Star Cube's itch.io pageHow does the game fit the theme?
You will meet characters ready to manipulate you and paths you could avoid if you didn't let yourself be convinced. You shouldn't even trust your own perception of things or appearances. The game even breaks the 4th wall, forcing you to doubt your own controls, as a certain character might manipulate them to carry out their own plans.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
The game was developed 90% in pure Vanilla JavaScript (HTML5 Canvas).
Assets used:
just one Free character sprite sheet from itch.io by Kelano Studio.

really cool, I am not super skilled and could not beat the first boss :(
The first time I played it, I think I may have encountered a bug. The character would constantly move to the right, as if I were continuously holding the D key. It might have just been something on my end, though.
Other than that, the game is visually very pleasing. The way the attacks look while you’re charging them is really cool, especially with the flashes and visual effects. The controls are very responsive as well.
I had quite a hard time beating the ice boss, but the fight felt really rewarding despite how challenging it was. I genuinely loved it. Great work!
I like the motion blur effect when the character is moving! Movement feels responsive and juicy. A bit confused why enemies had 2 health bars? The flowing style of the background looks very cool. The visual design is nice and colorful. Was a bit hard to control movement and shooting and the same time since the keys were all on the left side of the keyboard. The music was nice and the sound effects were well chosen. Overall good job!
Controls and the art style is pretty solid. Very well done!
Great game please rate my game
The interactive environmental investigation, radio interrogation mechanic, and crisp atmospheric graphics make this short detective experience a perfect fit for the jam theme! Having to scan your surrounding base environment to answer radio prompts creates such a clever and hands-on investigation loop.
A few QoL, UI, and audio tweaks to consider for post-jam updates:
- Text Skipping & Replayability: Add a dialogue skip option so replaying after a loss feels smooth, and randomize the radio questions/answers so second runs stay fresh.
- Mouse & UI Controls: Fix the mouse cursor lock issue after pressing ESC so navigation stays fluid, and allow players to back out or cancel a radio choice before committing.
- Audio Sync & Performance: Polish the transition audio between walking SFX and radio triggers to eliminate audio clipping, and optimize performance for lower-end PCs.
Short, sweet, and brilliant concept! If you get a free minute, I'd really appreciate your feedback and rating on my solo jam project as well: /jam/brackeys-16/rate/4953523
The game looks and feels smooth.
The text currently auto goes next, I'd make it so the player manually goes next since you already have the click or space to go next implemented.
Also the enemies current only have visual differences but so the same projectile attack. You can add some variety to their attacks
thanks for your comment and yes you are right, those are things that I am adjusting for the remaster and I liked your idea of the enemies, I am going to implement it
The controls are easy to learn, but the boss animation in the second level is a bit long and appears many times, which can be a little annoying.
if you're right, in fact it's one of the things I'm adjusting for a remake that I'll release at the end of the jam
The level design and visuals seem really polished on this one! I had some bugs with collisions, and perhaps the pacing of the game can be a bit slower. But overall fun game :)
I'm glad you liked it and yes I'm adjusting the pace of the game and the collisions I'll release a remaster soon xd
Played and rated. I got through all three levels. I couldn't beat any of the bosses, but that because I'm not very good. The games art was really good and I got multiple endings. I really enjoyed it but I don't want to leak the ending to people who haven't played.
I'm glad you enjoyed it bro and hahaha the ending is quite anticlimactic
It does play really fast, but it's soooo fun! I love the classic arcade soundtrack. I played it on break at work and my coworkers all heard me yelling at my little guy to jump and shoot, that's how I know it was good. ;)
hahaha I'm very happy that you liked it and yes I have been adjusting the pace of the game I have just planned to release a remaster when the jam ends I would like you to follow me so I can get the notification and try it again
The game looks and sounds amazing. It's impressive for a one week project made in vanilla javascript.
I think I would like this game, but on my PC it plays extremely fast and I'm unable to defeat the first boss.
done, I'm already following you
I really like the amount of different looking enemies and the look of the second stage with the 1s and 0s.
But I found the character is moving almost like it’s speed up, I felt this especially when I was in the Air which made Platforming difficult. To add to this the character doesn’t move with the sideways moving platform which didn’t combined well with the speed up feel of the character.
But it was still fun to play once I got the hang of it and this game is quite impressive considering this Game is made in pure Vanilla Javascript
thank you very much for your comments and yes it is true, in fact I already have a super remastered version that I would like you to try, I am going to release it at the end of the jam, it would be good if you followed me so you get the notification
Cute little platformer, the colorful 3 worlds and quirky bosses gave it a lot of charm. I also liked that you can do quick shots or hold for a charged blast, that was a nice touch. It did feel a bit too fast on my side at times, but still had fun with it and the twist idea is cool :D
thank you very much for your comments, I'm glad you liked it. I also went to see your game and it was good
Combining resource/wage management with autobattler troop betrayal mechanics is an absolute masterpiece of game design—the tension when your own army suddenly turns on you mid-fight fits the theme brilliantly! The visual juice, smooth UI, particle effects on the Loyalty Seal, and integrated leaderboard make this feel like a commercial-ready demo. Congrats on hitting top leaderboard ranks during playtests!
A few depth and clarity ideas for a full Steam release:
- Strategic Depth: Add more troop management mechanics (like unique unit traits, morale meters, or specialized gear) so squad building has deeper long-term choices.
- Visual Clarity: Add clearer visual indicators or color-coded outlines on the battlefield during chaotic multi-unit brawls so players can track unit health and sudden betrayals more easily.
- UI Polish: Tweak minor UI elements/menus for cleaner navigation during rapid deployment phases.
Easily one of the most polished and addictive entries in the entire jam
Really cool game!
some feedback from my side is that the character doesnt move with platforms that move side to side and that results in the player dropping down while the platform moves away from below them. so just keep that in mind for next time!
thank you for your comment and yes it is true it was precisely one of the things I corrected, I would like you to follow me since at the end of the jam I will release a remastering of the game that will exponentially improve the experience and I would like you to try it
awww what a cute game. love this game
thank you very much hahaha I also went to rate your game
Thank you
First game here that made me say WOW! very nice work! Very smooth, I love the character's movement and the levels, very polished. Really liked it!
thank you very much, I'm glad you liked it, ah, I plan to upload a remaster where I will improve the experience exponentially. I would like you to follow me so I can get the notification
Anims look cool but i had bugs with collisions a lot , but overall very fun
thank you very much and yes it is true I am already correcting that.I plan to upload a remaster where I will improve the experience exponentially. I would like you to follow me so I can get the notification
Really fun game! And it's so thoughtful that you added multiple language translations — I love that! :D
What an entertaining game. I like that the characters you meet along the way can harm you run. I like it, I've found it entertaining
Very fun game, the visuals are amazing and the theme is very well thought.
