How does the game fit the theme?
You will meet characters ready to manipulate you and paths you could avoid if you didn't let yourself be convinced. You shouldn't even trust your own perception of things or appearances. The game even breaks the 4th wall, forcing you to doubt your own controls, as a certain character might manipulate them to carry out their own plans.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
The game was developed 90% in pure Vanilla JavaScript (HTML5 Canvas).
Assets used:

just one Free character sprite sheet from itch.io by Kelano Studio.

Royalty-free music and sound effects from Pixabay.

Pretty solid game! I was confused how it fit the theme until the first boss fight!

The platforming was pretty tough so I couldn't get too far. Platforms sometimes flew out from under me and I died :')

Did not expect it to be so well polished not only was there a lot to do content wise but also having the option to have different languages is amazing. There was a slight issue I had where the text at the beginning of the game was too fast for me to read (yeah I am a slow reader) so I couldn't read what most of it said just the beginning of each line since before I reached the end it got to the next one so I think by doing what you did with the other dialogue where you have to press space to go to the next one would be nice. But other than that the game was super fun and I like the music and art style that accompanies the game and fits it  well. Great job!

I'm glad you liked the art bro, thank you very much for your comments

Excellent work on the parallax and animated backgrounds! The game felt a bit hard at the start, but once I got into it, it was a lot of fun!

Developer

I'm glad you liked it bro and yes I take that into account I have already adjusted the difficulty curve and added more worlds and new dynamics if you like you can follow me so that you get the notification when I launch it

The game was very fun and I fairly enjoyed the concept and, sound and atmosphere.
The game was a bit to hard for me but overall a very cool and impressive game to be made in one week!

You did a lot of work in 1 week.

The controls are some of the better ones for platformers that I’ve played in this jam. A few rough edges, but overall really easy to play and they felt fun. (It was weird that you don’t move horizontally on moving platforms)

The way you implemented the background “hills” in the first level is clever.

The attack system and power ups were easy to use and intuitive.

The trust no one theme felt a little tacked on, but it was a hard theme to build a game around. (It took me ~2 days just to flesh out and commit to an idea)

I’m mostly impressed with how much you built. I got past the first boss on the crystal vault level, and all the different cutscene work in that fight was good.

PS. I think I like the downgraded graphics better! 😅

Developer

I'm glad you liked it bro yes I'm already correcting the platforms, thank you very much for your comment jasjasj yes the graphics were the best

This feels really well polished.  And somehow, even with the theme of the jam, that little twist with the ice cube caught me by surprise.  It's a very fun little game with audio and visuals that fit it well.

I felt like it would have been nice to have a little more control over jumping.  It's not the type of game I've ever been very good at and I kept jumping right into the first bosses attacks, after many tries I got real close to beating that boss but couldn't do it, its low health attack got me every time.

The regular enemies in the first level fit the look of the level and felt well done but I could see them getting a bit repetitive in a full game.

Aside from those points I can't really think of anything else to say, it's a nicely done game and I had fun playing it even though I sucked at it.

Developer

thank you very much for your comment bro, I'm glad you enjoyed it and yes I understand it's that I didn't have much time to polish it hahaha but I'm close to releasing a remaster with many new enemies, new bosses and a smoother difficulty curve if you like, follow me That's how you get the notification, I would like you to try it

The stars often spawned directly on top of enemies, and projectiles were hard to see sometimes.  Also, the Super Jump platforms are hard to use because they force you to bounce slightly, meaning you have to time your jump properly in order to get more than the minimum bounce height, so I lost several runs to that.

Developer

thank you for your comment and I understand those are those flaws that I am correcting

I had a glitch in Chrome and firefox on windows 11. The game ran at like 300% speed and reloading or switching the browser did not fix it for me.

Developer

if I'm aware, it was a failure with the fps limitation when they ran it on a PC more powerful than mine..... I'm already close to releasing a remaster with that corrected

The game interface is really cute, I loved the visuals! The game itself is quite simple, but I really enjoyed playing it. I actually restarted at least three times because I kept losing , so it definitely made me want to keep trying! It kinda reminded me of the Mario games on the DS, especially with the little flag at the very end.

I think the different enemies could be a bit more distinctive in terms of what they actually do, rather than mainly being differentiated by their colors. As a player, I didn't really understand how each type of enemy differed from the others or whether I was supposed to approach them differently. Giving them different behaviors, abilities, or mechanics could make that clearer and add a little more variety to the gameplay.

The only thing I didn't really understand was how the game fits the theme of the jam. I did enjoy the short introductory text, though, as it gave some nice context before starting the game.

Overall, simple but really fun to play. Great job! :)
