.
Good work!
Honestly I was worried I had overscoped, since the stealth and battle modes make it like two games in one. Glad you enjoyed it!
cute artsyle
Thank you!
A little indicator before a fireball is shot would be nice, rather than having to mentally time it in your head, but this game was fun and simply intuitive. The aesthetics are well-done and the narrative is packaged into it in a nice little bow. Very cute game!
I appreciate the feedback! Thank you for playing!
I think 100 days is a bit long, especially since it's a bit of a repetitive game loop, but other than that this is really cool! You did a really great job at capturing the gameboy feel/aesthetic! Oh and the music was really good!
Thank you for the feedback. I'm glad you enjoy it, and thank you for playing!
Loved the visuals! Flying around as a witch is super fun!
Thank you! Flying around is one of my favorite parts of the game! I might expand on the idea in a future project - who knows!
the graphics are awesome and the sound effects fit well, but i think it's a bit hard to understand what's going on. the controls are also a bit weird too
Thank you for playing and giving the game a chance!
oh i love the visual style of this. really felt like a long lost game boy game. in town it might help to push that style even more by making the player actually move in a grid.
I'm glad you like it! Grid movement was something I had in mind but ultimately decided against. Something I'll consider for future projects! Thank you for playing!
i liked it, reminded me of the old gameboy zelda games, very readable liked the audio
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoy it!
