How does the game fit the theme?
You can't trust your opponent for not pressing the button. If you don't press you both win. If any of you press the button, the person wins....
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
We used photobashing on almost every asset. We just photoshopped and edited all assets. No AI
How many people worked on the game?3

Cool game!
I gotta say this is one of the most unique games I played this jam in terms of presentation and mechanic, I love how unnerving it is. The character designs remind me of No I'm not a Human and the aesthetic reminds me of FMV games.
I think this concept has such great potential if fleshed out, I love how tense the gameplay loop is! However, I could not really figure out the items, they don't always seen to influence the odds when I used them. If there was a better way to see exactly what each does to the opponent even if just visually and maybe have a way to tell what each character is weak to it would make for such a compelling gameplay loop. There is the bones of a great idea here
Nice game
I liked the look of it and the idea behind it. but I couldn't really understand what the items at the shop supposed to do. I tried using them to distract the opponent from pressing the button? but that didn't work hahaha
another suggestion would be to let the player know in some kind of way that the opponent might press the button cause for now its really random and unexpected hehe
maybe add some lines of conversation in between rounds or something.
but nice idea and concept. Good luck :)
Hey decent game!
Some feedback: Game design-wise, part of me doesn't like the guessing part of this game since it's just waiting and the payoff for my patience is most likely they will push the button. I tried to figure out if certain items could be used for specific people to force them not to push the button at all but it doesn't seem like that's the case. I put on the glasses and used the gun and realized the gun increments the retry interval? My main feedback is I'd consider letting the player have the glasses as a permanent item to let them track their opponent's frame of mind. Then the other items can be used more like a resource management/stamina bar system to optimize your opponent's level of stress. It wasn't clear to me how to strategize since sometimes the opponent would just press the button in round 2 or 3 so that kinda defeated any sort of planning I had.
Besides that, environment was good, art was unique, shopkeeper was a spooky man.
thanksss
Really enjoyed the concept and especially the unsettling visuals and even how characters were animated. Reminded me of the recent game No I Am Not Human and in general of new wave horror games. Just like other reviewers, however I did had a bit of a difficulty getting to understand what things do and what-not, but regardless of that, this was really on point of the theme and congratulations! It definitely deserves a good celebration.
Atmosphere is really on point, the unsettling animations of the photos works really well with the music and general design of the scenes. I had a hard time understanding the what the items did, i was able to buy and use all of them, but none of them had any obvious effects. My assumption is that the items could be used to delay certain NPCs from hitting the button, but i couldn't tell if it was working. For the first few rounds i just waited around 50k and then hit the button to go and buy an item. Eventually I lost two rounds, and i guess that made me lose the game? The initial tension was very much there, but it faded over a few rounds since it feels relatively safe to just wait to a mid number and cash out and the stakes/mechanics were a bit unclear. I think that maybe if the rounds went a bit faster at least at the start, and maybe there could be little random mixups during the rounds, like something rustling in the backround, a jerky animation, or the money randomly increases, all things that might startle you into hitting the button early, it could really push the tension and mechanics in the game.
Interesting game. Would work great if we could have a tutorial that explained the mechanics a little better. I could clearly see some inspiration from Buckshot roulette, and the sound etc was used effectively toreallyu build up the tension. The visuals were great aswell
Did I win?...
I loved your visuals and the soundtrack, great work!
This was a well made game through and through. The tension was excellently made, with the game becoming almost a puzzle game at the near end. The art style was fantastic. Really well made characters, with most being unsettling. The game reminds me of buckshot roulette.
Dont wanna spoil the game if you havent played yet.
Please continue making games!
Love the style and tension of the game. It wasn't very clear what I need to do at the start so I kinda fumbled it. I don't really know what the items do, what 'quota' means, and what are the consequences of (not) pressing the button. There's a lot of waiting, so would be nice if i can fast-forward.
The visuals and the concept was unique and interesting! It's like don't press the button combining with the trust mechanics.
Love the game!
Really cool game with nice artstyle. I'd love to play this in the future if you develop it further. Good job! :)
Cool game! I was a bit confused as to why I lost the first time (I never knew what the quota was, so couldn't try to reach it); I went back to see the intro again & couldn't find anything to do with the quota, so that was weird. Apart from that - very creepy characters & music to match, with a fun take on the theme! Congratulations!❤️
Quite the visuals and sound selection. Really added to the experience.
Very creepy art I love it. The effect with the moving eyes was super unsettling
The art style is amazing, and together with the sounds, the creepy atmosphere is really well done. It's a nice twist on the theme very original and interesting. I think there's a lot of potential here.
The art style is very creepy. Curious how you animated the sprites for the characters. The music and sound effects do such an excellent job of adding to the tense atmosphere. I wa a bit confused at the objective of the game, and what the button meant. It was a really interesting concept and well executed! Great work!
We used photobashing and animated at aseprite.
