How does the game fit the theme?
The game fits into the theme in two ways, one is the play on words that you can't trust the one who is the only one, the other is the fact that in the game, anyone can be untrustworthy.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
All graphics used in this project are public domain images, edited by me. Sound effects and music are third-party assets.

Really cool artstyle and color combination. The general aesthetic is really unique!

Thanks! ♥

Really cool gameplay! I hit an interesting bug that showed me both the win and loss screen, so I don’t know if I found the right person or not. But it was fun to play!

Thanks for playing and the feedback! ♥

The visuals are crazy cool, the music is also pretty fitting, i didnt find the intruder tho, it some guests had their pin hidden cuz of overlapping, other than that pretty good spot the difference game!

Thanks for playing and feedback! ♥

I like the idea, and the music is fitting. It was difficult to find the different pin for me, probably because of the limited color palette (everything just seems to blend together), and some guests sprites overlapping. I think with a bit of work this can be a great "find the difference" game though!

I really like the aesthetic. I looks like something out of Revolutionary Girl Utena. My only complain is that it's a bit too static. small animations for the guests would had helped.

I didn't manage to find the intruder.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback ♥ You're right, animations would have been really useful here, but I ran out of time! It's a shame you didn't manage to find the intruder, I guess she was hiding a little too well!

This game is nerve wracking for someone with social anxiety! You managed to create a nice atmosphere with the music and the art. I saw one or 2 people who's pin wasn't visible because someone was standing in front of them. Also I didn't find the person with the unique pin after 3 play troughs. I guess the unique pin resembles one of the real pins? Maybe a nice ending would be that you move the camera to the person with the fake pin, so the player can have a feeling like "oh wow, how did i miss that?" and it's also nice to show the solution after the player failed I think.
But apart from this small bug and minor suggestion I think the game was outstanding. A true piece of art!

Developer

Thanks for playing and for the feedback! ♥ I think your camera idea is very good, I actually wanted to add more smaller levels and different locations, but I only had a single day to make the game so I ran out of time! Still, what you suggested would've worked really well there. The pin is pretty similar to the others, just a bit lighter, so it contrasts with the character it's on. I really wanted the player to inspect literally everyone, even for a split second, and since I couldn't make a longer game, not knowing 100% what you're looking for stretches out the playtime a bit! Hope you had fun wandering around the ballroom, even if it wrecked your nerves a little!

unable to win even once!! I'll try again later!
I like this! very distinctive style from the filter to the game idea itself. It's a unique idea.
I like the funny intro as well!

Developer

Thanks for playing! ♥ I'm sorry you had trouble winning, and if you found the intruder but couldn't catch them due to a hitbox issue, I wrote to someone below what happens when you win!

An enjoyable game! The pins were a little hard to discern, & the map was quite large, but that just added to the challenge. Great job!❤️

I really love the color palette and overall design! The music is well chosen, and the little intro sets up the theme and story nicely.

Gameplay-wise, the badges are sometimes hard to recognize and spot. The hitboxes overlap, and I actually got the defeat screen a few times even though I clicked on the right character.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Yeah, I know there's a real problem with the hitboxes, and as for the pins, I can see they're a bit hard to recognize sometimes, but on the other hand, I also wanted the player to seriously have to stare at each person for a split second to further emphasize this lack of trust. But you're right, it could be a bit more visible. If you couldn't see the final win screen, I shared with someone below what should be displayed, so if you're interested, you'll find it there. Thank you for your feedback! ♥

Submitted(+1)

Yeah, I saw that. Once you know what you're looking for, it's way easier to spot the intruder!

Really lovely game! I found it engaging and really enjoyable. Visuals are really unique and interesting, music was lovely. Map felt enormous and felt like I went right for ages, which was a little daunting at first but it was a fun little challenge. Great work, and thank you for playing/commenting on mine too.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! ♥ I had a bit of a dilemma with the map size, I would've loved to make a few smaller maps and levels, but since I made the game in just one day, I decided to make this map a bit bigger so the gameplay wouldn't last only half a minute.

Striking visuals. High contract makes it very easy to spot the different types of pins, in such a tight crowd it's a really good call on your part.

The idea is interesting but held back by technical shortcomings. The ballroom is gigantic and densely packed with guests, sometime overlapping with each other and hiding their pin. This combined with the hitboxes problem makes it a bit tedious to find the intruder when she spawn close to other guest.

Solid entry overall. Nice music choice.

Developer

Thank you very much for the feedback ♥ This hitbox issue is definitely something that will stay with me for a long time, so simple and I didn't even think about it 🥲

Submitted(+1)

That took me embarrassingly long to find!

Great job! I love the visuals and music

Really interesting take on the theme.

I had just one glitch where when the character was really near the top she disappeared but she came back again so not a massive issue

Thank you for playing and for the feedback, I appreciate it! ♥

The visual style pops and  is really cool! I think it would be awesome to add some crowd/murmur/chatty/glass-clinking noises as I get closer to crowds, just so I could have a better sense of where people are, and it would liven up the space. Also, I really like the music choice! I think it fit the aesthetic really well.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and for the feedback! You're right about the sound, I'll focus more on that in my next game! ♥

Really enjoyed this and thought it was a great take on the theme. Very simple mechanic done really well to emphasize the theme is awesome as far as I'm concerned. The dialogue at the beginning was very funny and balanced setting the premise and teaching the game well. You already know about the hitbox issues but just to let you know I also encountered them (just mentioning in case it helps to see how ubiquitous that is for the experience).
:) great work overall!

You left some really helpful visual feedback on my game so I'm gonna try to return the favor with some audio feedback on yours, hope that's ok :)
The music choice was great and set the tension nicely. The background ambience for the people was good too and gave the impression of a crowd but it all felt very distant and not like you were walking through a crowd. I wouldn't know if this was the right fix without tinkering with it myself but something I'd experiment with is having some close-sounding human noises as you're moving through people. Just something to balance the sense of depth and give more sonic-feedback to being close to other people. Super subtle adjustment to make and like I said, not sure if it's the perfect fix without tinkering myself but hopefully wondering about it is helpful.

Great work and best of luck on everything!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! It's nice to hear such detailed audio feedback, I feel like it's the least-mentioned aspect when rating games at game jams! ♥ I'm sorry you also had trouble with the hitboxes.

A bit of a SPOILER if anyone's reading this before playing, but this should be the text that appears if you win: Bravo! You managed to catch the intruder before she could cause any problems! The guards took her far away from here. You saved the ball!

Modern "wheres waldo" GREAT GAME BRO !! Artstyle is incredible, mix up really well with everything ! WELL DONE IS SUCH A SHORT TIME BRO !

Okay 1. The MCs replies are hilarious, "Damn" and "M'kay" had me laughing in my living room 10/10. I love the art style and the fact that the background on  the page matches the ballrooms aesthetic! My only issue is with the hit boxes, I found the intruder but every time I clicked them I was told I clicked the wrong one. I personally blame the man with the fish.

Developer

Thanks so much for the feedback! ♥ Unfortunately, I realized the hitbox issue very late and I didn't have time to fix it, but I like your explanation! There's always something about that fish... 🐟 And I kept telling myself the intruder was just hiding a little too well...

Submitted(+1)

I really like the aesthetic, it is consistent across visuals, audio and even font. The page also matches the game's style which is very cool. Good job!

The visuals, aesthetic, and the whole mood is so cool, this is a pretty cool "spot the difference" type of game

Thank you! ♥

I liked this game. The visuals are pretty cool and they give a very neat impresion. I failed the first time idk why, I clicked thE correct person but maybe the game thought I clicked teh person below? But I thibk its a pretty neat way to pressent a "find teh difference" game :)

Developer

Thanks 🦋 I'm glad you enjoyed it! Yes, unfortunately there's a problem with "winning" that I didn't have time to fix. I thought something was wrong with the final screen appearing, but only later did I realize that the NPCs' hitboxes were a bit too large, and you probably just clicked on an invisible area of the NPC that was on top :/ But I'm glad you managed to win anyway!
